Whenever I see big communities around this game discuss the game, especially the story. I lose a few braincells.

This is why wars are always perpetuated instead of left behind, because you have people like these who are both stupid and think by smashing two wrong things together it makes it right and okay when all it does is make things worse. I was annoyed at first by the way we were treated in that zone, but I had to think for a moment to realize that ordinary citizens think they are the good guys because they've been taught to believe and spoon fed that everything else is wrong. They aren't bad people, they are just the product of what excessive propaganda can do and it can take a lot of work to break and overwrite something that's been hardwired into them for so long.

It's not like the Garleans are going out of their way to tell the ordinary citizenry back in the capital that they're killing and raping people they believe to be "lesser" races so of course most folk will think you're awful for killing their friends and comrades. They believe in the justness of their cause, just like you do and they have a history of being driven from their lands. It's the by product of war and any nation, regardless of it's creed are going to have soldiers that do fucked up shit in the background. Just because more emphasis was placed on Imperials doesn't mean everyone else is exempt from it. Trying to take a moral high ground against a nation you won't even bother to try and understand any further beyond what's just on the surface level makes you a moronic philistine.

If you had shown me those pictures and adjacent posted what you wrote side by side I’d either think you’ve written the best post modern irony or the best 4chan meme. It’s fucking ironic that a website who predicates itself on anti-fascism is run on a fundamental of anything having a positive like to dislike ratio is correct and vice versa is incorrect. A website that shadow bans people who have the wrong opinion is somehow more morally righteous than a society that allows open ideas to be exchanged without the fear of repercussions or a dent in their objective recorded fucking reputation.

A website that claims to see past the propaganda is instead languishing and embracing blatant leftist propaganda because doing so gets you a net positive rep on a website. Anyone who happens to see past the positive karma posts as being wrong are either downvoted into obscurity or they’re just outright banned. But apparently to Reddit, this modus operandi is considered breaking the conditioning.

Maybe I’m just being autistic and over dramatic, but Reddit to me is like the perfectly constructed argument on why tying currency to an exchange of ideas is dangerous. Why maybe giving people an incentive to follow and repeat ideas leads to a reciprocal contradiction in how free thinking is actually practiced. This is why I fucking hate Reddit with a passion. It’s a fake place with fake politics and fake ideas passed around for no reason other than to chase a currency based status symbol.

Regarding Garlemald.

I want people to remember something, Garlemald or more specifically the Garlean race were treated like literal sub humans. I mean absolutely, unquestionable, society destroying animals who need to be removed from the gene pool. You know why the GREAT GARLEAN EMPIRE is in some frozen hellzone with only magic oil to its name and fuck all else? Because Garleans could not integrate anywhere else and they were driven out of other settlements by violence from aether users. They were pushed out of southern Ilsabard where Thavnair was (Note why that end of Ilsabard isn't shit), they couldn't join other communities because the 3rd eye was considered a birth defect that could pass onto your children and thus disrupt their ability to use aether. This is "I DON'T WANT YOU GETTING YOUR NIGGA GENES IN MY FAMILY TREE YOU NIGGA" tier levels of racial prejudice, and EVERYONE ignores it and even when I've brought it up people just deflect and go "but muh colonialism". We know how racist people can be to others, see Gridania or Ishgardian Elezen, so now add propaganda about a racial trait that can actually maybe disrupt your society in a real way? Absolute chaos. This is why the Legatus we meet in Endwalker basically says their can only be war, peace is impossible, because from their perspective they might as well have been at war 24/7.

They were pushed to this frozen hellzone, they made alliances that backstabbed them eventually with Roegadyns, raided by Hyurs, and backed into a literal corner until Reapers made contracts with fucking voidsent just to give them a chance to fight back using the aether they can't normally use. Yes "EDGY ANGRY FARMERS XD" are the product of being pushed so far into a corner that you'd rather side with the devil just to have a chance to stay alive.

So when Varis says about making a perfect race, that isn't Mein Kampf shit, that is removing all racial divides by having a singular race which can actually happen due to what we know about the past because from a Garlean perspective all of their bullshit is due to racial imperfections.

This is ignoring all the propaganda (which likely used the above history as the kernel of truth to justify it all), North Korea parallels, etc etc stuff. Nothing I said has anything to do with the actual war at all that we play through, this was DECADES or even CENTURIES ago, and not a single person in Eorzea seems to recognize this or care. Let's not even go into Ala Mhigo trying to wage war with nature spirits that will murder people over a tree burning as if this is a good idea (though Ala Mhigo is a fucking sand bowl with no resources, so it was a desperate war), Ul'dah's zombie plague that ruined another civilization and most historians don't know this which means Ul'dah hide the truth at some point, Limsa's fucking everything, or Ishgard's 1000 year long history as our "allies" against the evil fash Garlean Empire.

None of these people should be Warriors of Light if they legitimately wanted to act like this during that section of the MSQ.

That NPC that started that thread is one of my favorite little moments from that section in EW, I wish it went on more though like most of Garlemald to be honest. Garlemald was probably the only section EW that I felt ended too soon.

