Fire Emblem series

i have a hard time liking any of the females just because they're so fucking boooooring.
Astrid, Dorothea, Lysithea were the standouts of their factions, and Marianne's remarkable for being an actual suicide if you don't recruit her.

The amount of simps Hilda has is telling about the amount of FE players who have actually had to work a retail job though.

A bit late to the PoR animation discussion but I recognized the channel to also be the guy that does the Radiant Dawn rebalance/reimagine overhaul and it seems he's strong arming the start of Tellius hacking which has been famously difficult to do until now. I'm curious where this will lead to but I doubt it'll be GBA style romhacks anytime soon.

Dang I thought it'd be a Radiant Dawn hack that just has small bases and growths edits to some of the shafted characters and maybe a few map edits but turns out it's a hack that tries to turn Radiant Dawn into Conquest where both your units and generic enemies have all sorts of wacky skills.

astrid :story: so unremarkable that nobody can remember her name

she's just the anti-fun faction, dory is a little more interesting as she struggles with balancing her upbringing as a commoner and the unrealistic expectations set on her by the nobility. lysithea is also kind of a bitch and is little more than the token loli character for me

bernie genuinely has no redeeming qualities
She has exactly one redeeming quality. Tiny girl in a huge suit of armor large enough to count as a Mecha with a bow is very funnee. That's more humor than most women in 3H have to offer. I rest my case. (Honestly though she really is awful I just found that joke build to be the most memorable part of Black Eagles to me.

Lysethia at least has a fascinating backstory and the fact that she dies if Bylet or Hannemen (maybe others I really don't care enough to go to the wiki to check) don't marry her is pretty cool.

Correct, I don't think even Mangs would remember Ingrid if he had to choose between her and Claire.

Dark Spikes made her more memorable than 90% of the cast and honestly I have some pity for her given the hand she was dealt and that she tries to make the best of it.

I was gonna say "hey, at least it's not Fates", but idk, I liked some of the women characters in Birthright, and I wish all corrinsexuals had support convos with more people than barefoot dragon stu.

... at least it's not Engage, eh?

It's hard to say no to a woman who proves you melted her heart by setting herself on fire.

Is it okay if I say I like Charlotte for no other reason other than "I think her JP voice actress sounds nice". She's voiced by Ai Shimizu, a pro wrestler. She's also Sachi from Grisaia. But, I don't think that means much to most of you, so don't worry about it.

That may or may not be true, but that's not the point. Tellius tries to make race relations a major theme and part of its worldbuilding and adopts the most simplistic portrayal of it possible.
That's one of the reasons why i like Berwick Saga's plot more over the Tellius duology. For those unware Berwick saga and PoR/RD share a bunch of plot elements in common, with the most likely answer being that both Kaga and IS wrote the plot of their respective games out of a draft for a project (which may or may not be FE64) before Kaga left IS, and one of the many aspects shared in common is the race war part of the story. However, while Tellius shoves asides all of the equally shitty actions the Laguz pull when it is convenient, Berwick showcases the good and bad of both nations, showing how the 2 main countries have essentially tried to gay op each other to death since the beginning, and while there was an obvious instigator in the conflict, the other side could have solved things faster if they ousted certain bad actors before it was too late. They even incorporate the usual evil cult in a "realistic" manner, since while they still brainwash damsels in distress and burn heretics, they also have a presence as a legitimate religion and their main goal is to subvert both nations to become the ruling power instead of trying to revive an evil dragon.

For a literal gold digger, she's surprisingly one of the better women characters in Conquest. (Maybe even Fates in general)

As for the reason, I dunno, I mainly like Manuela in 3H because she's has the same voice actor as no other than Ash Ketchum, and remembering that just makes me laugh everytime.

i can't say much about the females but niles is one of the most remarkable Nintendo characters to date just because of how islamically filthy and degenerate he is. i shudder to wonder if any of his original japanese dialogue was cut out for somehow being too degen.

At least we know she can cook. I could take a Sigurd Special every day ;)

There are no bad reasons to find a JPEG fun. My favorite charecter is Severa just because her crit quote “LOOOOOSSSEERRRR” makes me audibly laugh every time. I actually really like Mitama too, her supports were always really fun to read, the Dwyer one stands out in my memory. The Haiku gimmick was by far my favorite of the stupid gimmick characters.

There’s a lot of bad things to say about Fates but the charecters being flat a boring isn’t one of them. As long as you do a support chain that isn’t just the retainer with the other retainer from the same lord your pretty certain to get something at least fun.

Despite the controversy around the translating and all that, Saizo and Beruka not talking their way into a support is still one of my favorites.

So... Amelia 2.0?

Flora is my true and honest Conquest waifu, and that reply just managed to send my sides to orbit
I liked Corrin's retinue as a whole, they deserved a better written game. Gunter was done especially dirty.

If you kill him you also spare the world another fujoshi.

She inherited all the cooking skills, Felicia... Felicia's a heartsweet sweetheart.

Treehouse should never be allowed to live down Beruka and Saizo, unintentionally funny as it is.

Berwick is one of the series I've always had in the back of my mind to play but just never have because I just never got into roms, and the big reason was that a friend introduced me to it as 'Tellius done better'.

Despite the flak I've given the lack of nuance in Tellius' writing regarding its take on race relations, I still honestly think it's the best written of the FE games and the only one that really tried to go beyond FE's normal tropes and scope. It didn't do the best job, but the ambition was clearly there and Tellius' plot is probably the only one I couldn't faithfully summarize in a single sentence to an outsider.
