This summer I found myself stuck in a tent without internet, while everyone else in the tent was checking the web.
Bored, i decided to use my phone anyway, and that's when I discovered that the notes app would let me draw. Not only that, but it had an interesting marker-like pen available.
And I think we know a certain character that's drawn mostly in markers...
Anyway, here are my abominations.

That's a standard look they give these Sonic characters were their eyes are so close together they'd might as well be drawn like a double yolker egg. It's been done in cartoons for along time now, often to show a character being surprised/shock, though it also has shown up regularly for those like the LT's Taz.
