The modding community won't pick up steam till at least after the fall/winter sales though, when the game can be had for like $40. I mean I got it for around that, but I'm a bit more risk tolerant when it comes to other game stores, and some people don't like that.

But I just find it insane to pay for any game (barring niche titles that never go on sale, looking at you Combat Mission) for $60 to begin with.
 
I'm going to the bar for lunch to get super drunk because I have to restart the game due to a gamebreaking bug. I'll put it below the spoiler so y'all don't make the same mistake I did.

I took Nick as my companion in the Reunions Mission from the main storyline. He mysteriously vanished when I made it to the lower levels of Ft. Hagen. I killed the dude and exited the fort to find Nick wandering around and asked me where my kid is, but conversation would not go past that. I waited for him to return to his office and when I walked in the conversation automatically continued. Ever since then I have not been able to draw a weapon or enter vats. From what I can tell from my research of people experiencing bugs, it seems like you're stuck in conversation mode. I'm going to look into it some more but I would recommend not taking Nick on that mission

Just spent all day playing it.
I have to say it's pretty fun, although I'm still trying to find ways to grind because I die pretty quickly if I stray very far. I'm having a hellish time trying to scrounge up stimpacks, just so I can survive long enough to find more stimpacks. (not that stimpacks are very effective compared to munching down on food)

Gripes:
-Does anyone else just hate Piper with a burning rage? She's annoying as shit and talks with her arms like she's in Food Fight.
-I redecorated my Pre-war house, but one of Tom Preston's hobos moved in because there's a free bed in there.
-Tom Preston got stuck on the roof of a house, good thing the staircase building just works™.
-I'm having a deep inner conflict over which clothes look cool and which ones keep me safe. My guy's got a badass coat-ushanka combo right now, but it's not doing him any favors.
-I'm just waiting to get a settlement area all to myself so I can have an uber cool fort. I want to build a base, but I don't want to deal with other people's needs.
-Merchants Todd-Howarding me out of my money.

I think as long as there's no spare beds at your fort, no one will move into it.

Just move the bed to where you them to sleep and make a new bed for yourself in the same place.
Are you looking for a place in particular? Because anywhere with a workbench can be built upon including the gas station where you get Dog Meat.

I'm also kind of disappointed all the good looking outfits so far are the ones that can't be armored up.

But I'm enjoying the game and like coming back to my settlement to find new people. I got a ghoul sleeping in my laundry room right next to the generator.

Makes sense, the second I completed a single DLC in a bethsoft game, I had more money than I knew what to do with. Looks like they finally balanced the prices.

BTW: does anyone know whether you have to stick with a faction if you pick one? Like can I be a member of the BoS and Minutemen at the same time?

For what its worth, I recall in Fallout New Vegas getting into fist fights (or rather Ballistic Fist vs. Claws fights) with Deathclaws. Only difference is by that time I was wearing ranger armor and near the level cap.

Anyway, my copy of Fallout 4 finally arrived in the mail today (it was delayed due to weather). Planning on tomorrow doing nothing but eating a good breakfast and playing Fallout 4 until the sun sets.

Know what the worst part is? The radio station my dad used to work at years ago before getting a real job put some kid that sounded exactly like that twat on recently, dead air and everything. Apparently he's the owners son or something.

Even in the realm of fantasy I can't escape shitty radio hosts. Help me.

I haven't even made Diamond City yet and I managed to join both. So you can be a member of both at once. However, being Bethesda, I wouldn't be at all surprised to find out you have to choose eventually.
 
Is Fo4 a perfect game? No. Is it better than the Witcher 3? Maybe, if you prefer gameplay over story. But, I still believe that a 10/10 score isn't completely unjustified (Even though I would prefer to go a bit lower), as the good shit this game pulls off is insane. Even the almighty W3 isn't perfect, but that doesn't stop me giving it a 10/10 in a heartbeat. Remember, a 10/10 is not perfect, it just does so much right that you are willing to forget it's flaws.

However, if Obsidian ever gets their hands on the fallout license once more, we are surely going to see greatness unfold. Because the mediocre writing and story of Bethesda needs to stop.
 
There's a mission where you can make Travis (the radio guy) stop sucking so much. I would recommend doing that and it will greatly improve your radio experience. I think to activate it you have to go to the dugout and meet the owners and then visit Travis at the radio station.

So I got the quest to join the brotherhood, if I do join them what faction am I locking myself out of? Because if it's just the Institute then yeah fuck it i'll join them, but if it's someone else I'd like to keep my options open.