Literally anytime you ever talk to someone about "The Griffin" in Stormblood, they basically say he was a fucking dick head that killed everyone under him and no one gives credit for anything, and in reality his fucking hissy hit didn't even do anything. Oh we broke through the wall that a 4 man party strike force infiltrated with ease, that summoning didn't do shit for that objective and everything afterwards his summoning only got in the way. Ilberd also basically hated everyone by the end of that plot point, he only did anything because he was pissed at the world and wanted to hurt people as bad as he had been hurt. He lost any semblance of being good by that point when he effectively said his people don't deserve to be free, just because they didn't have the same amount of patriotism, bravery, and will to throw themselves on a suicide mission as him.

Lyse deserves to be considered the liberator of Ala Mhigo more than Ilberd, fuck Ilberd.

Also people who look at "lawful" as just "following the law" are fucking dumb and need to actually read what that alignment means if they want to quote it.

Funny thing is, the one redeeming thing Ilberd did was accidental. Had he not summon Shinryu, Omega would not have been reactivated and help Cid find a way to cross to the First.

And I'm really fucking sick of redditors calling Gaius or, I shit you not, nu-Gaius evil. Yes, he has political beliefs that you can call objectionable or on some fundamental level correct, but over-zealous... but that doesn't make him fucking evil. It just means you disagree with him and everything he does after he renounces his Garlean rank everything he does benefits not just himself, his adoptive daughter, or the empire, but the rest of Eorzea.

I don't remember if it was missable, but there's a quest where it revealed that he had Black Rose discontinued because he thought it was messed up to use a gas attack on people. I think in 1.0, he personally asks you to stop Nael from crashing Dalamud.

That line of dialogue is not missable and Gaius specifically tries to talk down Nael in 1.0, but he determines iirc that she's been tempered and gives you an in to fight her in her boss fight in 1.0 called "A Raven Nevermore".

Alisaie, a character that shows up maybe 5 times in ARR's MSQ, while Minfilla's Fillas are right there? Should I be concerned?

Also if you like Alisaie so much you might like to know that she becomes more active in the plot at the last third of Heavensward, oh and the Coils of Bahamut raid story line is part of her character arc (though you'd ideally want to get level 90 vets to just carry you through that by soloing the bosses, as doing them normally is a wipe fiesta).

This weirdo's take on Ala Mhigo as a nation was, "I like the aesthetic but I hate these people". I foolishly asked him to elaborate. His reasoning, shit you not, was "their buildings are pretty but they're so large and elaborate that they probably used slave labor on them, so I just know they're fascist slavers"

I'm sure Hydaelyn felt proud when she heard her chosen hero say "I just know they've done SOMETHING wrong" like a fanatical inquisitor.

Minfilila does about 4 unquestionably useful things total in this game, and two of them are her breasts that stick out in most of ARR's cutscenes especially in post ARR. So by that math, Minfilla is the most noticeably useful scion in ARR. Checkmate chuds.

Aether is a crap show because of WoWfugees, streamers, and new players. We still get 2-3k queues on some of the servers. If it weren't for my current savage group, I would transfer to Primal or Crystal. This server is a trashfire with too many people and raidtrannies. I run the group so I can't exactly just go.

Besides, they've completely disabled server transfer. We're not even able to go somewhere else. I think world visit is either disabled or impossible to use because these are processed after the current queue.

On that note, raid recruitment on Aether this tier was total ass. There are so many flakes and people trying to trade up to another static that clears faster or has better logs. I've run raid groups for a long time and I don't think I will again in the future with the amount of people who wasted my time. The average NA raid player is so inconsiderate of others. Is this a thing WoW brought over or was it always there?

It's not like I've never gotten flakes before. I've gotten an incredible amount of them this tier though. I had to recruit the static twice over. The current roster is very competent, but every kid wants to do week 1 +90 percentile parsing statics so I feel people like me who have other responsibilities are getting pushed out of raiding. This is especially annoying because it's not as if we weren't upfront about how long we think prog will take and what we wanted to accomplish. Players have just been using our static as a Plan B while they branch off to a "better" static.

Players who don't parse low grays and people who can't raid 20 hours a week seem to be becoming a smaller section of the raiding playerbase.

Traditional Crystal etiquette is that you give everyone 5 min to show up and party up when the train starts and between 30 secs and a minute when changing zones/instances to give everyone the chance to arrive with the train. We've increasingly had a problem of off-world conductors (typically from Malboro or Goblin) zooming through the train without giving everyone a chance to even get into the instance and rebuffing all criticism with, "WELL IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE WAY I DO IT THEN SCOUT THE TRAIN YOURSELF"

Of course, if someone were to scout the train themselves, these discord trannies would find a way to blackball them from even being able to participate in hunts. And then in a month when everyone has given up on trains because participating is a crapshoot, they'll complain about A-ranks taking too long because no one shows up for the train.

lol sounds like they're just using your static to pad their applications to the statics they actually want to get into. They're going to wash out once they realize that parsing 90th percentile in savage is significantly harder than in ex.

Oh it was absolutely fun at first.
Now it's just boring and beating an already dead horse to death. Maybe it's my age but watching a bunch of autistic retards get so worked up over a fucking game and wasting their time complaining about someone who's already moved on gets annoying fast for me. Especially when they are so predictable that it's boring.

That being said though, sometimes it is still funny to watch the whiney crybabies get absolutely fuckin' shit on for throwing a public tantrum.
