Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

If there's one thing I noticed about this expansion, is that they tried to give each Scion their own fifteen minutes of fame throughout.

Thancred with his sneaking.
Urianger and the space bunnies.
The twins with Garleans, then later with the Patala's Stand arc.
Krile with her moments with Hydaelyn.
Estinien with Vrtra (very brief, may not count).
Graha Tia with the whole taking charge thing during the second Thanvair arc.
I think the only one missing so far is Y'shtola, but I expect she'd get her moment post-Elpis.

Question, not sure if its spoilery so I'll spoiler it just in case

Did anyone get their current job mentioned in a voiced cutscene?
The white mage when you are meeting everyone for the "Liberation" of garlemald mentioned to me that he's glad to have a proficient white mage around like me and i leveled white mage to 80.
When Urianger is talking about his grief and select the right option he will remark that its true sage wisdom should you have sage as your job (Or sage unlocked in general?)
G'raha mentions your current role (Healer, Tank, And DPS, in my case healer) in sharlyan when you prepare the assault on the tower of zot should you choose the "Aren't you forgetting someone?" (Not seen it with other dialogue options as well)

I was mentioned as a white mage even when I was a reaper for that part, I assume the dialog is if you completed the job quests

I was referred to as a White Mage despite playing Dark Knight, I had the job at 80. G'raha didn't mention my role at all, he seems to only do that if you're a healer from what I've asked. "Sage wisdom" is generic enough that it doesn't have to represent anything, I passed that cutscene 2 days ago, so I don't know if he said that exact line to me despite not having unlocked Sage.

Literally going to review that cutscene with urianger again tommorow and see if there is any differences in dialogue.
Might forget it though.

Cant you go to the cutscene viewer and check which scenes have the "reflect quest progression" tickbox avilable, thats usually a sign a cutscene has something unique if you fill a criteria

The scene where the little boy turns into a monster and is then smushed by a bigger monster while weakly calling to his father before the big monster eats Ahnwann was actually fucking terrifying. Then the scene with Matsya running with the baby and then the baby starts to turn and then he starts to turn...mannnn I WAS FUCKING BAWLING MY EYES OUT MANNN
That's one thing I really appreciated about Endwalker; the final days were actually scary. The blasphemy are enemies you fight not out of glory or personal conviction... but because you have to. It's just necessity and the person behind that form will become nothing but pure oblivion after you slay them. It actually felt fucked up killing them despite knowing I have to just to keep other people safe.

Already seen level 90 reapers lol. Spoiler about the third dungeon, but a minor question.

When the last boss in the post dungeon cutscene mutters "I..am ruined..." is it from when he was a merchant still talking about how he lost that one deal that spurned on his bad mood which triggered his transformation?

Yeah, people who give into their intense dark despair transform into monsters and then erode away into nothingness. It's pretty fucked.

I actually caught onto this during the dungeon. The way the elephant people reacted when one transformed then a chain reaction occurred as I read the text boxes, the "I am ruined..." bit at the end, and the whole talk about Akasha/emotional energy from a long while back. It just told me everything I needed to know long before we actually got the answer. I don't think that makes the twist obvious, because you need to read voiceless textboxes that appear on no log anywhere, remember a line from about 10+ hours ago, and then remember the merchant from almost 20+ hours ago to put it all together. I take it more as a reward for me paying attention and I appreciate that.

Just finished the first trial, long queues plus work hours make me a slow boy. I have the next few days off, though, so hoping extra time home + weekday queues + it being a week since release will make it easier to power through.

Some thoughts so far:
This is probably a beaten horse, but god i fucking hate zenos. He wouldn't be as bad if they weren't hyping him up as this mega super antagonist, but he's just got nothing. Boring, shit motivation, it would be fine if he was just a side guy but yeah. It looks like he might have backed off a bit after zodiark, hopefully he stays in obscurity, not very optimistic about that though.

