Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

I've seen the bard changes (that's my main class come at me) and bard's looking pretty good from what I see. I still wish I had an aoe debuff ability and the ability to see debuffs through the enemy list though.

Never wanted to pick up summoner before, but after seeing the changes, I might pick this job up because it looks kind of fun.

Apparently they've touched up the fairy's responsiveness for scholar, so I'm cautiously optimistic about the job being in a good place for this expansion.

bard owns but it definitely needs AOE DOTs or something, kind of surprised they didn't add that or spruce up its AOE mechanics, personally I would have halved the cooldown on Shadowbite and given it a Bane effect

I'm sure it'll perform well. It always seems to get by.

I'm just worried about the fact they didn't touch up any of the job's janky systems. The lack of change makes it feels like those design choices are intentionally meant to act in contradictory ways. And that'd be fine if it was fun and intuitive to play. But it's pretty shit in end-game content. It performs just fine, but it's miserable to play.

I'm sure the people who like it will be really happy. But I'm way more hyped for sage or even astro than scholar. Feels bad.

Repertoire already procs often with only a few sets of DoTs running, neither the server or you would be able to register inputs fast enough to use all the procs from a whole crowd of DoTed mobs.

@Not Gay Jared's link for mRDPS mentioned they had notably improved Demi-Bahamut's AI, so I think applying it to the fairy would be simple enough.

counterpoint: Thunder IV

this was a problem BLM similarly had in Ye Oldene Dayes which they fixed by giving them a way to spread their thunder DOT and trimming the damage/proc chance to compensate

Fair enough.
Really, it just seems like the devs don't like having to balance out or deal with DoTs anymore, especially with the SMN changes. I don't know if it's because the spaghetti code fucks with them or vice versa, the Japanese player base doesn't like "DoT Master" type of gameplay, or DoTs are just a pain in the ass to keep balanced.
Tinfoil hat time: Maybe they're stealing all the DoTs to give to Necromancer eventually.

I think I'll forgo watching job overview vids to spare myself having to listen to autists break everything down to a molecular level for their stupid savage raiding scene. I'll just play around with the jobs when EW on a striking dummy to get a feel for them at my own pace and learn the job on my own. Things may be different by the time EW rolls around anyway so no use trying to learn everything now. The game isn't going anywhere it'll still be there when I get off work and get home @ 6pm.

Besides I play all the jobs and trying to learn 17 jobs plus 2 new ones is going to cause all the wrinkles I have left on my brain to completely smooth over.

Some aren't bad. As irritating as I find Larryzaur, his overview vids were just that: concise overviews covering the basic changes. I think the only ones longer than 5m were the new jobs (and Summoner), and I don't think those even broke 15m. Mostly just covering the ability tooltips and talking about basic rotations.
I find him obnoxious, but I gotta give credit where it's due, and somehow he made the most tolerable job overview vids so far imo.

I feel the same way, one of the greatest joys of this game for me is learning to play every class well, and nothing beats that new car smell of cracking open a fresh expansion with new classes and new class changes and sitting in front of a target dummy and letting the autism carry you away

watching a guide video for a class I haven't already played extensively is like listening to an idiot explain the entire plot of a movie I really wanted to see myself

Why do you find him obnoxious? Is it cause of his trying too hard voice?

Also not him, but he just has that kid trying too hard to be funny to impress his peers energy.

Though I did check out his DRG changes video because it was under 5 minutes, I just wanted to know what changes I had to look forward to. FINALLY Disembowel refresh on AOE combo, I could kiss Yoshida's feet for that one.

YES THIS. I cannot stand that, its so forced it makes me cringe. I cannot watch him.

I hope summoner losing all its dots means we're getting necro or a proper dot class in the future. New summoner looks pretty amazing but I love dot classes unlike the majority of people, I guess.

I'm trying to play blackmage at a decent level but im terrible at managing enochian and leylines. I wish there was a way I could separate the buff from my others and make it super big next to my hotbar.

Yeah. I guess that's it. I think I find him so annoying because he's clearly knowledgeable and could make great content, but instead he just seems determined to get on my nerves.
Doing the voice and the bit would be fine every once in a while when it's fitting but it's like his whole persona lol. I just find it grating.

But his overviews were decent, so I gotta give him credit for that at least.

Black Mage in Endwalker looks good with updated AoE rotation
time to put Fire 2 and Blizzard 2 back to the hotbar

they're adding this in Endwalker. applied buffs (procs, class mechanics, i.e. Firestarter, Thundercloud, etc.) are going to have a separate buff bar. if you watch Yoshida's gameplay segments during the last Live Letter stream he has all his class buffs sitting under his gauges:
