Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

Here's their giant apology for the delay

tl;dr: Yoshi-P didn't feel the quality was up to snuff for Endwalker being this big finale for FFXIV's 11 year long narrative arc after he played the entire content, he then cut into QA time to continue refining the content. He also mentions server stability being an issue of concern, though I'm not sure what this will change. According to the stream this schedule change was made 5 whole days ago.

Well, some people will be mad but personally I'd rather wait and get a better game.

I wish there was a longer version of the 1st song.

Also:
bye bye alphy...

Even as someone who has the highest hopes for this game, I can't help but point out that the last time i saw something delayed this late was Cyberpunk 2077.

Expansion delayed by two weeks. RIP people who took time off to play.

Yoshida is crying on stream.
He better be crying, I took two weeks off work to play this and not only will I be back by the time it releases now, I cant move my vacation this late, the best I can do is cancel it and save the time for later.
Yoshi-p, son I am disappoint.

Oh no! Y'shtola and Thancred!
Oh no! Y'shtola and Krile!
Oh no! Gosetsu!
Oh no! Y'shtola!
Oh no! Thancred!
Oh no! G'raha!
Oh wait...

They better have the damn stones. rip papalymo, you a real nigga
If there's anything I hate about FFXIV's writing is they use fake out deaths way too often. The twins are some of my favorite scions, but if they pull an FF4 on them and stick with it, I'll fucking cheer.

They've not killed a soul in ages, if they actually kill Alphie I'll be genuinely surprised. I don't see them giving him a new job and outfit only to off him.

I'm a bit glad it was delayed, moneys been tight these past weeks, I might be able to save just enough buy the expac.

I have no idea what they can fix in two weeks given their slow pipeline. Yoshida's time is stretched thin as is.

I'm expecting a very tumultuous expansion launch. FFXIV networking code is not good and they've resorted to all sorts of roundabout ways to add features (saddlebag, glamour dresser, removing belts).

Servers. They talked about being concerned about server stability, and I think it's likely there were setbacks expanding and fixing the issues. Rather than go forward with the launch and experience a Diablo 3 level launch, they probably decided just to delay in the hopes they could get it worked out for a semi-stable launch.

Cool, Anima will be in Endwalker.

Also I beat Orbonne Monastery. I said I never beat it and the other healer put a marker on himself and told me to just stand where he stands. Couldn't be easier.

They probably have a mountain of hotfixes for Endwalker zones that they can't properly QA in time for the original launch. I imagine since the story is longer, their MSQ-based snapshotting for zones is probably more convoluted this time around and they have weird shit like NPCs or set pieces not appearing in the right places during certain stages of MSQ progression etc

This is just going off what I saw early in ShB's patch cycle and also WoW's frequent problems with the overworld not properly reflecting quest progress. It could also be netcode problems like other posters suggested.

Doesn't Minfilia count?
Eh, sorta-kinda. Both she and Ardbert ended up dying in a similar fashion though theirs is more fulfilling their purpose than a shock. I was still more surprised that G'raha didn't actually bite it than them.
