Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

I'm kind of interested in trying this out, but haven't bit the bullet yet. I still consider the pre-Realm reborn fiasco as fresh in my mind, but I'm surprised we've reached a point where something rebooted into a WoW-clone is actually giving real WoW real competition. I'm using my disgust of wasting a new sub on a lost opportunity to Refer-A-Friend to slow myself down, mainly because I don't think subbing to FF14's equivalent of "NZoth down, now wait 6 months before expansion and everything resets" is a very smart time to get into it.

Did they bring back an opportunity to earn the FF15 promo cars back yet?

That's coming in September I believe.

Look, I know it's a meme at this point, but the free trial includes ARR and Heavensward, and you can level to 60 on all your classes if you wanted to. You have literally hundreds of hours of free content as long as you don't purchase a copy and apply it to your account (which is automatic with the Steam version if you buy it). There's really no reason to not give it a shot. Plenty of time to level before Endwalker.

how much was that mount last time?
It's 200k gp, plus 10k for noctis' card. That sounds like a lot, but Fashion report is very easy to get 60k a week with if you look up the thingy.

Edit because i saw a funny.

If he's impressed by Square handing out a penalty at all (reminder, someone got in trouble for fucking with a bot), that just tells me how bad Blizzard is right now.
Botting is so extremely rampant in WoW it almost puts TF2 to shame. Bots are able to bot entirely from 1 to Max level and then farm whatever they're programmed to farm, non stop. Players will file reports but nothing ever happens.

In WoW, it's extremely bad because of how much destruction happens to the game's economies as a result (both in Retail and in Classic) and because of the game's dramatic relationship with gold. In WoW, gold can be used to improve your character's power (via BOEs/Crafteds) in both versions and gold can be sold for real money as well.

FFXIV has a less severe botting problem for several reasons
- FFXIV has more active GMs that aren't outsourced to a third party
- FFXIV's economy is much less tied to player power (crafted gear exists almost entirely as catch up gear and isn't expensive either)
- FFXIV's game design doesn't have an emphasis on farming (there are no Bind on Equip drops from world enemies, world enemies don't drop gil, monster drops are rarely worth anything) so there isn't a huge advantage to botting.

Funny enough, Asmongold himself provided one of the best videos ever demonstrating the botting problems that occur in WoW.

Some context: Occasionally, there will be mob spawns that are classified as "hyperspawn". These are mob spawns that are typically tied to a quest, and also have a minimum number of mobs that are required to be alive. People take advantage of these hyperspawns to have non-stop farming. So, of course, Bots also take advantage of these hyperspawns. Every single chicken thing you see running around is a bot using a Balance specialized Druid that uses mass AoE casts to instantly kill and claim mobs as soon as they spawn.

- GMs are picked from the community and God knows where else, and they're nepotistic as fuck as past incidents have clearly shown
- Levelling gear gets sold as a premium on the MB unless you have a friend who doesn't mind gearing you for free, and most raiders prefer HQ crafted gear over tomestone gear because of its pentamelding capabilities, so player power does actually have no small influence over the economy – specifically over the mats used to craft that gear.
- I was going to say "maybe not in the open world," but then I immediately remembered that gathering is a thing and you do, in fact, have to farm certain mats if you either wish to sell them yourself and make a profit or use it in crafting. Plus, Diadem gathering. And that's just "open world" types of farming.

The thing that curbs bots here is that these tasks aren't viable to use bots for. They require a degree of direct control and not automation.

So while the farms were down I grinded out all the resistance weapons.
Here's the benchmark trailer
Out on Sunday

I am having an absolute bitch of a time with the Haunting and Vexatious memories, although now I see I only have to do that step once. The drop rate for FATEs with these is absolutely terrible. I'm about to start running the raids for these, are the steps easier after this?

I've only been playing for a few days and I'm liking it so far but it feels kind of repetitive. I'm only lvl28 on my highest (THM)... is buying the pass worth it? Does it get better after the whole main quest tutorial thing?
