Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

Does anyone here experience frequent DCs with their ISP? I have spectrum and play on crystal datacenter on balmung and had to buy one of those VPN tunneling services just so I wouldn't regularly get DCed at night. I have an ethernet connection and the pc is in the same room as the router but ping is anywhere from 90-150 (not horrible but not optimal I guess). Using a service like noping my ping goes down to 45. I monitor my ping using the ACT ping plugin.

I was just wondering if anyone has had similar experiences.
I know my area is dominated by spectrum, so during certain times it gets throttled to hell and back and I get disconnected, maybe you're having the same issues if it's consistent

The big ass server crash yesterday was funny because I closed the game to remove some mods and came back only for my queue to be like a thousand-something

Are there any Kiwi-esque FCs around or should I just try to start my own? Every time I join an FC it's full of faggots baby talking uwu at each other or furries.

There are based FCs around, you just have to hop around. Nobody in this thread actually likes each other though so we can't be in social groups together.

That and it's just a spectacularly bad idea to try and tie your character to the alt-right incel Nahtzee Kiwi Farms.

Aside from the other reasons I imagine most of us are also spread across various servers and data centers. I got into a decent FC first try but if I hadn't I'd also just hop around and keep an eye out in shout chat and ignore every message that mentions being "LGBTQ+ friendly".

The only quantifiable reason to join an FC is the XP and crafting bonuses. A renowned FC can still be equally populated by poop-socking try-hards and paste eating morons. Putting the farms in the title of anything, like @Kane Lives said, is a lightning rod to getting yourself permabanned for just existing. Personally, you're better off joining a big FC, getting lost in the crowd, stuffing FC chat into a chat tab you don't use, and sticking to linkshells if you really, really want to do shit like use the gamer word.

Lynx quitting is about as predictable as the tides. He'll probably be back. I guarantee that he was at the center of whatever drama caused his raid team to disband because he's as abrasive as they come despite his good boy persona on youtube.
Why's the kid sounding like he's about to cry in his video? Stop trying to make slightly difficult content into your lifestyle.

Some of you guys are total fags, just saying.

LGBTQ+ friendly is dogwhistle for drama.

Was hoping to join the FC but it looks like you guys decided on mostly using a linkshell by the few pages I read?
Nah, there's basically no communication - both because people are split across DCs, and because people are worried about their identity getting connected to here, generally antisocial, or some blend of them both. How am I supposed to groom people in these conditions?

Fundamentally, a discord server would work better - so long as people understood that even there, you should have a 'kiwi exclusive' discord account. Of course, the farms is well known for attracting people who adore not reading the warning and who leap at the chance to expose their identity - though even then, I imagine some character names could theoretically be forms of PII that folks don't want the denizens of this place to start creeping on and looking for.
I monitor my ping using the ACT ping plugin.
I've a friend who was for a long while having issues with packet loss and general instability only when he was running ACT. He would disable or enable his VPN and find no real performance difference, yet run into latency and connection issues with ACT on. Not entirely sure why, as I myself have never had any issue - and I use ACT frequently as a healthy metric to let me know when I'm outdamaging the DPS in expert roulette so I can just eat the penalty and enjoy life that much more.

This is basically the issue. I had a crossworld linkshell for Crystal but it only got like two or three people in it and was basically dead after the first week. The people in this thread generally don't run content together so there's not a lot of need for the fast turnaround time that you get with an LS. Maybe whatever new social feature Yoshi-P is cooking up will be more amenable to this, but it's doubtful.

Once cross-DC travel is available, we can maybe schedule some events in the thread and see how people do together with something low-effort and casual (like Eureka or fishing or what have you). I feel like if people play together, a LS is more likely to be successful.

I didn't mean to imply that I would start a Farms-centric FC, I just meant starting my own in general so I don't have to sift through the shit to find bearable people to play with

Edit: nevermind this is actually a single player game

If you don't already have a few people you're friends with to sign a charter and start the FC in the first place, then you're technically going to be having to sift through shit to find people to play with either way. Hell, even if you did have some people to start your FC, you're still going to have to sift through people in order to recruit them, and you never know when someone's gonna be fine one day and then a shitter the next.

Managing your own FC is a constantly active deal if you want to keep the people in it engaged. Shit's going to happen sooner or later and you're going to have to manage it to keep things relatively stable.

