Makes sense, I'm kind of fresh to MMO's but I finally caved and started getting into XIV, is there anything I should know getting into it, tips or whatnot, anything helps, I'm a level 30 summoner right now.

Remember that Summoner is getting a rework in about 2 days, so please re-read and reassess what your class does when you play the game after the servers go back up.

Beyond that, just focus on the MSQ as that is central to all progression but also remember that this is a video game and you don't have to rush through it to meet the "real endgame". The journey in this is as good and arguably is even better then the final destination. FFXIV is a very casual game overall so you don't need to worry about much.

Also if you feel the story is going too slow, you can re-read any and all dialogue in the event tab in the chat box. I find this helps people get through the constant running back and forth of the early plot, as they can read and move to the next NPC at the same time instead of playing stop and go all the time.

Actually made a Summoner in mind for the ReWork. Gonna try end game with Dancer.

make friends! have fun! become the anime of your dreams! take your time and enjoy the story - there's a lot of it (a new chapter gets added roughly every three months between expansions). some parts of the game get kinda boring and sloggy, don't get discouraged, there's always a payoff.
 
me, an hour after the servers go up, reading reaper tooltips, doing potency math, carefully organizing buttons on my action bars by frequency of use, randomly making "hmm" and "ahh" sounds to literally nobody
my girlfriend, who slapped everything together five minutes after unlocking sage, making angry parakeet noises
 
it seems only fitting that on the eve of shadowbringers, I both get a competent amaurot group (they exist?) and have a triple-disconnect leaving me to learn that warrior can indeed solo lunar bahamut with a bit of luck

time to actually be at the maximum level before everything is long irrelevant for once... well, after leveling a gunbreaker in bozja or something to avoid the deluge

I already know my combos as a GNB. I have smoothed out all unnecessary wrinkles, and I am ready.

Fun fact, it's dire times on 4chan's vg forum if you're a wow player. /wowg/ has more or less been completely overtaken by ff14 fans, partially because xivg is a infested with ff14's horny and narcissistic side.

XIVG has pretty much always been ERP troons, but hearing WoWG got coopted is hilarious and I'm glad to hear it
