So THAT'S what the Trust system is tied to. I'm familiar with them from XI but didn't know how they worked in XIV. Thanks man.

I would recommend still grinding them out for a short while, mainly because the 3rd and 2nd highest ranks give you access to dark matter (for repairs), Glamour prisms, and chocobo companion consumables for dirt cheapSquadrons are basically a gimmick precursor to the trust system. Their ultimate function is they are more or less the fastest way to reach level 50 without much issue because their AI is dumb as bricks, so they are overpowered stat wise and they let you instantly queue into a good chunk of dungeons. You can clear Stone Vigil for example in about 20 or so minutes. The buffs have marginal purpose for crafters and gatherers from what I remember.
Yes they are the only way to advance your GC rank after a certain point. They're pretty gimmicky overall and their shelf life dies after Heavensward content for practical purposes, so unless you think dressing your goons up in funny outfits is worthwhile (Maid outfits, suits, actually reasonable armor, swimsuits? So many options!), you want to more easily level (mostly dps) jobs from level 15-60ish, or you want the Captain rank it isn't worth caring about the Squadrons as a system.
I hate all these peopleVer archivo adjunto 2921343

No wonder FFXIV content creation sucks; if you can't do anything creative, just leech off of someone more creative than you.
The trust system is in Shadowbringers and Endwalker content, the squadrons are basically a more brainless trust system they made as effectively a testing ground for the Trust System. It is similar in concept, but the execution is different mainly in favor of the modern day trust system being much easier to use.So THAT'S what the Trust system is tied to. The buff scrolls you get from the weekly mission are two hour personal versions of the grade 3 FC buffs (that don't stack with them). If I'm doing something with my group I usually run a durability loss and a food to lengthen my food buff to 45 minutes. That's about it.Can someone explain to me what exactly the purpose of Squadrons are? Preferably in a way a retard like me can understand it. I'm under the impression that the only rewards are buff items which I really don't give a shit about at this point of the game when I'm already over-leveled and over-geared.
Also, is leveling up your Squadron the only way to advance your GC rank above Second Lieutenant or does the cap get raised at a certain point in the story? The asshole behind the counter tells me I can't get promoted any further.
They come back in Stormblood too, also their is another side quest chain related to one of the Hildibrand NPCs. It isn't really a comedy thing, but it is fairly interesting if you care about Ishgard.
Weird thing is Endwalker does YET another epilogue after this. They come back in Stormblood too, also their is another side quest chain related to one of the Hildibrand NPCs. It isn't really a comedy thing, but it is fairly interesting if you care about Ishgard.
It serves as a sort of epilogue for the Ishgardian church after the plot revelations in 3.0. This is about 95% a plot thing with some very minor outfit rewards and an emote where you push up your invisible glasses like a true anime character. It is worth seeing if you care about this plot element, as it tends to break the jrpg mold of "church/religion always bad" by having the church take strides to fix itself without just throwing away everything.
I feel that they're different and are intended to take place at different times in the remaking of Ishgard (similar to the remaking of Ala Mhigo and Doma with their side arcs in EW), and I appreciate them taking their time with this. I think both of those quest lines have their place. Firmament has a lot of little flourishes that tie up some loose ends and answer some worthwhile questions. One of which was settling a particular minor plot element that has existed in Limsa since forever, which when I heard about that I immediately blasted through every Firmament quest in about 3 hours.Weird thing is Endwalker does YET another epilogue after this.
But yes, that quest is one of the many peeks into Ishgardian society after you upended everything they believed in. (The Firmament also provides additional context once you have access to it, as well as custom delivery quests located within.)
If you care about emotes at all, you get a set of three exercise ones by doing 10 dungeon runs. Can someone explain to me what exactly the purpose of Squadrons are? As if we need further proof that the general XIV player are illiterate. In a somewhat interesting KF crossover - Vaush is playing XIV right now and skipping cutscenes.

The comments are quite interesting but I think the best ones are the ones where his followers admit to being filtered by the literary English used in the EN script. Really makes you think...
Tbf if you have dyslexia or English isn't your first language, I could see someone being very confused by all the weird ye olde English flourishes that are used in this game especially Urianger speech. "Pray return to the waking sands..." is a very weird statement if you take "Pray" too literally trying to cross reference it to your original language, and the spellings can be really weird sometimes. The JP script I know is much more direct in what it tries to convey, while the EN script's intent can be sometimes obfuscated by more flowery and harder to read language. One of the biggest examples is the meeting with Midgardsormr in 2.5, the translated JP script is really boring to read by comparison but the intent is much more obvious. As if we need further proof that the general XIV player are illiterate.
