Smh.
I believe you're being too harsh.
Alright, he may have just recolored Druel's Osana texture. At least he tried to make an artwork version.
I bet if you even tried to make a retexture and sent it to Dev, he wouldn't add it.
Gosh. Poor Candle. Being bullied for a texture that wouldn't even be in game if the ShitLord didn't add it.

Who are you? But the texture is still shit since it looks like it took 2 minutes to make since it was made by an amateur and we're not gonna asspat him.

I got some advice for Candle.

If the Internet makes fun of you for something and you can't handle it.
You click that little red X and it all goes away. Like Magic!

Might work for you too, you never know!

Hello, new farmer here (well relatively new -- this is the first time I've made an account and posted) and I've been reading this thread from the absolute beginning and have gotten to page 128, I plan on reading all of it up to this point but I took a detour for a bit to express something that's been bugging me.

Not sure if it's off-topic, most likely is and for that you can ignore me, but the two in-development games being worked on currently that are "supposed" to be better than yansim -- aren't.
One of them has a 2D artist (shouldn't there be different departments within that category? Character design? Lead artist? Art director??) that doesn't have much ability to draw. Their art looks a level shy of Mulberry-esque art (and Mulberry isn't even really a good artist in general) and it just makes the game come off as so amateur. And it seems they aren't looking for anymore...2D artists (which again, there are different departments within the 2D art category -- you can't just have ONE person draw absolutely everything jfc) and are completely content with staying with the artist that has the drawing ability of a 15 year old deviantARTer.
The second game in development has a slightly better artist but...their art SCREAMS SJW art style. From the proportions they give the characters, the odd coloring for Japanese (yes they're still supposed to be Japanese?! Have you seen many dark skinned Japanese schoolgirls?!) school girls and just generally being like an anti-yansim but in the absolute worst way.

I was excited to see some people stepping up to make one of my (albeit this may sound cringey) favorite anime tropes (I always found yanderes interesting just by how well they could be executed) into an interesting game that I once previously saw in YanSim way back when it was in very early development.
But I'm...disappointed.

You can say that he's using volunteers to his own advantage all you want -- but he's been at this for so long that he actually has a decent staff of artists and leadership ability (to some degree) that these other games neglect to have because they're only doing this as a way to spite him rather than to ACTUALLY make a good game. They've lost their way and it disappoints me how in comparison -- yansim will STILL be better.

tl;dr I'm disappointed with two yansim replacements that aren't anywhere near the level of quality (yes even with fucking stolen assets yansim is still marginally better) that shekelman fetishson has reached. You either have to play a game with terribly amateurish art or you play an SJW racist-wash version -- these are the only two alternatives at this point.

May I ask which one is which? I think I know the answer but just to make sure.
I happen to be involved with one alternative because I hope to steer the team into a good direction. (mainly to spite Alex)

Also, welcome to the farms, fren

I'm with you on the current alternatives not really being what I'm looking for. Those two projects aren't the only ones that tried to do something different with the trope, though. That "Yandere School" game was kind of generic, but at least finished. And I thought the yandere VN that CinnamonToastKen played was actually pretty good.

Okay, the texture is bad
Alex is lazy
Hentai games are better made and more expensive (Citation Needed) than his still in development mess
Joining a forum complaining about your feels getting hurt from people saying its bad (also powerleveling) isn't gonna make us stop, it's gonna keep it going (like how this thread has been for said poorly made """Game""")

That new Osana texture literally makes her look fucking part Albino. Yet Alex goes "wow Very gud, must put in Gaem."

Welcome aboard.

Ah, thank you very much! I wasn't expecting a warm welcome if I'm quite honest. Posting a reply that could come off as rude or generally snobby nose-in-the-air-esque made me quite nervous.

Sure. But before I list them I really do not wish them the worst, nor do I feel they should stop with the progress they've already made -- that would be callous and rather petty. I admire what they are doing (as I'm a simple artist who doesn't know how to code, use 3D or even model) and do not wish them to stop -- but to improve.

The one with the amateurish "2D art" (I really dislike just roping all areas into one, forgive me) is a game called Love Me. Generally I was really excited after seeing the modeling videos as well as the preview animation for it (It wasn't the best but it was really good!!) but it pained me as I looked through the artist's gallery to find they weren't actually as good as yandev's (which is to say that the hentai artist at least has some general understanding of SOME KIND of anatomy even if it's hentai anatomy). And putting one person in charge of all those fields is really not a good idea. I'd suggest separating the "2D artists" into sections. Character designer, storyboard artist (for cutscenes and such), environmental concept artist, and box art illustration (basically advertizing illustrations fully rendered and such). There may also be many categories to 3D art but I'm not well versed in that industry so I can't recommend anything in particular. I do actually like the model, however I wish they had a more competent artist to do the character art -- especially for character design planning. What I can say that Yandev did somewhat right (barely) is his character design. The art is bad, but the designs read like anime characters AND they also have some semblance of each of their personalities in them without going overboard like with the next game I was talking about.

Limerence is the game with the generally SJW themed art style and atmosphere. If you take a look at the rivals(?) they don't seem to fit in an anime setting -- or even just Japan in general. They're just pandering to SJWs who want "muh appropriation" in this game. I've read the asks, Christ they're turning it into some asspatfest.
"Is there gonna be characters that are non-binary?!?!??!?!?""One will teehee!"
Gag me. Which upsets me because the model they're going to use is actually really nice? Albeit kind of janky looking from a professional modeler's prospective but still nice to look at! Plus, the rival+player art doesn't look ANYTHING like the models at all. Which is really weird and kind of makes it feel like the art and game models are two completely different things. (Go check for yourself)

Also thank you again for the welcome! I hope I don't come off as a know-it-all. I just really want a game that throws yansim out of the water and makes him eat his own words. Also, I'd like to work on these projects myself if I am able -- completely voluntarily of course!

Ah, see I'm stuck with a dreaded windows phone of death and so haven't been able to play that game even though I read about it in the past few pages. I really do hope these games exceed expectations! I really want to see someone else show him how a real yandere/stealth game should be.

Sorry to say, Love Me is dead. The devs had trouble working as a team and disbanded. :(

!! Really? Oh dear that's terrible! It is also quite strange seeing as their latest post was yesterday. I believe they lost quite a few members but have been slowly building another? I could be wrong. Ahhh and that was the one I was having the most hope for. Color me disappointed.

My friend made that it was a osana texture he sent it to dev asking what he thought about dev liked it amd popped it into the game but then he forgot to take it out my friend is getting upset because so many people are saying his texture is shit so like, tone it down please.

The textures NOT on the model look good. The eye and hair looks great, it just looks bad on osana. i'm sorry though.
