In retrospect, the plots are a mess, the worst, toxic kind of dark fantasy literature slop, most interesting enemies are just stolen from other properties, and the characters are shitttier gayer versions of tropes done a billion times better in other ips. The only thing that makes it different is the hack "hardcore" gameplay and implied hardcore fetishes. That's it.
Daan and Karen are the only unironically good parts of the second game. I am honestly suprised Miro allowed this dynamic, given his apparent distaste for women unless they are male in some way. I feel like any enjoyment in the franchise is either liking how violent it is (which is the main selling point, especially as it isn't regarded as porn, despite 100% being gore porn), or sunk cost fallacy of "I wasted so much time watching videos about the game, it can't possibly be meaningless gore porn".
On the serious note, Olivia is a boring nothingburger for those hard mode masochists who want to play with a legless debuff from the start. She is ugly in-universe, as it seems, since Miro doesn't even add her as a "lust woman" in the confession booth in the version that I have played. Trannies over crippled women, everyone!
I theories that her appeal to some men is the same as Velma's from Scoobie Doo. She looks pity-inducing and pathetic enough to give them a chance I mean, to be "moe" and "must protect" feeling inducing. Jeepers!
Now that I think of it, all female chars, aside from Karen, feel like a diversity hire. A masculine strong chick for them feminists and creepy male fetishists (also she is potentially a closeted pooner?), a "woman" with a dick, a wheelchair cripple who can miraculously fight with no problems aside from a random kicked off chair chance. Barely any bright personality or writing shining here, aside maybe from the tranny's too developed sideplot but that's because he is actually male and thus deserves it in Miro's eyes.
No wonder I assumed Karen is going to be like that foodie guy and get killed off quick, Miro tried to make her insufferable to the audience but ended up with unintentional charm. While the troon, when not playing as him, is annoying - the dialogue which for sure was meant to make him charming is eye-rollingly bad, which is saying a lot, because most of the dialogue here is corny my-first-game-on-jrpg-maker type af.

Yeah, that's about it. I didn't get the appeal of the first game initially and skipped immediately to the second because I was curious about the dark fantasy WWI setting. Didn't even initially notice the tranny backstory, since the creator looked like a chud to me. In the hindsight, I should have figured. There has to be a mod where Marina is just made into a normal woman and any dialogue of her being "trans" is just her being a rebellious daughter type instead. Maybe change the lore a littls to where the Dark Priesthood is not exclusively male and that she was groomed to being a Dark Nun or whatever but she didn't want to live that life.
