Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

On the other hand, now that I can run Expert, I am noticing a consistent, small problem when it comes to Tanking that I think could be attributed more to the DPS being bad at utilizing their AoE to its fullest than any particular Tank changes (since the defense CDs for Paladin seem MOSTLY unchanged in terms of timers):

I'm frequently finding myself having properly cycled all CDs and generally hitting the point where I can't actually pop anything more because it's all on cooldown, and the mobs are still not being remotely close to dead when doing pulls, thus putting more pressure on the healer to keep me topped when dealing with trash. I thought for a second that maybe my defensive CDs received longer timers, but when I looked into it, there's been no changes, so I'm not really doing anything different from usual. To reiterate, it's starting to seem more like DPS are either being braindead or maybe it's just the fact that I'm still working on getting the new tomestone gear.

Sage also feels strange to party with at lower levels. They almost consistently manage to pull ONE single enemy in a mob off of me when initially pulling, so I've now gotten in the habit of making sure I get two AoEs off to properly establish aggro before moving on. Friend who's been leveling Sage on the side tells me he's never had an issue pulling aggro off a Tank on trash pulls like that, but he also doesn't seem the type to spam mitigation pre-pull either, like I've seen most Sages do, so it almost seems like an overhealing thing.

Mobs feel quite thicc and some are really dangerous when mass pulled. Hell the very last pull in the level 81 dungeon is quite nasty due to having 3 different enemies they burst you in a pack of like 6 different big boy mobs, so landing all your aoe is a little bit hard due to the hit box sizes making mobs cluster very weirdly (landing a line aoe through this sounds like hell...). It might be new experiences or it might be actual tuning, but it for sure feels like dungeons can be especially nasty with bad dps despite how absolutely stacked healers and especially tanks are right now. I think only Warrior feels giga braindead due to how absolutely busted Bloodwhetting/Raw Intuition is alongside War's other CDs for mass pulling.

Sage's dps spell is 300 potency at level 1, which is quite a lot for such a low level. Sage also has a unique trait where it can just spam basically anything while moving if it wants to. Empowered ST heal is very strong if you want to be a bitch and aoe is an instant cast circle which is the best kind of circle if you want to keep your gcd rolling as you move. It can also "preload" a empowered effect by just pressing the button and just aoeing until it wants to press the 3 buttons the expend the effect. Do also remember that Kardia is considered a "heal" every time they use an offensive gcd, that doesn't lag behind like Sch's fairy can, which might be part of your issue. Kardia feels kind of funky where if you damage cast as the tank gets a mob, the kardia ticks and the mobs immediately aggro to you if the tank doesn't immediately have some threat already.

Pretend Kardia is like regen and that might answer what's going on.

You know you're getting free game time right? So you have another week or so to see if it improves.
My original subscription lapsed last week, so I have already gotten my free 7 days and out of those I managed to play a couple of hours 1 day. Partly my fault, as I have to work weekends to compensate for taking extra time off during christmas and new year.
Will probably resub then when I can log in in the morning and just stay online the entire day. I will just have to speedrun everything I need to do in 30 minute chunks to avoid getting kicked like a proper NEET.

Just one thing. SCH fairy no longer has a noticable delay in applying their heals (its like an oGCD now), and even Embrace seems much more snappy.

The quality of all players has noticeably decreased since EW launch, but which section is most obvious depends on what you normally play so as to notice. There's a lot of people freestyling all the different DPS classes, optionally AoEing whenever they kinda sortof feel like it, tanks who refuse to use aoes for some reason, the proverbial curebots, those who insist on single-pulling despite the fact that you need neither a tank nor a healer to be able to do those, so-on

Smileton is about the only dungeon that I noticed mobs were hitting fairly hard, and even that's mitigated once you get up to 270 over the gear they give you at 89. Bloodwhetting does make all aoes forever completely braindead and wholly safe for warrior, but even classes without that stupid thing have tools to offset their squishiness on up through the leveling - it's the fact that DPS players are too busy eating chalk at the moment which makes the dungeons any deadly.

I wasn't so sure if that was really the case after a couple of Expert roulettes. But running even leveling roulettes and seeing non-sprouts doing newbie dumb shit like actively running away from everybody while they have a stack marker did wonders to convince me that everyone seems to have lost some braincells recently. I don't think they realize that crayons don't apply a food buff when consumed.

The fairy typically has an issue where it lags behind the Scholar, because it is a pet and not your position, and iirc the fairy tries to follow you if it is too far behind so it wastes time moving instead of healing. So if the Scholar isn't on top of the tank as the tank is pulling (and many tanks pull with gap closer so GL with that), eos/selene naturally fall behind and thus don't heal the tank every gcd like Sage's Kardia can. Sage's Kardia is basically better then the fairy solely because it is infinitely more responsive and way more consistent.

I have no idea why drooling mongrel week 1 Sages and fart huffing Scholar mains think Eos/Selene is better then Kardia's effect, but they're actually stupid because the fairy is dumber then DF and will proceed to do nothing productive many times.

Scholar rework 2023 can't come soon enough.

Did Zot for the first time. Had a sage, reaper, and summoner in the party. Was not a good time tbh. I got to use Living Death though which was cool until I dropped dead a few seconds after the trash was cleared.

Alright boys, got a new pc on the way and I think its finallly time to jump back in after a long break. How did my main class, The Chad Breaker do in the expac?

Gunbreaker still top tank dps (or close to top as Drk is on its ass), got solid mitigation improvements with Heart of Stone getting super jacked just in time to be around at level 82 (aka first dungeon accessible), and otherwise it is basically more of the same. Take all the good stuff GNG had, remove basically none of it, add a bunch more damage and a few mitigation improvements, and bam. If you can play Gunbreaker in ShB, Gunbreaker in Endwalker is almost the exact same thing.

It also got a small QoL improvement where the Gnashing Fang combo can be done across 1 button instead of 3 different ones.

The greatest of the tanks, truly.

This is my first time trying to play.
You can't throw a rock and not hit someone talking about how overloaded the servers have been since Endwalker's early access, which includes here.

Wait until after midnight or the early morning hours to even attempt logging in. If you can't manage that, either quit your job or wait a couple of more weeks for more people to finish the MSQ and quit.

The new expansion - one that acts as a conclusion to the entire storyline so far - just came out like, 2 weeks ago. Servers are, naturally, fucked.

They knew this would come well in advance, and have been developing countermeasures - most notably an entirely new datacenter for Australians - but due to a shortage on key materials (and other covid-related fuckery, like having to telephone setting up servers), they haven't been able to get these in place for 6.0's release.

Would be cool if they could figure out a way to make certain fashion accessories usable even in combat
