He probably gets enough of a stipend to get by, and he strikes me as someone canny enough to take full advantage of whatever scholarships and grants there are available, since he has quite a few diversity Pokemon points and does the patter well. He would get 4k a month as a fullbright scholar in Minneapolis which is for housing, food etc and they typically wouldn’t be eligible to earn other income. Very tightly controlled on the student visas which is probably in part why he didn’t care about the prize money