I got randomly invited to someone's new FC a few months ago and I joined up because, why not. I'll try giving people a chance again and I could use the FC buffs. I even did a majority of the heavy lifting when it came to ranking up the FC by way of expert deliveries. Okay people, but the leader and officers really quickly made it obvious they just made an FC to make an FC. Never once tried to organize or really engage with anybody outside of running a single treasure map, leader's own personal friends just fucked around with each other outside of the game, ended up mostly pissing each other off because I guess some of the females/troons/whatever the fuck in the group ended up making a stink on a few separate occasions about how they don't engage with anybody (and because one of their more normie friends who got brought in and never really touched XIV could not stop saying gamer words for the life of him), and, really, most of the FC's original numbers have left at this point and the people who still randomly get invited leave within a couple of weeks because the FC has simply never been active. I'm considering leaving myself as well because the role permissions are downright fucked. The way it's structured, I'm apparently just a rung or two below being an officer, so I get near officer-level access to the bank and can do a few other managerial things... But I can't purchase and store buffs. I'm allowed to ACTIVATE any buffs on hand, but I can't actually acquire them. And the leader/officers, who DO have buff acquisition permissions, never get on and haven't been active in a couple of months (so much so that the leadership got automatically handed to another officer... Who also is never on.) Maybe I'll wait and see if I end up catching the leadership role due to the automated systems. I dunno.

I wouldn't mind a linkshell but the thing about making a FC and advertising it is that I feel as if weens/trolls would just join and some thread would pop up about "KIWIFARMS FC DRAMA!!".

dude what server are you on? On mine there are countless FCs advertising for recruits every minute. I'd say fuck that and just join another FC.

Cole your fucking videos are boring to watch and people gain nothing watching them because chances are you're probably a week or a month late when the news drops and other competent content creators like Zepla or Larryzaur already beat you to the punch way before you could. Even setting aside your lateness, there's no structure or any kind of scripting in your videos, you just talk until people eventually tune you out and you always have to use filler topics to try and force the video into a 9:00 minute mark so you can game the algorithm.
Seriously, try watching this without falling asleep.

Not really getting positive vibes from that extremely whiny twitter post

Pass. I don't know who this fellow is or why I should give the slightest shit about his reason for playing an extremely popular game. Perhaps he should instead make actual content that isn't predicated on talking about himself about the game instead. Even some lazy top 10 guides using old 2006 style video making would probably perform better.

Tried watching some of his videos and it's all clickbait bullshit. Dude even gives out wrong information knowingly like all his sage videos when there was no potency numbers and shit. One of his videos he talks about how he doesn't have a Patreon but he's trying to ride the ADs and algorithm by making his videos as long as fuck.

I've noticed this guy likes to deceptively hide things or obscure certain details that would help his case like this video for example. He said at least three times he received notice about why he was kicked from his raid but he never shows it and the first time I was thinking maybe it was a falling out and the raid group didn't think he was a good fit or they just didn't like him personally. Usually that's how it goes with people like him who are inconsequentially quiet and don't really do anything when they're confronted or in stressful situations and usually in these situations they just move on and go their separate ways. But then he mentioned he was kicked from linkshells, raid discords, and facebook chats and it leads me to believe there's way more to this story he's not telling me because it wasn't just this group that wanted him gone, they had an agenda to see this guy removed from every place that involved raiding. Either his raid static were a bunch of turbo autists who thought he was so bad he needed to be scorned for life, or he did something to them that lead to a large group of people to disassociate with him. He also hasn't gotten any tells to run Ultimate Alexander anymore nor has he made any mention of raids inviting him personally. I'm very suspicious he's not telling the whole truth.

I'm positive he's an unironic gay furry Hrothgar player, because I remember when I first found him he was talking about coming to FFXIV from WoW, he made a comment about how he met who I believe is his now boyfriend and said something to the effect of "Who is this majestic hrothgar?". Considering the tendency for furries to be total spastics, being LGBTBBQ+-SquareRoot, his near DSP levels of "positivity", and tendency to get all depressed and whiny about random shit (like positionals on melee dps or Blizzard shit) I can very much believe he is very capable of causing some drama shit that gets him kicked from a static.

I give it a year tops before some drama comes out about him and he's the typical mega obnoxious furry faglord at best, or something even worse that I don't even think I want to imagine considering we're talking about furries.

As a shitty static leader, I've had to kick people from my statics for a number of various reasons, and 99.99~% of the time it has nothing to do with in-game performance even when they're bad. It's almost always because of petty drama, or a lack of respect to the group as a whole (ie. not showing up on time).

But the fact he seems unwilling to give actual details about why he was kicked, along with the fact he was booted from that entire little community is telling. I'd wager he's a complete drama whore, and people tired of dealing with him. But even still, that doesn't seem like enough to kick him from everywhere unless he started royally sperging out. So that's my best guess.
