Fiction That Insulted You Personally?

My wokedar helps me avoid things that will insult me, but there was a scene in Billions that pissed me off. Paul Giamatti's character is telling a story about how he and his friends used to play Cowboys and Indians, and another white guy cuts him off to correct him and say "Native Americans."

Goddamn that pisses me. As a real-life "Native American" I can attest that we call each other Indians all the time. The Rez is called Indian Country for a reason. Holy fuck, do-gooding white people are a cancer, and if there weren't so few of us already I'd just call it a day and cut my fucking wrist to escape this faggot Clown World.

Billions is such a great show, but that kind if stuff drives me crazy. I am not a fan of the zim/zer they put in the cast, either. Has it 41%ed yet?

The Communist Manifesto... it almost made me want to read more Marx just to see how mad I could get. The only saving grace was that I purchased it on Amazon, knowing that I used Marx's legacy to oil the cogs of Capitalism soothed the rage a little.

It's a Wonderful Life.

I have nothing against seeing the world through rose-tinted glasses, but everything has a limit. I promised myself to never watch a Frank Capra film ever again in my life.

Red Storm Rising.

Could be that when it came out my drunken ass was sitting in West Germany and the book basically went "LOL US Army sucks!" It pissed me off so bad I just hucked the book out the side of the tent and read the ingrediants on the MRE package instead.

I got so pissed I wrote to Tom Clancy to bitch him out about knowing the first fucking thing about US Army doctrine, training, preparation, standard practices and deployment plans that were unclassified and a monkey could look up if it had his contacts. It was the most autistic thing I'd ever fucking written, right down to blasting him about the tanker scenes, the fact he got a soldier's basic loadout wrong, and he obviously knew jack and shit about the ground war and might want to stick to the Navy and Air Force and retard snake eaters and not ever touch a ground war story again.

I'd forgotten all about it, and he wrote me back. I mean, talk about a fucking shocker.

Two series my older brother recommended me were absolutely insulting.

The first, 13 Reasons Why, is about a bitch killing herself and then leaving the people who "caused" her to commit suicide tapes (MUH 80'S) about how mean they were to her, all to manipulate them (sounds similar to something that happened recently, no?). The protagonist is a simp for the girl who gets the tape and rather than do it all in one go listens to it glacially slow to pad out the runtime.
Besides not appreciating the viewer's time since it could have been a film rather than a 10 hour slog (I gave up midway through). It's obviously written by a budding male school shooter due to the mindset of killing yourself in revenge.
It's a manipulative work about the hardship of being a woman, written by a man, that could only have been made since people wouldn't give a shit if the protagonist was a boy. A show that shows how petty is the modern American millenial that killing yourself is a gotcha and it's never your fault for being a massive pussy with bad decision making.

The second is Master of None, a show about shitskins living in some urban faggot location. While the first episode was just regular bad (with stuff like the protagonist being criticized for leaving a girl with a Karen rather than some hipster lowlife, because sexism). The second one was just infuriating.
It shows the parents of the protagonists struggling against racism when they first came to the states (including fake as shit "we don't serve your kind around here"). At the end of the episode the families to eat at the restaurants owned by one of the parents and then there's a joke that they shouldn't order from the regular menu since it's shit food and that there is a secret menu only for people from the asian community.
How the fuck is that better than what the evil whites did? At least they told you you're not welcome rather than take your money, serve you low grade food and then laughing about it. It's the kind of shit that I refuse to believe you are an intelligent being if you don't immediately notice the double standard.

Ready Player One. As someone who read YA trash when I was younger, this was awful even for that standard. I thought it was a parody of the genre, but then I realized this was actually meant to be the writer's best effort. Reading it was like RLM's nerd crew come to life, where references and consuming products are the only things people are capable of. And then I found out it got a movie, which is sad cause it meant people actually wanted to adapt this story.

I still don't think a good fiction story about gaming exists, all of it comes off as blatant pandering to disguise their poor writing.

And you just leave it there?!
Mostly he appreciated me writing the letter.

Then he pointed out that over 1/2 my letter was redacted when he got it, and that it was photocopies of my letter, not even the original.

He told me that a lot of what I considered standard 'everyone knows this' was still not something the US military wanted in books and he'd gotten in trouble before for coming close to actual specs and tactics in his writing. He pretty much told me that the biggest challenge of writing the book was he had to ignore the doctrine he was able to research and eventually he just settled on writing a good story and giving the Russians 'improved barrel sleeve' weapons had been a good way to do that, as well as having the part with the tankers put down by a stomach bug.

He was pretty nice in the letter, considering I'd chewed him out. Usually he got letters nitpicking one little thing that was up for debate depending on what was declassified, and I'd basically ripped everything up, complete with references to FM's and TM's and TRADOC publications. (Most of which were redacted out)

He closed it with basically telling me that he took writing as serious as I obviously took the military, and he hoped that I and everyone I knew stayed safe.

Kind of surprising considering I probably came off as a complete autist. It made me really respect him as a person.

Nowadays an author would probably just take to Twitter and whine about privilege and harassment.

