Weirdly, that seems less creepy than the other kind. I think it's that the obvious fakeness doesn't trigger the uncanny valley horrorfest that the hyper-realistic version does.And of course as with many creepy fetishes, the Japanese did it first. They call it Animegao Kigurumi, "anime-faced costume", although the term "doller" is also used. It seems to be part of the cosplay scene, rather than LGBT, but it's definitely similar in concept.

I've seen tons of these at conventions before. They're always 30-50 year old dudes who go around giggling and asking for hugs.
