It's just another example of good ideas said by their betters being interpreted incorrectly by the fat movement (and most modern movements.) It was about feeling free to speak up and be in places you weren't normally welcome due to the culture. It doesn't apply to taking up 3 airplane seats.

This actually isn't new to Disney. Think about it. The boss babe girlboss stronk gurl thing has existed since the fucking 90s, Aurora, Mulan, Jasmine, all of those princesses had a strong personality but they also had flaws. This was also during some of the strongest waves of feminism. But because Disney is all about exploration, adventure, etc, feminist messages meshed really fucking well. So any board directors that haven't retired aren't looking at what lead up to the trends, they just see "oh, making strong female characters the lead gains traction, what if we did x?" Which lead to the quirky princess problem, where now all the princesses have almost a mash of all the personalities, but the flaws are quirks instead of something to overcome. Mulan was incredibly naive which lead her into dangerous situations, but for rapunzel it lead to her gaining friends in a fucking gang and benefited her. Jasmine was incredibly hard headed and abrasive, and again, that was written as a plus in rupunzel, and now every new disney princess has a copy paste of rapunzel specifically.
So they saw following the feminist treand worked, so why not try other social justice avenues? Well they're only looking at what trends WORKED, not HOW they worked.

A lot of the people posted in this thread are annoying/stupid/preachy, but Marissa seems like a genuinely manipulative and hateful person. Her videos are an endless narcissistic stream of complaints about other people not bending over for her and abuse directed at anyone who doesn’t kiss her ass and tell her she’s right about everything. Nothing that person said comes across as being an “asshole” AT ALL.
Being fat is the least of any of our gorls's problems. Every last one of them could wake up at their optimal body weight tomorrow, and they'd still be deeply horrible people. Some of them, I suspect, would be even worse people than they are now, and Marissa's one of them.

These videos are probably the most informative thing I've seen her make, but this one is so interesting. She wants an entire platform to cater to her individual needs for a safe space.
I think the most most mentally well people do have a "safe space" where they can be accepted as they are so they can grow into better people. The trouble is, we're weak and flawed and need to get better, and you can't simply have the mask down and stop working on yourself for extended periods of time.
So maybe you find that with your partner, family, or a small group of friends. But it isn't something that can really happen publicly. The larger world cannot be made safe for her. It's an unreasonable request.

For myself, my home is my safe space where I can say and do what I want with the people I want. Most people in America at least have the privilege of their own room or bed, and never give thought to how great this is. She isn't counting the enormous privileges she has, and only discussed what it means in the most abstract of terms.
What privilege actually looks like is having your own space, your own close relationships with whom you can share who you really are, and having enough nutritious food to eat.
