Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

Yes
Basically the wings go away if you enter combat stance
They also don't work with certain emotes
They do have their own animation for jumping and falling though
Oh I see...so even in gpose they get disabled with a combat animation?

Would that not ruin their intended purpose? I can only assume these sort of costume items are for people who like to play photoshoot with their digital dolls.

That or standing around in a capital city with the wings out trying to look good with those gaudy things.

Based.

You can't throw a rock and not hit someone talking about how overloaded the servers have been since Endwalker's early access, which includes here.

Wait until after midnight or the early morning hours to even attempt logging in. If you can't manage that, either quit your job or wait a couple of more weeks for more people to finish the MSQ and quit.

It seems to be getting better a bit. My computer crashed this afternoon and I only had about a 30 person queue. Was kinda surprised.

Malboro itself seems to be now only busy during evening and nights. Mornings and afternoons are now clear. Things may still change during the weekend however.
Even Tonberry is calming down a lot, usually when I log on (5-6pm) there's only a queue of 40.

ETA: I'm playing from Australia so I do have time zones in my favour of being able to get on a bit earlier than all the JP bros finishing school and work.

Última edición:
New announcement regarding servers being on fire.

tl;dr: No new free trial characters, no new sales of anything, advertisements not being renewed/added, or in fewer words "No new players allowed, we're full, come back later.". As a bonus, 14 days more free game time as an apology when we get to this upcoming tuesday.

The absolute desperation, I can't imagine what corporate thinks about this but I think this is fair so newer players don't feel duped if they try to start (especially if they bought something). It appears none of these things are active atm, but they're being added in the very near future.

Also of note: Two more weeks of free time and Yoshida telling the raiders sneeding about login queues "Fuck you, the patches are releasing on schedule unless an act of God happens. There's other content here that the rest of the playerbase would want to try that doesn't involve your gay ass world first races and progression."

I'm almost positive all those people already are 90 on at least one thing. It is more for more casual raiders who might be screwed here. Though tbh unless they've...legit barely done any MSQ they'll make it in time anyway, gearing for Savage is pretty easy and brainless (especially if you got gil to just buy the gear).

The REAL question is what that progression will be like the day it starts, imagine losing world first because your internet just dies and you sit in queue for 3 hours.

Catchup crafted Savage gear probably isn't being implemented until the day of patch, but I figure most raiders will have their crafters on standby, provided they don't already have a full set of 570 armor and Divine Light + Eternal Dark weapons and accessories.

Crafted battle gear is always day 1 BiS, its purpose may be catch up but on the first day it becomes BiS and is the core of all week 1 progression pretty much. The current tome gear we have now only exists to do dungeons, normal mode, and EX trials right now.

Using 5.0 as an example, we got AF gear which was i430, Ronkan gear as our tome gear week 1 which was i440, week 4 tome gear was deepshadow which was 460 unaugmented, and the Edengrace set from Savage was i470 (along with augmented deepshadow).

The "Facet" set was crafted day 1 of Savage progression, and was i450 + 5 potential materia slots due to overmelds. These materia slots allow it to be roughly comparable to the Deepshadow set and makes it the best possible gear until you get augmented Deepshadow gear or Edengrace armor.

tl;dr: Due to materia slots the craftable gear that becomes unlockable day 1 of Savage release is BiS until you can replace it with upgraded tome gear or raid drops. That's why the gearing is brainless if you have gil, you just buy the pentamelded gear and that's it.

You could skip grinding tomes right now, buy your gear, pentameld it and you are more capable gear wise for savage then any of the tome gear you are farming right now.

Oof. Got yeeted from the game during ex raid and haven't been able to get back in. I heard the servers totally crashed and kicked out a shit ton of people.

JP doesn't have terrible congestion and NA raiders all wake up between 3-6 AM when the servers go live and the wagies aren't taking up space. So the only WF groups likely to face setbacks are EU ones.

So another NA vs JP race then.

I'm just saying that it doesn't seem very viable for the raiders to rush to buy the gear instead of either already being crafters themselves/having pocket crafters to make the gear for them since you ought to know as well as I do that pentameld gear's going to be at an outrageous premium on Day 1 and possibly up until it becomes outdated.

Hell, pentameld Exarchic stayed pretty fucking expensive up until Endwalker released when I poked around the different market boards on Aether.

I must suck as a tank all of a sudden. Three duties in EW and not 1 commendation...
Tanks rarely get commends, at least in my experience. It either goes to the healers or you get people drinking whatever FOTM virtue signal Kool-Aid on social media bidding them to give DPS all the commends because "tanks and healers get them all the time and DPS always goes unappreciated". But usually, it goes to the healers.

Most WoW launches had a number of problems.

