Oh, the rats did not actually beat MAP01. And here I was ready to call them better than games journalists already.

Rats controlling drones in future wars. Calling it now.
Different ways to see this. One is I wouldn't doubt this is another way to work to find a way to dehumanize people even further than they already are. Imagine some dystopian scifi scenario and the air drones are monitoring and looking for the last remnants of Whites and Asians and all that, and you see someone get blown up and the pilot via telemetry was nothing more than an animal.

Another way to see this is outsourcing.
When do we finally tell pajeets that the rat can do what they can do, for half-half the price for double the work hours?

There is nothing about the scenario you bring up that isn't disheartening.

If only they lived longer, only then can they train themselves to complete the game. As well as enjoying a long life to being loved. Rats are quite limited by their lifespan.

They're quite cool as pets (trainable and quite intelligent) but you get such a short time with them

I don't think it'll ever be possible, rats are smart but do they have the ability to conceptualise the game? Or is it just seeing colours and getting smells not able to put them together with the input into something coherent? Even with the air puffs, I doubt it'll learn that its hitting the wall in the game, rather just what inputs to avoid getting air puffed (which will actually put it at a disadvantage because one of the easier maze solving strategies is sticking to a wall). Maybe a 3d version might help but who knows
