Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

Problem is, it's mostly a week or two week thing for him before the next big thing comes or he gets crushed hard to the point of rage quitting anyway. He's still a clout chaser.
The last time I remember Max playing the game it was for only a day. He joined a hunt, hung around ishgard, and stopped. I also think that was also related to a promo video as well. I know he did it for the sake of seeing the game and people all came to met him.

If his record with PSO is any idea he will just play it for a week or two. I don't think he'll make it a standard, but will most likely add on to the impact the game is getting. I think Critikal joining the game and actually playing is the bigger story.

I started playing a few weeks ago and went to the /vg/ general to lurk.
It almost turned me off the game completely. Nothing but crazy trannies looking to pretend fuck each other and people posting glamor shots of their characters.
Reddit is almost as bad too. Where is the actual discussion for the game?

FFXIV unfortunately falls into the category of games with absolutely retarded fandoms. The less you interact with them, the better. Of course, in-game you will find normal people that will gladly discuss things or help you, but the loudest (hopefully not biggest) part of the community is trash.

Similar games would be Undertale and Genshin Impact. But hey, at least you still have us!

Unfortunately, the game got really popular with ERP'ing weebs and trannies around Heavensward (I think? That's about when I started seeing it be so excessive that it spilled out of it's circles), which pretty much ensured the general is only going to be about degeneracy until it's end. Ironically, you might have a better chance actually discussing the game and getting a real conversation about it on /wowg/, but you might also get SEETHING weekly-gate slaves posting story spoilers out of rage that not everyone else wants to be a rat in Kotick's maze as much as they do.

Without looking too hard, this thread is pretty much the only place I've seen consistent discussion of the game that isn't either: Pure degeneracy; focus on socialization more than actually playing the game; or autistic raid theorycrafting talking about things like "potency per minute optimized rotations" in a way that's nearly incomprehensible to newcomers.

Well shit thats a sad state of affairs. I've really been focused on solo stuff and only going into dungeons when the MSQ demands it so I'm not exactly spending a lot of time around other players. I guess I'll just keep on doing that. Not like I can't google answers for when I'm stuck.

But its nice to know the farms has a thread for the game and at least some sort of playerbase if I ever decide to stop being a hermit.

It really isn't too bad (I am a Eurofag so maybe we are not quite at the same level of faggotry), yes, you get "UwU nuzzles you" rpers in Limsa Lominsa sometimes or half naked cat boys, but so far I only had one guy in my dungeon runs write some cringy shit but nothing truly vile.

I have joined a small FC last week and we are just helping eachother here and there or talking about our next goals or classes to level etc. When I said "interact as little with the community as possible" I should have worded it differently. Stay away from the degenerates (and their forums) and stick with normal and friendly people.

I have a feeling this cat is going to be spitting hairballs.

Not from its mouth of course.

On Discord (The Balance for endgame stuff, PVPaissa for PVP, etc). There's also threads outside the /xivg/ on 4chan you can read. /xivg/ is more of a containment thread for the ERP'ing troons and weirdos that got XIV threads soft-banned in the first place. Now that WoW janny is currently sneeding about the state of his game and can't instantly shitcan threads because Hiroyuki likes XIV due to it being LE SUPERIOR NIPPONESE GAME, you can probably find normal threads on /v/, /vrpg/, and /vm/ again.

In-game, just join a non-pozzed free company or linkshell.

Bought the game during Summer Sale then found myself joined by a horde of others because streamers started playing the game, pain.
One thing that has me worried is the part of the community that uses the word "toxic" constantly. We get it, the WoW community and other gamers whine and hurt your feelings, but people are masturbating at the though of having a player base that accepts any bullshit. Being a ERP'er doesn't give you an excuse to not know how to prioritize targets in group content.

I was in Zandor last night and after a failed CE, a player called out a bunch of people for not knowing the fight. The player was met with a few others calling that person toxic to which they just laughed off the overuse of the word toxic and wondered how calling people out was toxic. I honestly wondered if the person being called toxic was someone from this thread

It's ok to not know mechanics. Not knowing isn't something you can hide behind forever though. The typical game play loop should be something like:

Learn ➡️ Practice ➡️ Repetition ➡️ Mastery

Was that person calling people out after one wipe? Was it after several failures with absolutely no improvement? I can see after one wipe being a little extreme.

Last time I did Bozja months ago, someone else got really fucking tilted when a player started one of those solo fights then immediately wiped, bitching that people should leave those fights open for the other players who actually know how to do the fights.

Everyone else in the region started a huge dogpile on the guy, then proceeded to keep flinging shit for about a good 10 minutes long after the guy who bitched fucked off.

