Hearing about all this makes me glad I only craft/fish casually. The gil you get from them is nice, even if you won't make billions like the chad Day 1 crafters.

I finally got round to completing ARR. I was able to get Samurai and I'm actually having a lot of fun. But do the dungeons ever get any better? I keep hearing this talk of how "nice" FFXIV's community is but to me I might as well be playing with bots. I go in the dungeons, everyone is way more OP than me and just hoovers up all the enemies. No one talks, I don't even get any feedback on how good I am. Not even one "kys nigger." I would prefer people being constantly toxic to me over this just complete malaise.

Can confirm that it's not too late to make some gil off of this if you play on Aether. Prices are still fairly high across the server, averaging between 500k-300k between each piece. Hell, Siren's got cheapest listings in the millions.

The dungeons definitely pick up in Heavensward and beyond, more interesting locales rather than just "underground shithole" and more plot relevant enemies become the bosses if you're following the story so the fights themselves you're a bit more invested in. The trash pulls are more streamlined as well because the devs realized how much ARR's "whoops dead-end lol" dungeon maps sucked (I've heard this is a holdover from WoW at the time). The bosses also start adding a lot more mechanics as you go through MSQ dungeons rather than just "orange zone bad."
The "niceness" that is so lauded in this game always feels forced and fake to me, but I'm a crotchety old man in a young man's body, so what do I know? I throw out the "o/" when I join, but other than that, from my experience, you don't want to talk with most of this game's population.

Zepla, according to the twitch leaks, you make over 100k in subscriber numbers and ad revenue, you are not going to drop this game. Fuck off with that. You don't have a job, you're not going to get a job, you make easy money by just being a vapid whore on twitch, you're not going to drop this game because of something like this because you know you cannot find any other games that give you the long term capital you've made off of twitch. And there are people in the comments talking about how Zepla is the best how she's morally good... this manipulation tactics corporations have used for a long time; they say the right things and they carefully word their stuff so that they can earn more brand loyalty or make people think they're on their side so that they can keep doing the shady stuff they do behind closed doors. Zepla will say these things, but she'll keep playing the game and putting on a seemingly apathetic demeanor as she continues to.

I believe she still is, she referenced going on a field trip not too long ago before Christmas.
Also learning ninja: do you know how times I've blown my wad after suiton only to realize I forgot to hit trick attack? I tell people ahead of time im still learning my class so apologies if dps pulls take longer and people have been really nice but man that mistake makes me feel dumb.
I find the class really satisfying but reaper is waaaay easier. Right now I'm in it mainly for that Edge glam at 80 and I actually like the artifact armor because the mask reminds me of Mr.Bushido from Gundam 00.

Do people really think they'll implement NFTs into FFXIV? This game's spaghetti coding and the amount of load it would put on the game/servers, it would not work at all. A great example is the servers in their current state with the queue bullshit. At most, you would get your own NFT by consooming one of their overpriced merchandise from their on-line store.

I'm an oldtimer healer from the ARR days, I was talking more about the Heavensward trend where you had one healer and one tank that did less damage, had no utility, shitty mana recovery, no magic blocking, no AOE shielding, and then you had its cousins who were...just better in every conceivable way with maybe the caveat of being slightly harder to play. The Great Stupidification of Shadowbringers leveled a lot of the playing field there.
Most of it is. There are genuinely nice people but the overall "nice" vibe is the same "everything is fine" you get in a WASP house. The players are silent in dungeons and being catty, gossipy bitches outside the ingame chat.
Yeah NFTs are still a virtue signal I can't quite put my finger on. They're money laundering for rich people et cetera, but the vociferous SKREEEEEE woketards show toward them makes it seem like they think the N in NFT stands for "niggers". They're an obnoxious tech buzzword. Whence cometh this "THIS IS THE WORST THING EVER EVER EVER AND WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE IF PEOPLE USE IT".

Most people you'll have with you in dungeons are just going through their daily roulette grind for exp and tomestones so usually people will just try to get it over with ASAP. The most I ever see people talk is during praetorium cause of the large cutscene downtime and during Eureka because I guess people are trying to distract themselves from the soul crushing grind?

FFXIV players don't talk like that because it is considered "tahxic" and some risk getting banned. I can promise you, if you are playing like ass someone is probably insulting you on Discord privately or something.
They are nice to a degree for an MMO playerbase, but it can really boil down to playing with nice babysitters when you are super new. You can get a little spiciness and talking here and there in content that doesn't require constant moving around like dungeons. I've seen MANY arguments in Eureka for example, and I remember shitposting the "Harry potter should have a gun" copypasta and people lost their minds to that lol.
Basically FFXIV players don't really fight or argue much, partly due to community culture and partly due to active moderation. You can find people who shittalk privately, but publicly in game is hard. If you want to be told to fuck off so bad, try going to reddit and say you skip the story, you'll be told to be shipped back to WoW instantly.
Heavensward is a massive exception in a lot of ways in terms of balance that I only acknowledge it in that context to make fun of it due to how bad it was. HW War/HW Sch and eventually HW Ast were absolutely insane for their time, but nothing in this game has reached that level at all in many many years. ShB Dnc might be the closest or maybe Rdm in general if you are super into hardcore prog due to Verraise stuff.
I remember a retard reeeeeing loudly about NFTs and they sent a small essay support ticket to SE's support staff over the issue. I then remember someone trying to explain about how NFT technology, if used to its fullest potential, could be used in-theory for better server stabilization or some shit due to decentralization or whatever (I won't pretend to understand how true or false this is).
This spaz then went "Well NFTs have a big energy cost so...." like somehow SE's massive server room are just running on wind turbines or something. Then they started sperging about how NFTs are a trojan virus that will infect their computer and was like "GET THIS SHIT OFF MY COMPUTER, JUST DO SOMETHING ELSE TO IMPROVE SERVERS REEEEEEE".
I knew the average redditor/twitterer hated NFTs, but this feels like complete brainwashing at this point.

Is anyone else having trouble getting maps from nodes now? I don't know how many lvl 90 nodes I've used my ability on at this point, not a single one in sight.

It's the new Blockchain. Blockchain is one of those obnoxious tech buzzwords that every CEO in charge of anything vaguely tech-related was babbling about for a few years. Despite clearly knowing nothing about it, or why you'd use it, or what advantages it brings. "The blockchain", said the insurance processing company president. "We'll add blockchain to all of our technology". "We'll leverage blockchain to increase our productivity". "With blockchain, we'll have a more efficient infrastructure".
Distributed ledgering. Done. That's what blockchain is. When we pay for something both you and I write it down in our notebooks so it's easier to catch mistakes or flag when someone is lying. What the hell that has to do with "productivity" is down to non-tech people who don't give a shit about tech terms beyond thinking they mean "magic".
NFTs are the new woo woo magitek that will read your mind or manage grandma's email or something, whatever it is those darn things do. /offtopic

It doesn't help that the big boy hardcore-esque raid tier came out today too when the last one was over a year ago. I had friends who tried to login literally as the servers went up and it was about a 1-2k+ queue and some errored out a few different times.

My static is playing later this week. It's shameful that this game still has so many issues a month post release. If one of our players DCs during raid, that's the night gone because of queues.
