Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

Just got through part of the garlemald storyline.

Garlemald is just like a north korea mimic, people only believed their propaganda which makes them hostile to outsiders.
Everyone bad and we are the good ones is a theme you mostly see through out the storyline, from the two sisters who died fleeing from you and the twins trying to help them to the fucking commander blowing his fucking brains out.
I didn't really expect them to go this route, I was more thinking about them pulling another stormblood and making them detractors.
They've handled it pretty well tbh, hope we can see more dark themes like this around endwalker.
It's interesting, isn't it? How Endwalker touches on these themes unflinchingly?

I don't have much experience with other MMOs but even among CRPGs it's very rare I see anyone dances the line between comical evil and "everyone can be redeemed" schlock. Both the sisters and commanders represent the futility of trying to reach out to the surviving Garleans, but the main cast tries anyway. They're infinitely better people than I'd ever be.

Greeted to this after a 5,000 player queue. It kicked me back to the end of the line too.

I'm glad the we have our empath flower with us.

This way even the autists playing can understand what emotion a character is experiencing.

I like how the game told free trial players to fuck off and not even put them in a queue…

Should I pay for the game so I could get a 2% chance of adleast getting in a queue or just say fuck it and wait a week?

Because a lot of people treat XIV like a premium virtual chatroom (think like Second Life and similar games) rather than a game to be actually played.

Saw plenty of people hanging around Limsa just to chat this morning myself.
to be fair, unless they changed it queuing for anything meant you were stuck waiting in the overworld, grouping or doing something else would kick you out of the queue or render your progression somewhere else void. and I'm not sure an active queue cancels the afk timer (most games don't I think), so depending how long it takes if you have to sit in the game anyway might as well do some ERP...

Frankly just wait. Game isnt going anywhere, and while ARR+HW is alright, the thing about paying is that you cant revert back to the free trial afterwards.

You're only really 'stuck' if your queue pops. The only thing you're locked out of is like MSQ solo duty stuff. You can hop around, do FATEs, quests, etc. while waiting on a queue.

Limsa has been a virtual ghost town since the expansion launched. Guess I lucked out having a mostly normie server.

Just passed the first Trial, and what a doozy that was; fun as hell though and great music.

This one will probably be a struggle bus like Titania. The boss requires you to actually use your brain and have spatial reasoning, which I can see giving a lot of people trouble.

For a thing that you go through as part of the MSQ, the first trial is more than happy to beat your ass. Curious what the difficulty on the other ones are going to be like.
Its an absolutely incredible battle. My group wiped 4 times and each attempt we get closer and closer. Victory was so sweet.
bad we jump started the apocalypse by killing Zodiark opps

Current progress:
I'm in Zeal--err Elpis and its absolutely beautiful. Its really heart wrenching to me seeing all the ancients alive knowing what happens to them all.

Also does anyone have an upload of the evil theme with the chanting?

Ehhhh. The only doozy is the stack marker, which requires a decent number of your group to be alive. The mechanic that kills most people is one of the easiest things to avoid - you just look at the pattern of the star formations in the sky, the angle at which they're coming down on the grid, and you move yourself to the appropriate safe spots. The rotating platform part is also pretty easy, though people who are apparently completely clueless about how it works seem to be the ones often trying to get others to follow them.

For my part, it took four tries - everyone died on the stars pattern at first, then too many healers died on ambient aoes and the stars pattern, then they decided to do it again, and then they finally realized that I was moving to the safe spots and they could just follow me. The second tank had a bad habit of using provoke whenever they could and then just losing threat to me again, which I'm just going to assume will be a norm among this new crop of retarded blues. But it doesn't really matter, since the tankbuster is loudly announced and anyone stupid enough to stand on you during it deserves their fate.

I've been quite lucky. I'm EU but play on a NA server so I've managed to only see 1 queue of 32 people so far. Once I'm in I just make sure I don't get auto-logged back out again, especially after 5PM my time (noon US). Apparently yesterday was especially hellish although I'm not surprised with it being a Sunday.

I do feel for SE in this situation, if the semiconductor nonsense wasn't causing so many issues they might have had a chance to avert some of this. I will say, once you're online it does feel much more stable than ShB felt at launch. I frequently got disconnected once in game during ShB and not had that pop up once yet for EW.

Has there been any stupid issues with the xpac itself yet? They've given out free time credits before. I remember my SB PS4 box copy coming with an already redeemed code. After about 4 hours of trying to get ahold of SE they confirmed that it was a known issue and later credited my account with 7 days extra playtime because I missed a couple of days. They don't even make boxed copies anymore it appears lol...

Enjoying the new MSQ so far (just got to the 3rd dungeon) but it's a shame a lot of the crafted gear sets are just re-skins of other sets. Was hoping for some cool new gear but guess it's not a priority?

Later on you start getting original sets, at least I think? I got some pajeet looking gear later on that I don't think is a recolor.

Crafted gear is generally recolored geared save for maybe one set, like the dwarven gear in ShB which was new for the time. The dungeon gear is what usually gets attention and from what I've picked up so far, they really tried with the dungeon gear this time. You get the Thavnair army looking uniforn in the 3rd dungeon for example.

Usually they try more with the level cap gear then the leveling gear, though some leveling gears are quite good (I like the deepgold tank set for what it is for example).

Oh, I'm a retard. I never picked up on that before.

I haven't had a single drop from the 2 dungeons I've completed yet but might look up the armour sets for the dungeons I have beat. I'm assuming the dungeon I just got to is the pajeet looking set I'm about to come across as @Jinmen mentioned above.

I'll try to keep patient for the time being then!

Do note, you get one piece at the end of every leveling dungeon for the job you are playing, and it is always one you don't already have. It is how I got two drk swords in a row. So if you level alts through those, especially with trusts as you get 1 drop every boss if you're impatient about queues, then it is a breeze to get most the set if you like the design.

The level 75 set is I assume the pajeet set they were referring to, as Thavnair is at least loosely based on India. It is a nice set from what I can tell, it is stylized without being too much while standing out.

The scene where the little boy turns into a monster and is then smushed by a bigger monster while weakly calling to his father before the big monster eats Ahnwann was actually fucking terrifying. Then the scene with Matsya running with the baby and then the baby starts to turn and then he starts to turn...mannnn I WAS FUCKING BAWLING MY EYES OUT MANNN
