I am a human, i simply see no point in defining movements as being centric on a specific sub category and even naming it as such...in the name of equality no less.

That is just me. Post away, you wont change my view. To say feminism is the pinnacle of an inclusive equal rights movement is, to me, as insane as masculism, a word i simply made up.
 
Women in charge of everything is pretty kinky. I don't know why the fedoras are against it so much.
 
From what I have seen the majority of game designers are male, so it makes a bit of sense they'd make games starring male characters. That being said, the gender of the protagonist in a game really doesn't matter to me. I spend no time at all pondering why the main character is male or female. If the concept, gameplay and story is good, i'll enjoy the game.

Look, there's a lot of people who kick and scream about the fact that women and minorities are underrepresented, but that doesn't mean someone who wants more representation in video games doesn't want good game mechanics and a good story. I'm not even asking that female/minority representation be a requirement, or a quota to be met, but the problem is that up until recently very few developers ever even CONSIDERED putting a woman or minority in the starring role, in fact on a lot of occasions the publishers and their CEOs and marketing departments (most of whom tend to come from a packaged goods background, not a video game background) would blindly insist on the story being about a white male because they want to be the next Call of Duty.

If the idea you have is important enough to you that you want to share it with the world and you really believe in it, you should share it, no matter how many people are offended. If you've done your homework enough, and constructed some good logic and evidence to back it up, you should put it out there and to hell with anyone who tries to dismiss it without first showing an error in your argument.

Lots of people think that they can simply beat their chests and shout sound ideas down, and perhaps they might succeed for a time if they have enough people, but they'll eventually get tired of shouting, and when they do some of them will realize they're being stupid and their numbers will start to dwindle until there is only a rational discourse.

I'm sorry to hear that. I don't know if she's tried to argue back, but it seems ridiculous that they're actually trying to promote feminism by bullying her about how she chooses to exercise her autonomy. If she hasn't gotten through to them, I recommend a pie to the face. Sure, it won't solve anything, but it'll be hilarious.

People do, actually, and basically always have... since ever. If you don't, then you might want to see your local mental health professional and make sure that you're not actually a sociopath. People care about fictional characters a lot. Maybe not as much as they do real people, but they care, especially if the character is well written. When Sir Conan Arthur Doyle killed off Sherlock Holmes, there was an infamous uproar about it, all over a person who didn't exist.

So yes, the answer there would be people.

Or instead of acknowledging that I might have a point, you can pretend that we were only ever talking about video game characters after the fact in a desperate attempt to reduce my argument into something that is not only absurd but also not what I was necessarily implying. Whatever works for you, hun.
 
My thoughts on feminism:

Rational feminism goes as far as merely giving women equal footing with men. Not greater. Also, as long as it doesn't oppose healthy sexuality, or claiming that "sexualization" is "objectification" or "sexism" per se, it's rational. Nor does it oppose a woman's right to choose traditional roles. I also kind of like "sex positive feminism" to a degree as well.
 
So, if we made all video game characters black, lesbian, transgender women, it won't matter right? I mean, surely there would not be a shit fit of epic proportions, because clearly these things do not matter.

If you're playing a shooter all you see is a gun and your enemies falling down, shit exploding and whatnot. Whether it's a straight white dude holding said gun or a lesbian black tranny ultimately doesn't mean shit to the gaming experience. If anything, it'd be hilarious to play and hilarious to see people's reactions.

Whoever gets genuinely upset over the race, sexuality or gender of video game characters is just a massive sperg, no matter how you look at it. :lol: People should not get all political and butthurt over this, it's retarded. To many extreme sides are being taken over shit 99% don't really give a damn about.

Like someone was talking about in chat, spergs bitching that feminists are ruining their games.
 
For some reason, every single MRA or extreme anti-feminist I've ever encountered seems to be a forever alone virgin with rage.
It appears that hating women and not getting laid go hand in hand. Who woulda thunk?

For me, its about the people feeling a need to push for a change to be represented equally in a market they do not share equally in, not the characters in games.
