This is a very steange choice for phil to play. Once you get towards the middle-late game in subnautica it's all about exploration. Even with a map knowing where to go is a cunt of a problem. There is no ingame map and very few landmarks to orient yourself by. At least when I played there were no up to date maps so everything was wrong in one way or another.

Even when he does find everything to make all the things he needs to explore most of it is in caves that are even more confusing. The game itself is great but it REALLY REALLY doesn't lend itself to DSPs style of rushing through things as fast as possible.

If he continues to play after his first ship gets destoryed I'll be amazed.

It's Minecraft, the underwater version. He'll play it to get dumbasses like Papavera-whatever to tell him what to do quarters and dollars at a time. He's already repeatedly saying "Where is that? How do I build that? I don't see it" in a combination of genuine stupidity and cheer-baiting. If he hadn't been given this game, he would never touch it.

I dunno about that. It's a survival game; you can't terraform the planet, even though you have to build. However even then once you get the sub there's no real need to do so. This game is a proper game in that it has an ending so he can theoretically beat the game.

That's fair. I mean moreso that it's not 100% linear directed gameplay, and he's treating it exactly like Minecraft in terms of not even pretending to give a shit about being creative on his own.

*cough*
A) As per D$P's Tweet, it is the job of his Chat to TELL him what to do via tips and cheers. It's a 'Chill Interactive game stream'.
B) D$P, creative? BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!111one Oh, sorry, were you being serious?

To be fair Subnautica is very limited in terms of creativity. It's more about survival and optimizing this survival, make some decisions for the future, explore, gather resources for new and better equipment.

For me the creativity is to search for a cool looking place to build a base (but it also has to be profitable), color your submarine and give it a name, stack your base modules in a way that kinda looks good. And with limited resources you can even do less.

So this game is quite perfect for his needs. Chat can tell him where to find blueprints, what to craft next, where to go (fixed map, not random) to reach the end of the game. The perfect handholding.

When reading this, I think of the following:

I just tuned in. Why is DSP calling for mods? People talking about Raw or something unrelated to giving DSP money?

John Cuck and Swaggins are actively poisoning Phil's stream like no mod team I've ever seen. They're practically 80% of the chat, talking back and forth to each other, tevin meming, caps locking, congratulating each other on bans, and allowing a 20 minute conversation about furries while Phil sits there asking for step-by-step directions on how to build something in Subnautica.

"This game fucking sucks! Now I'm legitmately pissed off because of this BOOLSHEET crafting, what a waste of my fucking time! I dont wanna play this shit anymore, what a total garbage game!"

BTW he almost done today's streaming, total tip$40

At the very end of the stream Timboslice did a 101 bit cheer

THats enough to overtake the top cheerer spot

What a sad stream

Phil acknowledged the cheer, and said: " It's just a slow stream, people did not step up, it is what it is, but thank you for Timbo and I will update the leaderboard"

"It's a slow day man, 2 streams, no one contributed, I hope things will pick up tomorrow because I NEED IT"

He also spelt the top tipper's name wrong, not that he cares

What a sad stream

I think the funniest thing was Phil thanking chat for telling him exactly what to do because "how in the world would I figure out how to do anything?" Couldn't, you know, try things out and fuck around in an exploration game, obviously.

That sums Phil up pretty well--a 36 (37?) year old "man" who is so inept he cannot figure out literal children's games (Minecraft, Subnautica, Lego series) without handholding.

Everytime he says "I need it" I just want for someone in the chat to type "What you need is a 9$ boot to the ass you lazy dumb fat fuck"

Somebody tells him there is an island to the southwest. Phil said the map was randomly generated. The chat told him the map is the same for everyone. Okay, that kind of sucks...

A few minutes later, after Phil for no apparent reason heads southwest, he finds an island. Oh my God! An island! Look I found an island! There is an island in this game! I had no idea! Oh my God! How cool! I found an island!

Not a clown or a children's entertainer.

It's very entertaining feeding him misinformation or false hope when he needs help setting things up or locating objectives. Chat is one of the few things he has left in life, and when more people join in on the sabotage he gets super pissed as he realizes his errors only after the damage is done.

"I don't know what to do! Oh my godddd I don't know what to do! Backwards? Rotate? Deconstruct? Huh?"

only a sociopath would have a hard time answering such an easy question
When's the last time Phil interacted with a decent or good person? He thinks Rambo and Howard slighted him. The people who sold him his condos ripped him off. His accountant screwed him. Panda broke his heart. His parents cheated and he doesn't respect them. He knows Kat is a cheater, liar, and in on his schemes.

It's no wonder he can't answer, it's been a decade since he had a conversation with a "good" person by his standards.

What Phil consider interacting with chat:
Going through the spaceship!
Phil: "Did i get everything? Anyone that played this before make me know if im got all the important stuff1"

And chat tells him what he missed, besides a few other things!

No wonder he dont grow since watching him play games is hold a toddlers hand and telling it what to do!
Rather play a game myself than telling a grown man how to play it.