Vanilla was by far the worst, largely because they had underestimated how popular the game was going to be and they got rocked. Very similar to what is happening now with XIV, but this was like 15 years ago, so tech and the such wasn't as good as it is now.

So you'd have constant server crashes, serverwide lag (characters would get stuck in the kneeling looting position, for example) and massive queues.

It got a bit better with TBC. I remember logging in and getting to play a bit on launch night, but it got worse by the weekend.

Wrath was fairly okay, from what I remember. I think that was probably the smoothest launch they had had, as they were more or less prepared with the subscriber base and had gotten some experience under their belts and were also smart about funneling players into different starting zones/areas vs EVERYONE getting funneled through the Dark Portal and into Hellfire Pennisula in TBC.

Cataclysm had a bunch of crashing issues at launch.

MoP was a shit show. Queues were somewhat bad, which was compounded with the intro quests funneling players into one specific area which led to problems like this. For those unfamiliar, that was basically an on rails open world event where you had to destroy set quest items. Imagine the Golden Saucer Air Force FATE where you have to destroy the targets, but you're competing with a thousand other people and it just loops endlessly until you've completed it because there's no shared quest mechanics.

Dunno about subsequent expansions as I wasn't Day 1 playing them. I know that Warlords of Draenor had some issues and Blizzard issued some free game time as a result.

The current queue issues with XIV are probably most similar to Vanilla WoW's launch, but that's largely confined to the queue side of things. I am experiencing some ability lag/latency issues during primetime in-game and I think the game has crashed on me 2x, but is far more stable than Vanilla WoW was.

E: And now I'll throw an autistic tantrum as I'm finally getting hit with the 2002 errors. 4x in the past hour or so and been bumped from 1900ish in line to 3k+. Serves me right for going out and getting drunk last night. REEEEEEEE...
WoD was a nightmare. One entrance into the new expansion (Talk to Khadgar) which didn't work with so many people click him. Then the quests didn't work correctly in Draenor.
THEN once you got past the introductory questline, you had to kill Crows and cut down trees... these would be instantly obliterated by one or two people at a time, causing massive queues of people trying to kill them, and you had to do 6 of each.
And THEN the Garrison problem. Oh, my, fucking, God, the Garrison problem. The instance servers weren't working correctly, so say you step out of your Garrison, and then came back... you'd get booted out by the entrance real fast. And if you tried flying into your Garrison, you were past fucked. You'd get stuck in the air, no way of moving, no way of dismounting, you'd have to send in a support ticket to get the support team to force you off the mount.

Eventually, things got better, but only because people started quitting from realising there was fuck all to do.

Now, Legion on the other hand was smooth as butter. I don't remember any real problems at all.

Likewise for Battle For Azeroth. Don't remember any problems whatsoever.

And can't talk about Shadowlands because I quit in 8.1. Just couldn't stand the azerite gear system. Detested it.

Now, on FFXIV:

Finishes the MSQ, and loved it. It certainly drags a little at slow parts because once it takes off, all manner of hell begins. Then it slows only to get to accelerating the story again. The slow parts feel so much worse because the fast parts are just so damn good. That's not to say they are actually bad, just poor in comparison to what they're surrounded by.

In ShB, I was playing SAM and fully intend to finish getting it to 90 as its currently sitting on 82, as I really wanted to play RPR.

Speaking RPR though, others in this thread earlier were saying that people don't seem to be AOE-ing a whole lot, which I have to say is false. Personally, if there's 3 or more mobs, I'm only commiting to AOE, but it feels... off? Like the AOE damage is just not worth it? First target gets the full amount, but then all secondary targets get anywhere from 40% to 80% damage drop-off. And it really doesn't feel good.

This is especially apparent during Smileton. I felt like I was doing no damage at all despite doing as much as I could. I think this might just be a tuning problem.
Single target, they feel great. Morphing into the Reaper is a hell of alot of fun. Though trying to get my hotbars just right is proving to be a pain in the ass.

Queue (Savage) was and continues to be an annoyance, but having read back and seeing the transparency CBU3 have had in the past (and having actually finished the story), I'm willing to let the problems slide. If I log in, I'm levelling my gatherers at the moment. If I don't get to log in, eh. We knew there was going to be problems weeks ahead of launch, so it's unexpected. Plus the compensation they're giving is pretty damn generous.

Depends on if their pocket crafters are available and are able to keep up with the pace of world first prog. Personally, I can't see the benefit of crafting for one of these groups when I could just be getting paid instead. So I imagine even the big-name raiders end up having to buy gear from time to time.

Which brings up an interesting question - you think any of the TRUE AND HONEST WAHMEN raiders like stal have ever traded sexual favors for day one raid gear?

I don't even know who this "stal" is and I'm still inclined to say yes.