Gone Girl was so absolutely miserable that it remains the only movie I’ve walked out on. At no point does anyone have any actual agency within its plot, save the sociopathic cunt that starts the whole thing. After walking out, I was able to guess the ending pretty accurately. The characters are too unlikeable for it to work as a tragedy, and no one actually gets theirs for it to fit a similar role to Always Sunny.

Do Tron movies and Last Star Fighter not count as good movies about gaming?

The ending of The Stand ticked me off real good. What was the fucking point of the protagonists trekking across the country and sacrificing themselves of the literal hand of God was just gonna come down and nuke Las Vegas anyways? The whole plot literally has no point because regardless of what the protagonists did, it would’ve resolved itself through literal divine intervention anyways.
If I'm not mistaken King himself said that the planning of the story was wrong to begin with, and that he risked to lose the book because he found himself blocked more or less at the point when the heroes build a community in Boulder, so he had to find a solution to go on. Pretty sure that in the Las Vegas part something similar happened. I still think that The Stand is kept together with spit and prayers.

The Disney Star Wars movies insulted my love for world building.
The movies revel in the fact that there are no such thing as continuity, consequences, territory or logistics.
It's never established who controls what. The different factions just spawn ships out of the ether, literally at one point.
Shit just happens, and the people who made them just expect me to not care about such things and instead just look at the pretty colors.

The Assassins Creed series insults me by wasting my time. The first one was good and had a great atmosphere. By the second it was going off the rails a bit with repetitive content. By the third game I realized they were now padding out incredibly flimsy and poorly implemented plotlines, and it was clear the makers did not value my time.
From what I've heard it has not gotten better.

Cut chapters were also added later to the book, including a guy reminiscing about how he swore he saw Jim Morrison at a gas station years after his death. It's got some more setting relevant parts just to show you what happened to people from various walks of life. I don't think any of it was in the first movie save for maybe the guy stuck in prison. But it's been a long time.

Plus in the book, nuking the west coast didn't put an end to Flagg anyway. He comes back on an island full of uncontacted people who think he's a god.

Things like this make me afraid to use the word "Indian" irl. I never know if it's really an issue or just something woke white people wine about.

I never correct people like that because it's stupid, but I do feel like I have to say Native American because there are so many people from India where I live now. I don't like implicating Native Americans with stuff the street shitters do.

Beating a dead horse - The Last Jedi.

I hate what they did to Luke, I hate Holdo and her purple hair, I hate Rose Tico, I hate that Finn and Rose's side story was distracting and unnecessary, and I especially hated the 2 and a half hour runtime.

I also feel like this film is responsible for so many new works that shit on older works all for the sake of "subverting expectations."

I personally don't get mad at media much but there is stuff that I consider insulting as in it manages to piss me off the more I think about it especially with how people react to it.

Movies: The Star Wars Sequel Trilogy - It's beating a dead horse at this point but these films literally are an insult to storytelling. They make a trilogy without even a foundation for it and have the dumbest plot points that you'd expect come out of some loser's fanfiction from the Mary Sue Protagonist who barely has a character beyond her being strong, the most soulless fight scenes and moments that feel like they are plagiarized from the original, and garbage plot twists that highlighted the need to unnecessarily subvert tropes. The shit with Palpatine was the most desperate ploy to ride off the coattails of Avengers Endgame by making this grand finale that was really unearned because you care little for the characters. The worst part is conceptually there were good ideas that have been wasted like with Stormtroopers becoming good and a lot of good acting performances that have been wasted on this shit (mainly Adam Driver, Harrison Ford, Andy Serkis, Mark Hamill, and some of the other actors for the space nazis). I would've said Ian McDiarmid who is a great actor but his direction was horrible and gave a very subdued boring performance compared to the absolute hamminess he can deliver in the Prequels.

Manga/Comics: Pretty much Attack on Titan after the timeskip since it introduces really retarded ideas and the laziest worldbuilding ever so the conflict can just be an us vs them conflict that is done in the dumbest way possible. While there are good moments and characters here and there, it's undermined by the main character being a poorly written edgelord who then turns out to be doing some Dr. Strange shit to only then pull the most obvious twist right at the end. Most of the themes were clearly too much for the author to handle and he lacked understanding of how they work. His portrayal of racism is something you'd see in a Dhar Mann video rather than a supposed mature manga. The worst part is that most of the fanbase only talks about the ending or the retarded side act like screeching retards who supported a candidate who lost an election with the way they whined about how their favorite fictional character lost and it didn't go according to plan (read: Shitty theory based on a music video).

Video games: Depression Quest - It is a very insulting game that literally has no idea what it's talking about despite being a game that is meant to help show Depression. It's just a boring person being sad and sulking. It's really boring and has no real value. The reason this insults me is that this stupid boring video game had caused an entire culture war on the internet and has actively harmed discourse on the internet because at the root of it was a shitty game that is free which fails to simulate depression.

Anime/TV: Pretty much Isekai Smartphone because it insults me since it is pretty much almost everything wrong with modern anime compact into one show with the boring overpowered protagonist who didn't earn their powers and has the only notable trait of "I'm a nice guy" and really boring side characters who solely exist to suck the main character's dick with villains who are barely there. Literally this show is basically if Sonichu became a TV show yet lacked none of the charm or goofiness it had and instead was just a bland boring show that is just a byproduct of bad tropes.