Well we failed on serpents wings, I've never even seen it spawn in the time I've been there and I didn't know the fight either. I kinda just bs my way thru bozja CEs

I just want my shiny weapon.

Lemme ask, not for the sake of defending Dark Knight, but out of curiosity: What exactly is it that makes Dark Knight suck so much compared to the other tanks as of now?

It does feel a bit on the archaic side of things, which is unusual for the poster class of the expansion (Shadowbringers), almost like they wanted to hang onto stuff from Heavensward and Stormblood that just really doesn't work with the way the other Tanks are balanced. I feel like Blood Weapon definitely needs to go, same with Dark Mind (sure, it's unique in that it resists Magic but that doesn't feel like it's mattered since Heavensward), Salted Earth – despite being a damage option – is pretty outdated, they might as well get rid of Abyssal Drain altogether since it's delegated to being a 60 second cooldown and probably gets forgotten outside of really niche uses, and the new functionality of Dark Arts seems kind of dumb.

So, do those qualities end up dragging Dark Knight's damage output/utility down compared to the others? Because I could kind of see where that would be the case, but I also feel like Dark Knights have plenty of options for weaving in rotations that it shouldn't theoretically kneecap their output. Especially since I've heard it said that Dark Knights should never ever let their resources be full – that MP bar should never be at 100% and that Blood Gauge should never hit 100% because if it does, it means you're not using your kit, which is a damage loss.

General rule of thumb with 4chan is their generals are either crazed bullshit like the XIV one or one of the most candid discussions on the game you can get. Which it is will fluctuate wildly depending on who is around at the time. With FFXIV it's just always horny loons, so I'm sorry to hear you saw that. There are plenty of horny roleplayers and the like but they're not the majority of players, they are the ones that generate insane bullshit to share though.

The game has extremely extensive guides and a good number of excellent youtube guides for fights and the like as well. Also as you mentioned later this thread isn't too bad for information or looking for help on some things.

I wouldn't recommend The Balance. They're run by crazy trannies (As discussed in previous pages) like Skye and Lyra Rose, many of the moderators/mentors are LGBT retards. There are words you are not allowed to say, and steering your opinion in the wrong direction will get you banned/ostracized.

/xivg/ is probably one of the worst generals on /vg/. Way too much ERPing, way too many ebins, way too many discord cliques trying to start bullshit in the thread.

Dark Knight does about 3% less damage than Gunbreaker at 75 percentile. Gunbreaker is the highest tank dps in the game. It's a 300-400 dps difference into 13000 dps. Dark Knight sucks because terminally autistic people said it does.

The hardest dps check in the game currently is Eden's Promise (E12S Part 1). It requires 126,000 DPS to clear. From fflogs' rankings from 5.5 (Pre-echo), if everyone pulls in 50 percentile, it will look something like this:

Dark Knight - 13,000 dps
Gunbreaker - 13,350 dps
White Mage - 11,180 dps
Scholar - 12,000 dps
Samurai - 22,800 dps
Ninja - 22,380 dps
Red Mage - 22,100 dps
Dancer - 20,600 dps

This nets you about 137,410 dps. This is likely without counting limit break, which accounts for about 2000 dps, bringing the total up to 139,410. Even going by 5.4 rankings, you'd still clear with this composition and 50 percentile, which would be considered "pretty bad" by some. If you can't clear, that's because someone needs to pull their weight, not because someone is playing a specific job. If you're not playing in a week 1 clear static, which is the grand majority of raiders, you shouldn't care about this shit at all.

It's not like Gunbreaker doesn't have the same "dumbed down" stupid shit Dark Knight has. Gunbreaker has a 60 seconds cooldown aoe ability called Bow Shock, it has an ability called Bloodfest that gives it resources to use Burst Strike or the Gnashing Fang combo that requires that resource. Gunbreaker also has Sonic Break that also has a 60 seconds cooldown. Dark Knight brings The Blackest Night, which is the best mitigation tool in the game, it also has Dark Mind.

The only things I think are silly are how you are required to use Blood Weapon and Delirium as late as possible to scum an extra attack out of them, but Gunbreaker has the same problem with No Mercy which is on a 20 seconds duration.

The /xivg/ general is so out of control that they need both a /trash/ and an /aco/ thread to try to contain the degenerate ERP, but it's still not enough.

The game has some good guides. I like Rainesama's raid guides a lot, they're to the point and without the BS. As for jobs themselves, it's easy to figure out on your own, you can get an opener to help you, but outside of that, it should be obvious what you should use before what.
