Oh! I got a gift for Chris right here in my pocket

middlefinger.gif

Who knows, he might have a Mr.Gold squirreled away in his Lego hoard. I also hear the Pajama Emmet mini fig he stole from Best Buy can catch them a handsome sum.

Like Chris would ever give up his precious Legos. They're like his own personal brightly-colored sharp plastic mini-hoard. Bansai Barbage, if you will.

Thanks, I didn't realize that.

There could still be a downside for Barb in that if Chris maxes out and ruins his credit for legos, that is money he can't borrow later and put into the pooled resources.

I think it's pretty safe to say that for Chris there will be no borrowing in the future. If there was a chance anyone was going to give Chris another line of credit, he wouldn't be begging for Legos on Facebook.

Oh, is that the case? That they can take the tugboat? Because then, yeah, she might care. Not sure what's going on with that situation.
I know for a fact that some credit companies can get a hold of the tugboat. It would depend on how much he owes, how much he paid monthly before he stopped, how much he's be late on, and how much he continues to take out. They'd have to go to court and get a court order to do it, but it's possible and it has happened. The only thing creditors can't touch are funds and benefits for being a veteran or current military. I think there's one more, but I can't think of the name, but it's not Chris's tugboat so it's fine that I can't remember. So, yes, if the credit card company noticed that Chris stopped paying them back, they could go after him and claim a percentage of the tugboat go to them every month. They couldn't directly take it, but what would likely happen is, with the court order, they would set up a plan with the Chandler's or their bank directly where they would send whatever money the court decided every month as soon as the tugboat was in the Chandler's account. If that didn't happen, even once, the Chandler's would likely go to jail for 30 days or longer, depends on the court order or state statute.

Chris STILL has like $4,000 in debt from even before Bob died. And before the fire, with his free reign of his own money, I'm sure he somehow managed to make that hole even deeper. Even people with current outlandish debts can and do get credit cards. As of now, Chris is still barely managing to pay the minimums every month. This, of course, only covers the current interest so he'll never be done paying it off. Whatever we think, Chris isn't a completely retard, he knows better than to apply for a new credit card to buy a couple grand worth of legos, especially if the only place he has to put them in a temporary living space with Barb. I am surprised however that he's asking stuff to be sent to 14BLC, is he really going to go there every other day and check the mail? Or maybe 14BLC has mail forwarded to his current address and he's trying his best not to leak that out?

You'd think credit card companies would love him though. Can he not even make the minimum payment per month anymore?

I never said he would give them up willingly. I'm just saying debt collectors may pry the brightly colored blocks out of his cold, dead hands.

Also heard there's a lot of mugging in those places or something. Don't know how Chris is going to survive that.

My usual advice would be to save up to buy a $100 pistol and hope for the best, but that would go about as well for Chris as trying to get a job doing heavy manual labor. He's probably pretty low risk for mugging though because as long as he doesn't flaunt his DS or Iphones he just looks like a disgusting tranny hobo with nothing worth taking. His big risk would be getting robbed while he's not home when people find out he has expensive electronics IMO.

I know what gift I would like to give Chris, a brand new revised copy of his resume, and maybe a job to go with it. Is that horrible to say? Does that make me a Troll? I'm sorry if this is rude, and are trollish and horrible, I never meant for it to come across like that.
That would honestly be an amazing gift to give to Chris. The problem is that he's a selfish prick who's thinks he's above working. He'd call you a troll for ruining his perfect resume and he would still be the same, stagnant lump of fat.

First of all silentprincess, that is not at all trollish. It would be a very benevolent thing to do. But it also conjures up the old saying about putting pearls on swine or whatever.

Chris intentionally sets himself up to fail because he knows (read: he thinks) that is the quickest way for attention, asspats, and gifts. You could get into a nice suit and tie ensemble. You can feed him a nice breakfast and give him a beautiful cover letter and resume. You could drive him up to a business storefront and have the manager waiting for him at the door. All Chris would have to do is walk twenty feet from the car to the storefront, say "Hi, I'm Christian Chandler, I'm applying for the job opening," and hand the manager the resume. And he would STILL fuck it up. He would either stall in the car and say something stupid about not feeling right about something, or not liking the color of the resume paper. If he did actually speak to the manager, he'd probably make some offhanded remark about what a shitty sotre it is or how he could do the manager's job better because of his CADD certificate.

The sad thing is this - people may say Chris can't get a job because of his autism. That's bullshit. People with Down Syndrome can hold down jobs. People may also say he can't get a job because of his online reputation. Again, bullshit. Registered sex offenders can still make a living. The only thing preventing Chris from getting a job is Chris.

So the money that he otherwise would be spending at Food Lion, would go to toys.

Agreed. If Chris has any money above what he needs to survive he spends it on toys and vidya. Therefore, if he is not homeless or starving, and you give him anything, it will translate in to more toys. If you give him food/food gift cards, he will be able to save money for toys. If you give him something else, he is likely to sell it for toys.

Although I gave to the CWC-drive last time round, I was very conscious of this and pointed it out. I think I resent it less than a lot of people here do. I do not expect that people on the dole just buy food and shelter. If I found out that the guy next to me at the bar, ball game, or movie theatre was unemployed and receiving benefits I wouldn't be outraged by the "frivolous" expense. If Chris has a bit of money left over, like most of us he will spend it on whatever makes him happy. It just happens that childish things make him happy.

