Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

Who is this person?
This response is accurate.

He's an ex WoW player who quit to play FFXIV, then made a video basically saying FFXIV should be like WoW, said the story was trash, admits to skipping the story right afterwards and says that the only real great part about FFXIV is the hardcore raiding.

People disagreed with his shit takes but rather than just let it run off the shoulders, he got butthurt at the fags provoking him and then makes an angry response video labeling the entire community of xiv as toxic because some few people were mean to him on the internet.

Lol

Isn't Lynx the cryfag who whined about FFXIV being toxic?
Lynx's argument iirc was that some casuals are passive aggressive dipshits who will openly and sometimes even gleefully shit up your parties with "you don't pay my sub" levels of arguments (you can see this quite a bit in PF progression parties and even farm parties), and that some of them aggressively believe raiding should not exist period. Basically it is a sentiment I've seen steadily grow between casuals/non-raiders and raiders since ARR and especially HW. One side wants more hard/preserve current hard content, and one side wants to remove literally anything above the MSQ level of difficulty because if they can't experience literally everything then the game sucks. It is like a raider saying Gold Saucer is gay because you can't fight a raid boss in it, or the MSQ skipper saying the MSQ is gay because reading a narrative doesn't belong in an MMO.

Who is this person?
He's a hardcore progression raider who's one of the best tank players around, he doesn't obsess with parse/speed run faggotry to my knowledge he effectively just likes doing hard content and he claims that he just unsubs when he clears the fights. I'm listening to the video quoted as I type, but basically the raid team he'd been with for two years had some drama bullshit that compelled him to leave, and he cared about these people as friends, so he took it very personally. So now he just wants to quit. That's what I'm getting.

Última edición:
I've been playing the game for 9 years and have seen everything.

If you get that tilted playing a game then quitting is the best option. Sucks about the drama, but no matter where you go or what game you play, you're gonna find drama. The key is how you deal with it.

I was killed last night in tower run for the 70th time by a tank targeted by darker note. Used to fuck me off every time but now it's just par for the course for me. I end up forgetting about it 2 seconds later.

This is like the 3rd time Lynx has quit isn't it?

Im not going to bother watching it. I already know the reason why he wants to quit, and it's because he's known in the community for being a shithead who harasses people. I'm around in the hardcore community somewhat and I remember him shit talking me in Stormblood unprovoked.

It was really funny watching your stream and seeing you act so fake to people, pretending to be nice. Of course you burnt out of it, you can't force yourself to be a decent human being for even 2 months to build a twitch career

Who is this person?
The only reason I know who this person is: I had an alliance roulette once, think it was Orbonne or something. Chat started exploding with "OMG ARE YOU THE YOUTUBER!?", so I looked him up to see who people were flipping out over. I saw that we were both playing Red Mage. After the instance was done, I checked the parser, because I wanted that pointless dick-measure against the Hardcore Youtuber. I was in first, beat him by like 10 DPS. So I'm officially Kind Of A Big Deal now. I defeated some super hardcore unggggh raider on a class he doesn't main. *flex*

My party is composed of Surface to Air Missiles, Nine Inch Nails, Black Lives Matter and the Democratic National Committee yeeeeeeeeeah, ff14 job initials are funny.

here's how you fix stormblood's story:

make the introductory ala mhigo arc focus on raubahn, with Lyse mostly given to having her own doubts about her own ability and the validity of her participation, much less of asking other people to fight for the resistance when she herself had gone MIA for so long to the point of adopting another identity. There are some hints that this might have been the intention, but the problem is that Lyse at the beginning of SB is identical to Lyse at the end - she's a goodie goodie character who believes in what's right, gosh golly, and stands by her friends no matter what and yadda yadda yadda. It's the same thing the entire expansion, it's the same hackneyed and uninteresting stump speeches and shit.

Have her be completely useless and cluelss at the beginning, neither sure of her own ability nor what a new Ala Mhigo should look like. Have her get caught up in things above and beyond the fighting on the ground and seem a little disconnected, explore the tension between her and the revolutionaries more. Have her reason for coming to Doma instead of staying in Ala Mhigo stem from this uncertainty, and have the story's focus shift naturally from Raubahn - that guy's busy dealing with the legion's advance. Have Lyse leave precisely because she questions whether she really has a place in the revolution. Have her compare herself to Raubahn - he's more confident, he's doing more, people like him more, he's been through more. What's she supposed to do? Use that self-doubt as a way to show a vulnerable side of this functionally new character, make us sympathetic.

The re-introduction of Gosetsu and Yugiri as well as Alisae can all then be used as catalysts for Lyse to realize that their various imperfections are hardly reasons to sit idle and let tyranny reign - so why should she do so? Explore the domans' unyielding loyalty to a cause that many would think pointless, and explore Alisae's desire to step out of her brother's shadow and take a more proactive role in shaping the world. When Hien is finally found, actually give him some character - make him do and decide things, which are obeyed by his subjects, that Lyse finds to be questionable or somewhat misguided. Have her experience a certain culture-shock among the Domans that makes her realize just how important her homeland is to her, and its liberation - as well as its governing and "the day after." Have him make some actual hard choices and condone some pretty heinous things in the name of liberation, say. Hien's father was effectively murdered by the occupiers and his people trodden upon and tortured - yet he's just a loaf of white bread? Change that up, give him a little mettle.

