🍗 Deathfat Fat Acceptance Movement / Fat Girlcows

It sucks but advocating for yourself is a common theme what would they give someone in a thinner body the same advice!
Yes Jaime they would. They may not offer a GLP1 (dependent on how much thinner a body they have), but diet and lifestyle changes are always up there when people have “symptoms” of illness/injury. In other words, don’t continue the behaviours that caused you these symptoms.

And I think almost all doctors would agree that eating mostly whole, unprocessed/minimally processed foods (not in excess) and regular exercise is something everyone should do, even people in “thinner bodies”

Yeah but she can only blame herself for her condition but since personal responsibility is impossible she needs to blame the mean old doctors who know better that if she just lost the weight those problems would go away.

It's almost like being morbidly obese like she is is a bad thing.

What do doctors know anyway? It's not like they've spent their entire lives learning about the human body and how to fix certain issues. No. Jaimie, and other landwhales like her, knows best.

Mom refuses to stop buying the food, nor will she inform the kid that the food is exceptionally fattening: to do so would be diet culture! Having tried nothing, she is now "all out of ideas." Help, HAES fam! What to do?!?!?!
As an ideological group shrinks, the moderates are the first to detach and leave. Once they’re gone, the hardcore ideologues double down and don’t bother softening their beliefs.

Refusing to tell a teenager that a jar of peanut butter contains 2000 calories is a wild example though.

Being unable to refuse soda to your child with renal insufficiency is pure weak will, though.

A new post from the HAES parenting group on Facebook.

Mom is not asking for advice, she's just sooooooo irritated! Her sturdy five-year-old got sick and lost seven pounds, and her asshole mom, who is a registered dietitian, acted like that was a good thing! 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

Can I just share my irritation here? I have a sturdy 5 year old that is 90lbs 4 feet tall and wears a size 2 shoe. His doctor isn't concerned about his size and I'm not either. He eats a good variety of all types of foods. He recently had back to back viruses including the flu and a double ear infection where he lost nearly 7lbs. I was telling my parents about it and they said things like 'hopefully he can keep it off' and 'are you going to feed him smaller portions now'. For background information my mom is a dietitian so you can imagine the things I've heard in my life. Sometimes its hard to argue the psychological part of raising a child anti-diet with a 'professional'.

One commenter says that sooooo many registered dietitians like OP's mom have eating disorders, you wouldn't believe it! OP's mom is probably pro-ana too.
Screenshot 2026-02-18 082509.png
I have a friend who is a therapist that specializes in eating disorders and she says you wouldn’t believe the amount of dietitians and nutritionists she sees.

This registered dietitian says tt's important to use weight neutral talk.
Screenshot 2026-02-18 082120.png
Dietitian here. I grabbed onto weight neutral talk as soon as I knew it was an option.
I wish your mom was more on top of the psychology research and could approach from a more compassionate angle.
We are not just biology in a bag. We are humans and we deserve to eat. (So do non-humans too, btw

A couple other parents of sturdy five-year-olds chime in. One mom has had to explain to all of her daughter's doctors that the sturdiness is actually normal.

I can so relate. My son is 5 and also 90 lbs. 51-52 ish inches and Size 3 shoes.
People comment on his size including family members.

My girl is 5, 4ft tall, 97 lbs, and we've been through it all including genetic testing twice. Honestly I just stop talking about her size to the people in our lives that make comments just like that, and i have to stress to all of her drs that for her, this is normal. My grandmother was 6ft tall and wore a size 13 shoe. Unheard of back then. My girl takes after her. But bmi charts don't reflect the family tree.
🤦‍♀️
I have no real advice, but I'll stand with you in solidarity all day.

OK, so we've got three separate sturdy five-year-olds in this post:
  • One boy is 51.5 inches and 90 lbs (131 cm / 40.8kg) with a BMI of 23.9,
  • One boy is four feet tall and 90 lbs (122 cm / 40.8 kg) with a BMI of 27.5,
  • One girl is four feet tall and weighs 97 lbs (122 cm/ 44 kg) with a BMI of 29.6.
By BMI, the first kid is in the 99.8th percentile and both of the latter kids are in the 99.99th percentile. They are all classified as "Severely Obese Sturdy", but we all know that BMI is a useless metric and does not reflect the family tree! The girl's grandmother had very large feet, after all.

All of the HAES parenting posters are anonymous so we can't go looking for pics of the actual kids in question, but there was an article in the Daily Mail about a British five-year-old who weighs 7 stone = 98 lbs = 44.5 kg, so almost exactly as sturdy as the kids in the post. Take a look at her and I'm sure you'll agree with OP's priorities of raising her own sturdy child to be vehemently anti-diet!

