Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

Sorry but Thanalan has that Rabanastre/Dalmasca Ester/Westersand feeling going for it and because my favorite installment of Final Fantasy is 12 (the original on PS2, not International Zodiac or Zodiac Age editions), I had to join The Immortal Flames.

Also, Ul'Dah is less populated in my experiences so far and less crowding is always a plus for me.
Ul'dah's going to be packed as fuck now that the Make It Rain event's live.

It's already packed full of people on Cactuar right now. Although that's also slightly owed to the fact that Cr1tikal is playing there too and rolled Pugilist.

Also, buncha piratefags, the rest of you.

That's the thing, my friend. The Maelstrom/Merlwyb are against piracy, which is why there is a conflict of interests between the Maelstrom and famous pirate captains. She demands cooperation to fight against the Garlean Empire.

And salty air is good for your lungs, you know.

>15 minute video on how to do a levequest and squadrons.

Jesus. Is this title purposely misleading and it's for leveling another job, or is he that much an idiot? You need to stockpile on leves to spam them and squadrons unlocks when you reach second lieutenant in your grand company, on top of leveling the squadrons. Just fucking run roulettes, PotD and dungeons to level another job. Dunno why you'd make yourself play with AI when the whole point of MMOs is playing with other people.

FFXIV content creators are getting desperate because people who have a little charisma from other games are popping up and nobody wants to listen to their shit videos where something that takes 30 seconds to explain is dragged out for 7 minutes.

They're only against piracy against fellow Eorzeans, whereas Garlemald is free game to loot and plunder. Once a pirate, always a pirate.

I believe in desert supremacy. At least until Ishgard gets their act together and forms a Grand Company.

Leve allowance is best spent on crafting anyway. Combat classes don't get triple turn-ins and can't net you a couple million gil for making cookies.

Exactly. That is the best use of leves and to get those materials yourself, you have to use a DoL which will gain EXP as you farm the materials. Woah, crazy! FFXIV content creators do not respect anyone's time and treat their audience as children.

And now I’m in class crisis for endwalker…
Should I stick with Drk for tank since Pld being the posterboy this time means there’s going to be a billion of them, and do we have gameplay of the Reaper yet? I was a dedicated Dark Knight in WoW until I finally got burned in BfA, so if it’s anything close to either of the dps specs for that I’m automatically in.
I've been told WoW's equivalent is the Darkmoon Faire which happens on a monthly basis or something? Anyone know how's that in comparison?
It’s boring as hell and mostly done because the trinkets usually end up being very strong every other raid tier.
Edit: Were Darkmoon Decks won from there and were tradable or crafted with mats from the faire? I bought one on the auction house because I hated Darkmoon.

Until we get preliminary class changes, there's no sense in fretting yet. The closest we have to info for Reaper though are some animations Zenos does in the benchmark, including the class's LB3.

I'm pretty sure a trip to the faire used to be required to complete them, even after Inscription was put in the game in WotLK. Before then, the individual cards only came as random loot.

Question, but aren't the Garleans the bad guys? We are at war, after all. Plus, Merlwyb said that they would focus on trade once the Empire is no more. I can totally see why you are wary of her/the Maelstrom, though.

At the end of the day, I guess it's better to accept the fuck ups of the Maelstrom/Merlwyb (piracy against the Garleans, violating a treaty with the Kobolds) and striving to do better than to get defensive/offended/prideful when getting called a pirate. Which is why I hope that Limsa Lominsa can become a trade hub with a navy that keeps the peace, which is going to be difficult given its history. Hopefully the Grand Companies get some more love in the future.

I do love me some lore discussion, but I also realized I skipped a lot of stuff and need to read up on what I missed.

The Garlean Empire is basically 'The bad' in most senses, they also had (have really) quite a bit of high end tech you can't get anywhere else so not only did it make sense as a strategic choice but as an economic one.

One of the more recent story updates actually has Merlwyb make a pretty serious effort to bring an end to 'All pirates all the time' way of things and even made peace with the Kobolds. Those same quests even highlight that the other major pirate fleets are even settling in to the trade and protection kind've lifestyle - though they're always going to be privateer minded.

I also would love to see more GC and home city focus in the future. The former still has absolute loads of ranks that are unreachable and I doubt they've finished putting in all the content they were hoping to. Even if its expansions of your squad duties, perhaps some day there can even be some use for them in a PVP commanding setting? That would be neat.

I DO actually like Merlwyb and I respect the organization of the Maelstrom, or at least, I respect them a hell of a lot more than the Adders. Gridania can go fuck itself any day of the week. And it was actually very pleasing to see that story note before the post-MSQ "ending" to Shadowbringers, which also makes me hope that every GC gets as much direct development as the Flames and the Maelstrom have gotten so far.

But if you think for a moment I forgot how both of those trifling ass bitches straight up bailed on us when the shit got hotter than hot in Ul'dah, then you're sorely mistaken.

My man Raubahn never doubted me, not even for a moment.

Nobody likes the fucking Gridanians. Only reason to go there is powerleveling in the deep dungeon.

I think it's the most aesthetically pleasing out of the three main city states, especially taking residential areas into account. Though yeah I have no love for snooty elves.
The best part is the snooty elves aren't even in charge of their city-state, that's the Padjal hyur with horns. Gridania direly needs some sort of update because it hasn't changed all that much since its 1.0 incarnation. The biggest difference is that the Elementals are 'too weak' to go on autistic murder fits as often as they used to.

They weren't convinced to allow for more development, communicated with in a more meaningful way, or what have you. Nah they're just too tuckered out to be able to break free of their horned tard-wranglers.

Can you import HUD from one char to another without copypasting the matrix like a weirdo yet? Not even asking from other players.
I don't know. Do you even need more than one character? According to a coworker who recommended the game to me, there's a new game plus mode allowing you to reset quest progress and level new classes through the story.

I had to make like 2 or 3 chars in different servers to play with frens because they're way too autistic to all come into the same one.

that's youtube in general, gotta make dat admoney.

because you can knock out AV in 20 minutes and level 47-50 in under 2 hours this way. have you seen the average AV group?
can't remember if you get extra loot as well, but did a lot of farming for glamours with my squadron.

Not sure how I feel about it. Got the trial, made a dude and one of the first quests was 'murder 5 squirrels'.

I've heard it gets better after the abysmal grind-but I'm feeling pretty done with MMOs and their 10 bear asses.
How much 'better' does it actually get?
there aren't that many world quests anyway, the main chunk of your level exp comes from the storyquests, dailies are of that variety tho.

I think you get so much exp via msq you can even level 1 char alone with it, I did MSQ on my DD and leveled a heal on the side for instant queue whenever needed and roulette.

there's a new game plus mode allowing you to reset quest progress and level new classes through the story.
just remember hearing about that back then, how does that even work?

New Game+ does not work like that as you don't earn any XP or quest rewards. You just get put into basically instanced content with portions of the original main story made playable again at your current level and with your current equipment, although anything involving the duty finder will still sync your level and gear down to the appropriate conditions for that piece of content.