On the return to Gyr Abania, with all those new experiences under her belt, Lyse is better able to rally the oppressed Ala Mhigans and has a clear vision both for what the Ala Mhigo of the future and the very reasons that fighting for independence is preferable to suffering occupation. Maybe have Fordola corner Raubahn and it's only Lyse that comes to the rescue - and the two do that traditional anime thing of fighting while talking about their personal philosophies. Have this be the moment where the resistance finally starts to accept and look up to Lyse, and where she realizes that she has it in her to be a leader: faced with someone sympathetic but of a differing worldview, where the only real conclusion is conflict (rather than with 'lol i like 2 fite'). Have her realize that Fordola's path was motivated out of a concern to protect others, even if it meant engaging in atrocities: have that be something that further gives Lyse pause when thinking about the future of Ala Mhigo, or even how relations between the country and the Garleans might continue in the future.

In this way, you would have an actual character arc for the title's titular character: unsure of herself or her cause, throwing herself into a desperate and dangerous situation for someone else's cause, realizing her own motivation and beliefs, and out of those beliefs a somewhat coherent political philosophy or craving emerges that, through expressing, demonstrates her suitability as a regent for the restoration / a leading figure that would push the liberated country away from autocracy and towards democracy - have her stop comparing herself wholly negatively to Raubahn and instead realize her own strengths might not be the same as his, or Hien's, or so-on.

You could sew the seeds for Shadowbringers' "peace with the beast tribes" narrative even further, establish more clearly why she would be too busy to help the scions out, and give Alisae a meaningful role model akin to Alphinaud's Estinien that the audience would find to be similarly likeable. You could have Stormblood actually fit neatly in the story as its center and turning point: realistically introduce Lyse as a character, have her grow, and have her arc reach its conclusion - signalling that we're now moving to the phase of bringing stories to an end, as a good midpoint in something long like this should.

Instead, we get a boring character who grows in no way through the entire experience, repeatedly gives the same bland, empty goody-goody speech, repeatedly sounds like she has no business being where she is, openly admits that there is no reason she should be the leader of the resistance or the country's effective regent (and lord knows we don't see a reason for that), and who just generally sucks up an annoying amount of time prattling on about fucking nothing at all whatsoever. The story as-is tries to seed some of these ideas, like it clearly wants her experience in Doma to have been some thing that changes or inspires her, or for her to have some amount of doubt - but it fails on each and every level to establish or at all make them satisfying, and it really is her complete wet fart of an arc that butchers the expansion's pacing. Quite really, if you made her story compelling, the Ala Mhigan section feels less like a waste of time and more like necessary setup; the Doman section feels far more meaningful because it's actually contributing to an arc, and the conclusion actually has something to make us feel invested, rather than "i liek sw0rds" squaring off against you and "let's all do the right thing guise, ok?"

Why does it take 'til level fucking 40 to get my AoE on Dragoon?
they need to be sure you have the brain cells to push one button for the next umteen levels on every single last trash pull, and that you're prepared for your aoe combo not refreshing your damage buff in any way. don't grow envious of the leveling BLM, that job is cancer to level because its shit changes constantly. It feels like dogshit except at 80, where it's so fucking smooth it's insane

Lynx quitting is about as predictable as the tides. He'll probably be back. I guarantee that he was at the center of whatever drama caused his raid team to disband because he's as abrasive as they come despite his good boy persona on youtube.

I'm making a Viera boy on NA once they're out and really don't have a preference on server, was thinking of trying end game raids and stuff if that helps on suggestions on which server I should pick. Was hoping to join the FC but it looks like you guys decided on mostly using a linkshell by the few pages I read?

Also NA (post endwalker release), if you haven't done eureka / bozja but want those glams I'm happy to pay it forward and help anyone interested in braindead grinds to make it easier.

If you're not an erper, don't pick Crystal.

Does anyone here experience frequent DCs with their ISP? I have spectrum and play on crystal datacenter on balmung and had to buy one of those VPN tunneling services just so I wouldn't regularly get DCed at night. I have an ethernet connection and the pc is in the same room as the router but ping is anywhere from 90-150 (not horrible but not optimal I guess). Using a service like noping my ping goes down to 45. I monitor my ping using the ACT ping plugin.

I was just wondering if anyone has had similar experiences.

I did hear there was a huge ass server crash including the log in server earlier today but otherwise no, I generally don't get anything like this.

Two things:

1) In the weeks leading up to an xpac release, SE starts hardening the servers to handle increased load and also to mitigate DDoS attacks. This can cause intermittent connectivity issues.

2) SE's ISP for NA, NTT, is notorious for getting into disputes over peering with the other big NA ISPs and T1 providers. During late 5.1 and early 5.2, there was a dispute between NTT and Comcast that would often make the game unplayable outside of peak hours if you were on Comcast (or any of the other cable providers that use their T1 infrastructure).

In case of 1), the problems should go away soon once the backend stuff is settled. In case of 2), expect connectivity issues to periodically occur until as late as March 2022 (when the new fiscal year causes all the ISPs to renegotiate their peering agreements).
