I get why there's a debate about Sam Hyde as the host, but I think it's pretty clear watching clips of old seasons that he's important to the show. He's absolutely hilarious off the cuff and it created some of the funniest moments in anything I've ever seen. This is one of my favorites

That being said, he's only needed for maybe 4 or 5 nights total for big challenges or bits with maybe one hangout night toward the end. When he was there every day, it dampened his own enthusiasm and his effect on the contestants and audience.

That was a big part of S2. Towards the latter half of season 2 he’d show up introduce the challenge then go straight to working out. It was funny in S1 because he’d be sparring with Jon and every time he hit the pads Jon would jolt backwards lol