It is horrifying to me these women are real because they are defending neglecting their children and steering them straight into a lifetime of health and body image issues. This is awful.
The little girl whose photos I posted came from an article about her struggle with Prader-Willi syndrome. The mom is very sympathetic imho, Prader-Willi is a difficult disease to reckon with and she's telling her story while acknowledging her child's serious health concerns. Meanwhile, the HAES parents come to the group to be told that there is no evidence that weight is correlated to health risks, their severely obese children are completely healthy, and it is the dietitans and doctors who are wrong, actually. Their fear of giving their kids anorexia by "restricting" food in any way is a total fantasy.

There are two possible explanations for these severely obese Kindergarteners and I don't know which one I hate more: they're simply overfed by parents who give them 24/7 access to cookies, or they have treatable underlying health conditions which have gone undiagnosed because their HAES warrior moms shout down anyone who tries to bring it up.

They are all classified as "Severely Obese Sturdy",
With these BMIs none of these kids are obese let alone severely obese. The first is in the “normal” BMI range, while the other two are “overweight “ BMIs.

ETA:
Childhood obesity is classed differently to adult obesity.
I didn’t know that. I stand corrected. Thanks for the info.

This just looks like the average British person.
Reminds me of this old story:

Jessica Leonard was, at one point, over 400 pounds and at seven years old was the "World's Fattest Child". She couldn't walk and had to literally scootch across the floor.

She lost over 300 pounds and has managed to keep it off from what I've been able to find.

Childhood obesity is classed differently to adult obesity. These children are FIVE YEARS OLD and they are all indeed severely obese. As I stated in my post, the slimmest five-year-old is in the 99.8th percentile for BMI and the other two are in the 99.99th percentile.

If you are unable to wrap your mind around that, I invite you to input the age, height, and weight data into a child/teen BMI calculator yourself. Failing that, simply imagine a 95 lb Kindergartener, or take a look at the multiple pictures of a 95+ lb Kindergartener that I provided in my post and tell me that she's merely "overweight."

I missed the final day of the PSPH cruise (big feels ❤️,) but hopefully more lulz will be included in their upcoming long-form vlog. The gorls, however, ARE back at Disney, which means MORE MILK and MORE CONTENT to keep us PSPSH fans fed!

Ashley is also back in her trusty scooter. (The more I watch her, the more I really like Ashley, and the sadder this all makes me for her).

The snacking commenced almost immediately with a hearty breakfast. Steph started off nice and healthy with some tater tots drizzled in nonsense, Sarah got a sausage, egg and cheese sandwich, as did Deanna, while the random skinny girl with them admit she is "snacking off other people's." lol.

Steph and Ashley, meanwhile, feel the burning desire to get the bacon AGAIN, and the skinny girl asks them to share this time (lol). The candied bacon is "SO good," in fact, it causes Katie to burst into song about it. She gets a tasty sugary coffee-looking drink to wash it down with, of course.

Meanwhile, Ashley and their skinny friend indulged in some candied bacon of her own and a Coca Cola Icee. When in Rome, I guess.

After a couple dark rides, it's time for dinner (I assume they started late morning and had an early dinner)! Deanna shows off some giant-looking baguettes, which she calls her "dream date." Sadly, we don't get to see the rest of the mukbang.

The gorls do briefly review their meal at the Be Our Guest restaurant. Ashley misses the way it used to be, i.e. a quick service lunch and "regular dinner." It's amazing she cares enough to even remember this detail, but there you go. Steph laments how expensive the prix fix menu is, calling it "a bit much." Ashley reveals it was $72 each (lol), and Steph admits for "the middle of a hot day, it was a lot of food for a three course meal." This, however, does not deter the gorls from going on more rides!

An hour or so later, it's time for dessert, aka Dole Whip!

The gorls also graciously stopped and took photos with some skinny fans.

More soon!

but we all know that BMI is a useless metric and does not reflect the family tree!
Once attended a lecture by a bariatric surgeon. Someone brought up genetics and he just sighed and said ”yeah, I sometimes see entire families with BMIs in the 40s, and they claim it’s all genetic. That’s usually when I bring up that their dachshund weighs 43 lbs.”

Of course the plates are nothing but fried foods. God forbid these people eat somewhere that serves vegetables.
Dole Whip is a FRUIT I'll have you know! It's made with totally real and not fake at all pineapple!

But of course they'd eat vegetables. So long as they were battered and deep fried.

Potatoes are vegetables, so is the onion in onion rings. 😝
And yeah. I could hear them saying that to counter the lack of actual vegetables on the plate.