His debt is a slightly different matter, but to me, that is between him and his creditors. If he ends up a little screwed by it later that is on him. If he ends up defaulting on some of it, that is part of the cost of doing business for the credit card companies. Anyone who extends credit to Chris is extending a high-interest, high-risk loan.

I have no intention of giving anything to him this time around, but I am not particularly outraged that he asked. I basically have a "there is no harm in asking" philosophy. He hasn't cost me anything by asking. In fact it has given me some new content to mull over. He probably won't get much, but if he does, it will be a win for him, and a choice for whoever gives it to him. To his credit, he didn't make up some bullshit reason about why he should get stuff. It is a win-win, or at least a not lose-not lose.

Sorry for being a fairly big white knight. I hope at least that my reasoning is clear.

Chris simply doesn't have the drive to put effort into anything. He gets free $$$ to sit on his ass, and in that regard the tugboat is the best and worst thing in his life.

So, who had March 15 in the pool for discovering through Chris' own actions once and for all if the pre-care package debate amongst forum members on whether to give or not would be decided in favor of all those against? You can come on down and collect your prize.

(I cheated and peeked in the box, it's some Lego figure that's all gold, so enjoy your plastic shit because there's people out there suffering without right now!)

See, for me it's that he's not desperate for legos. It's not like he's depressed and he desperately craving something to keep himself from just killing himself. He has all the legos he needs. It's just that he saw an opportunity to game people, and he took it. And that makes him a shitty person.

Heh, and I would say that there, almost factually, is a harm in asking sometimes. Like, there wouldn't be if you didn't, at all, care about your place in the world and how you relate to other people. There's a harm in asking if you're being a dick to people, because that reflects on you. People usually don't want to look like giant shitheels. Usually.

Is it possible, in your opinion, that Barb put him up to this? Not the Lego thing specifically, but a general "go ask the internet people for more free shit" command (which he then expanded on by tacking on his request for Legos)?

You know, I might do the same thing in his name
I thought about that, but then I thought, "How do I explain the whole Chris situation to them?" And then I thought, "Chris doesn't deserve legos, and he doesn't deserve credit. Fuck him." The important thing is kids who really need the toys get them, and Chris doesn't get anything.
That said... I wonder if Chris wants these gifts badly enough.

$10 Gift Card = video

$25 Gift Card = New Sonichu comic, 10 page minimum

Lego set = video, not less than five minutes, of Chris talking about his hooker, his mom, Rob Bell, Snyder, or any other matter of significance
This. Especially if matching donations are made to local people who actually need the help. Chris should be put on a lego points system like Jace's privilege points, except Jace is actually willing to earn his points. Chris would just sulk, blame the trolls, shit himself, and do nothing. Chris doesn't earn. Chris "deserves".
People talking about how this inspires them to buy toys for kids and whatnot. I'd donate toys and money to the same cause were I not a non-working college student (maybe if some of the stores would ACTUALLY CONSIDER ME) off for summer whose money earned over the course of the year is going $50/month to sponsoring an African girl and were I not going to an event tomorrow to fundraise for beating cancer and making my own over-generous donation. Meh, oh well.
You do what you can with what you have for people who have less. The actual amount isn't important, as other people have explained better than I can:
Mark Ch12 Vs41-45:
And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.
And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.
And He called unto Him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:
For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.
Oh, and that Christian Weston Chandler guy? Fuck him.
But instead, fine, OK Chris, we'll buy you some legos, but it ain't free. (like nothing in life is free, which fatty needs to learn)
TANSTAAFL. There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lego.

You know what I'm considering giving to Chris? I'm contemplating waiting until he's homeless and hungry and on the street and desperately in need of food and medical care and other actual essentials. Then I'll send him cheap lego sets he can't eat and can't use and doesn't need.

So if you ever find yourself worrying about being "horrible" or "rude" here, don't, because you're in the company of complete bastards.

Also it's kind of refreshing to see you're finally growing some claws.
At this juncture, I think the best thing we can hope for is that Chris's surviving Lego collection somehow gets lost/destroyed.
It will. Eventually he will lose everything that can't fit in a shopping cart. It is basically promised.

I personally prefer the idea of him involuntarily donating it to a children's hospital or a battered women's shelter (because they have kids who need toys too). Chris still has some very nice things that other people could make better use of.
I never ever want to fall into that pit again.
An excellent plan. Interest is a killer.

Chris makes minimum payments on his credit cards. He is voluntarily paying more in interest every month than a lot of people on this website earn in total. Everyone should think on that for a moment before considering sending him anything.
Can creditors garnish your social security income? I know they can garnish your other income, wages and earnings and stuff. But I don't know about SSDI. If they can, Chris and Barb are fucked.
Nope. They can't touch SSDI. At least not directly. Pretty much the only things that can touch SSDI are court judgements and child support liens and other court ordered things. I can't see Chris ever needing to pay child support, thank goodness. It's possible that Chris might be forced to pay a set portion of his :tugboat: every month as part of a bankruptcy settlement, but I can't see that being much more than the minimum credit card payments he's already making.

But don't worry, the Bankruptcy Saga is coming. While it won't lose Chris his :tugboat:, it ain't gonna be pleasant for him. He's financing his lifestyle (such as it is) with credit cards, and there will come a day when that will end. And I have no faith he'll be able to hold onto his :tugboat: forever, either.
That's true, sorry if this upset anyone, I really didn't mean it to.
Don't worry about it. We all know that even if Chris actually accepted a job, there's no way in hell he would bother to try to keep it. Then the job will go to someone who actually deserves it. And they'll always look good to their boss in comparison to Chris.
