I think its popular belief that "everyone likes an underdog" but if you actually look at say, who the top superheroes/action movies are, they are almost never underdogs. Superman, Batman, Spiderman, etc. All titans in their industries.

I like Aquaman (i'm gay) because he is an underdog in a meta sense, always being the but of jokes, etc. I think maybe rooting for underdogs isn't "rare" but I think most normie-brained people will opt for the path of least resistance and just follow the crowd rather than feel like an oddball.

edit: and i just realized btw lol how ironic it is that Aquaman made the most money in the DCEU, not exactly making him an underdog in that sense. But this is kinda what I'm talking about. I got to see a superhero who was the butt of jokes for YEARS actually win. It's an underdog rising to the top scenario.