Speaking of Zidiark, I'm not really happy with how they handled Him. I feel like we've been getting hyped for this encounter for a while now, and all it is is a brain dead fragment thats been hijacked by a sidevillain in order to commit suicide. I dont mind that Zodiark isn't the final boss, his deatheading to the end of days actually flows well, just the manner they did it is disappointing. I honestly don't think they should have offed Elidibus back in post shadowbringer, the story still could function with him being reunited with Zodiark for a more worthwhile showdown imo.

Speaking of fandanial, he actually became a lot more interesting after the Amon reveal. Prior to that I was thinking "I hate this prancing faggot" and afterwards it was like "oh shit, him being a prancing faggot is a legit plot point, haha well played". I still don't like how he stole the zodiark spotlight, but overall he wasn't as bad as I initially thought.

Also, that sounded like hydalins voice being evil and all after Zodiarks death, there are a lot of ways that could go, assuming it even was her voice, will hold off on assumptions till I get further in. I will say that for a while now I've thought that splitting the 13 shards was crazy overkill and she probably did more damage than Zodiark would have, will be interesting to see if they try and sweep that under the rug regardless.

Beat EW MSQ tonight. I'm really split if I like this or ShB more. EW has a lot of density and it sort of changes gears a few different times which can be sort of weird as I try to recollect my thoughts. I'm not sure if they're ambitious and it worked, or they refused to commit to something and just threw a bunch of random shit.

The last zone I'm extremely mixed on and need to sit and think on if the fake deaths and noble sacrifices are worth what I'm pretty sure they're trying to convey here or if it just pointless fluff.

The thing I've come to realize is, I can't look at 6.0 the same as 5.0, I must count 5.0-5.3 as if it is one coherent constant story even if it isn't built that way initially, as patch quests tend to play stop and go and have cliffhangers to justify the wait and excitement between patches which can deflate drama when viewed back to back (HW I felt had this a lot when I replayed it). I think the gap between 5.1 and 5.2 expresses where something really big shows up and then it just sort of goes nowhere because they want to have a nice bookend for 5.1 for speculation purposes. I think this thought process also answers the length too, because I'd say 6.0 in total is about as long as 4.0-4.3 or 5.0-5.3, just it is told in one fell swoop.

Not to sound like some reddit soyboy, but Endwalker really is the Endgame of expansions. Everyone comes back and everything is relevant. It's very different from Shadowbringers, but I like it a lot.

Ishikawa successfully subverted my expectations. I seriously thought Garlemald would just reluctantly accept help right up until Alphi gets jumped. It makes perfect sense they wouldn't accept aid from people they considered bitter enemies since their nation's founding until there was literally no other choice. I can imagine the Reddit soyboys disliking that she dared to humanize imperialist fanatics.

I'm disappointed Anima was "just" a dungeon boss, but the dungeon itself was fun and I will definitely farm it for the Garlemald-themed gear.

Off to the moon, now. Let's see how bad things cock up there.

Without spoiling is the general consensus that it is a good MSQ and at least as good as ShB? As long as it's actually written well I don't mind if there are a few flaws here and there.

Yeah, it does the Shadowbringers thing of wrapping up almost every hanging plot thread on a cosmic scale without massively raising the in-universe power levels of the characters. And there's some fantastic kino moments in the way the cinematics play out.

It's incredible how much better the cutscene direction has gotten, just very small gestures are humanizing the characters a lot and adding a lot of depth.

I know the twins are already beloved but I was quite impressed with
Alisae shuffling along the floor reluctantly to get warmth from Alphinaud
just little things like that.

I am not sure how far through I am in Garlemald
but why do they have to kill off every Garlean who starts spitting straight facts, god dammit I had high hopes for you Quintus, great scene but I wish he stuck around for longer, I really was liking his character.
.

After a dog piss start (sorry I was bored to death in Thravnair and Sharlayan) I'm quite happy with how things are proceeding along now.

The zone is amazing, bleak and harsh but also beautiful and the Garlean song that plays on the radio is so good, can't wait to hear the full arrangment later on, I'm assuming they will use it at some point.
