Favourite synth of all time?

Just picked up a Juno 106 for an amazing price, wanted to see what some of ya'll thought. The juno's wicked since it's got that warm retro sound, thinking of picking up a deepmind 12 now.

Jupiter 8. Everything about it is just aesthetically pleasing to look at and the sounds are so rich. It's built like a fucking tank too.

Also partial to the JP-8000/8080, it's very versatile beyond just doing cheesy 90's trance leads.

Far as monosynths go, the SH-101 or the Minimoog, it's a coin toss.

Agreed, I just got a Juno 106 for $500 was broken so I spent $300 getting it back up too speed. I was very iffy about doing this but really now I heard it, I’m so glad

So is every other hobby.
You can go buy Behringer clones of half the classic stuff if you don't have any personal ethical dilemma about dealing with a shitty company. Either that, or build your own shit but even something like the RE-303 is still gonna run you upwards of 1k because half the BOM is old sourced parts and pure fucking unobtanium.

I've always loved the Korg M1 but I only use it as a controller for an Audiothingies Micromosta these days.

The Behringer stuff is a lot better than I was expecting. I've got the Deepmind 12, 101, VC 340, Pro 1, Neutron and Boog D. I've also been thinking about getting some of the proper modular stuff they have been putting out.

Moog Grandmother midi'd up with a Minitaur and a load of minifoogers is what I'm currently playing with for fun.

The Juno 106 is a great synth. Simple workflow and easy to program patches. Great sound. A lot of them have a really noisy chorus bad voice chips now. I'm fucking old and got one back in the 90s when people were pretty much giving them away. There is an awesome hardware add-on/mod kit called the Kiwi 106 that adds bunch of functionality (https://www.kiwitechnics.com/kiwi-106.htm).

Best of all time? Hard to say. I'm a big fan of Oberheim synths. A lot of them have that dual mode filter which is pretty cool. They always seem to have a very goth/darkwave kind of sound. I also really like Waldorf stuff.

Waldorf are a funny company. I know somebody who has a Wave and once you get your head around it then it's an amazing thing but so much of their stuff leaves me cold when I know I should love it.

i used to have a juno 6 and it was amazing.
now i have a deepmind 6 and a whole roomful of classic old vermona synths and organs. also a full size casio from the 80s and early yamaha midi module for old school sounds.
the deepmind has a huge range of functions and a great sound. you could spend forever creating new sounds with the modulation matrix, also easy to upload patches straight from chrome on sites like deepremind

Not many musicians actually bothered to program it for its full potential but even the stuff made with the defaults like Highway to the Danger Zone and Strike a Pose were solid cuts for the time.

I have always been a fan of the Korg MS-20. Its a fantastic first synth if you're new to subtractive synthesis.

I currently use Korg's MS-20 plugin with an M-Audio Hammer 88 due to limited floor space. The plugin costs about 100 (frequently on sale for much lower) and with a junk 13 key, you're well equipped to bang out some jams:
