Okay hear me out

We take all the shit from YanDev's game that he can't actually copyright, copy it 1-1, fix it up...

and put it in a different fucking engine than Unity so it doesn't run like dogshit. Like even DosBox would be better. Fuck Unity.
No.

1) Unity is the absolute least of the problems this abomination is straddled with, something as simple as this will absolutely fucking fly on Unity performance wise - you just need basic programming and project management skills and have to not be Alex

2) the concept is actually significantly more difficult to design around than most people realize, you basically have to make Hitman except in a single map and also avoid being repetitive as all hell (which will essentially mean a dynamic map for extra fun times) or do a complete rethink

3) hatefan-games have been tried before to the point there's an entire thread about them, and they all sucked and failed because you're approaching it with the wrong mindset - you're not trying to make a fun and inspired game for the simple sake of making a fun and inspired game (which is where most good games tend to come from), you're only in it to show up someone and for the assorted drama which inevitably taints the project and its members
(edit: it's also worth re-emphasizing that Yandere Simulator was a hategame in the first place, how's that for irony)

My advice to the next person trying to make a YanSim clone: make everything open source so, if you get disillusioned with the project, people can pick up on your work.

Complete rethink is probably the best way to go; I really don't think emulating Hitman is such a good idea for the game, particularly with Alex's vision. In games like Hitman/Metal Gear Solid if you mess up or otherwise break stealth, you have a fallback option of going guns blazing and/or running away; in Yandere Simulator, you might as well just save your time and reload your last save because you're likely about to encounter an NPC you can't kill (that'll end the game), have so many NPCs you'll have to kill that it'll tank the mood (and end the game, or if you leave them alone they'll tank your reputation over time and end the game), or potentially mess up disposing of evidence that also ends the game. So, either a lot more area to play with that has more obscured sight lines, or a fundamental rework of the game like de-emphasizing murder and making it much more of a social simulator instead of Hatred except it's in a Japanese LARPing school.

For example, every game, randomly generate the student body and routines. Pick a rival, but don't tell the player who the rival is. Have the game lay hints and breadcrumbs that the player will have to find to figure out who the rival is and what their plans are, then take steps to neutralize the rival with murder being the last unlockable option available. Heck, you could go the Doki Doki Literature Club route and dress it up nice and cutesy don't explicitly show the murder happening if the player fails to neutralize the rival, and just have the protagonist get progressively more unhinged the more the player fails, only revealing what was really going on near the end of the game.

Then there's the big problem of making what is basically an Excel spreadsheet fun.

Point 3 is the biggest one for me, and IMO the only one you need. It's the main reason all of the clones fail even as the original languishes in development hell, and the fandom is dying for someone else to sell them what they want to buy.

Realistically, if you make a game of this scope, you'll be spending months at a minimum, and more likely years, to make it. And for someone to invest that kind of time and energy into a concept, they have to have passion about it. (Unless they're getting paid, but I digress). All of that labor and emotional energy for an idea that isn't your own is a hard enough sell. For someone to keep working on it, they want to have it bad enough.

And the fact is, people with that kind of talent, drive and passion tend to want to make games based on their own ideas instead.

Yansim as it stands is extremely overcomplicated both in the areas of mechanics and story. Most of Yansim clones' creators opted to make the game in the exact way Alex did - 3D unity project with similar mechanics - without really thinking how they could make life easier for themselves. If you think about it, the concept itself could unironically work really well as an RPG-maker game akin to Corpse Party/IB/Mad Father/Misao, etc. If you want to have an aesthetic instead of pixel art, you can hire artists to make some more modern sprites and backgrounds like Fear & Hunger or The Coffin of Andy and Leyley.

Such a game would be much simpler and quicker to make - no 3D models and animations, no voice acting required, less risk of feature bloat, etc. That, and RPG-maker is a very simple tool that people enjoy making games with and I'm sure a very talented person could recreate a lot of Yansim's mechanics. Besides, teenagers used to flock to those classic RPG-maker games back in the day, so I don't think they would wring their hands over the change of style.

There's also other options: you could make it a linear style game instead of a sandbox, with maybe a little hub area that you go to between missions, so you only have to focus on one set piece at a time instead of a whole big sandbox.

Y'know, like Hitman.

'dyc3' actually did a code review of decompiled code and made some potential suggestions on the code architecture.
Realistically, indeed, there should be a lot of reusability possible for a lot of the student code, since behavior isn't that different.

I've seen this video over on my feed but I could never click on it due to the dude's literal soyjak face on the thumbnail.
If you're going to use your ugly mug to poke fun at YanSim, please at least get a haircut and or professional photoshop work, Christ.

The game could have been interesting if instead of making the school the main area, it was more of a place that the main character could use to keep closer tabs on the bland senpai character in an environment where she would be able to watch him, see who she would consider a "threat to their love", find out who the rival is, and try to figure out the best way to get rid of them. There are so many locations that could have been utilized that might have been cheesy but since Alex seems to want to lean on anime tropes so much that it's stupid he didn't take full advantage of it.

It's always kind of interesting to think of ways YanSim could work. The obvious solution, though, is to simply not be Alex.

Don't be an arrogant chode, like Alex, and take some humility. Don't be a complete dick, like Alex, and you will have a much better relationship with your audience (Aside from the literal children in your playerbase). Actually have some intelligence or at least be willing to learn, unlike Alex, and you can make good progress on whatever you do.

Game design-wise, YanSim is just a worse Hitman with an anime paintjob. If the clones weren't made by retards, they easily could have at least finished the games and take all the glory from Alex. But they all forgot the most important rule: Don't be Alex. In any way, shape, or form.

Well that's outta left field - Did someone finally bug the right ear at twitch about his activities? The trackers I know of don't show him having streamed recently, so unless it was so fast they missed it, I don't think he had a meltdown stream.

So much for his hopes of appealing to twitch about yandere simulator one day.

Are you an incel and a woman has been flirting with you for years? Does she live in Florida but you're well off and your parents gave you a house?

Ask her to move in with you.

Alex's idea was never going to fucking work, because the games he drew inspiration from run counter to one another. You can't have the creative freedom of Hitman because your methods of killing the target are gatekept by stats you need to grind out for. And it can't be like the Persona games because you're never given any time to connect with any of the characters, which in itself is counter-intuitive to the fact that the player's character is a murderous and obsessed freak.

When I kill someone with a waterbucket and electricity in Hitman, I feel rewarded because the game allowed me to do that, and the game rewards that creativity. But if I do that in YanSim, it's seen as a bug that needs to be patched out. YanSim's ultimately a stealth game, and a core part of stealth games is creativity, and that's abscent in his game.

As he hasn't streamed at all since September 19th (before his latest debacle kicked off), my first thought was it was a joke or troll. But when you actually visit his Twitch page...

Given how he literally has not streamed in over a month, it must be because someone at Twitch learned of recent events (probably via mass reporting by Reddit/exTwitter) and decided to enforce that section of the Community Guidelines that says "We'll ban you for shit you do off of our service".

Three guesses what one of those offenses is, and the first two don't count.
Sexual exploitation of youth, such as grooming and/or solicitation/distribution of CSAM

So how long until his chimpout? He whined a lot about Yandere sim being banned, and streaming is what he really likes to do.
Hard to say. He seems to be keenly aware that trying to fight anything vaguely associated to the grooming scandal is a bad idea and is just letting shit happen and trying to move on, avoid drawing further attention to it. He might just have to let this slide and give up on Twitch, move to Rumble.

But hate and shame 2 still hasn’t come out. He can’t die yet he still has too much left to do!
