alex mahan is proof that the star citizen phenomenon is the umbilical cord for corruption within independent games development projects. impart a false sense of 'being a part of the growing community and development of the game' on your dreamy, enamored audience while seizing on the most lucrative of grifts seen since the dawn of the internet. minimal work, maximal profits, zero consequences.

I'm bad at math but he's been working for 7 years, and he's 86% done. Working backwards, he's got 14% left, which is 0.98 of a year. So yansim should be done in 11 and 3/4 months.

So by July 2022 this thread is going to be marked inactive, right?🌈
86% done. Despite the lack of functional mechanics, bugs, glitches, pathfinding problems...

Why the fuck is he so proud that he made replacing the main character's model possible? Isn't that just what character customisation is supposed to do?

Not surprising that Alex would rather pander to (female) Vtubers than work on the actual game. It's also not surprising that he collaborated with some who has 'loli' in their name, uses a pink-haired anime avatar and is a Belle Delphine wannabe irl (If google images and Tikstar are to be believed. She does look very arabic, tho).

I kind of don't understand why he even did this. Is he hoping some more popular Vtubers see this and will want to collab? Is he expecting to gain an audience in Saudi Arabia? Wouldn't YS be considered kind of haram in KSA?

I know there's filters but that girl doesn't look a day over 15.
Here's some more pics from her instagram. Idk, she's looks to be in her late twenties to me. Look at the difference between the first and last pic - the filters are really doing their job, eh? The awful wigs are really not helping either. Here I thought muslim countries were supposed to be based and against this anime whore shit.

Preview of Upcoming Content 7 (archive)

At the end of Yandere Simulator’s intro cutscene, a series of visuals flash onscreen – images of the rivals and of important plot elements, such as the legendary cherry tree behind the school. In the next build, the images of the rivals will be getting a big visual upgrade; fancy renders were created for each of them within Blender, and I think they all look fantastic!

In-game, these images will appear kinda small onscreen, but the volunteers who created these renders did an amazing job, and their work deserves to be seen at a high resolution, so I’m sharing their work on my Patreon.

Tbh it wouldn't surprise me considering how much of a weirdo Alex is but also that if I'm not wrong this student is the one you're supposed to matchmake with osana tbh can't blame the dude for going to the principal he has more cash and is more honest than the tsundere Miku wanna be osana

New Concept Art (archive)

Every now and then, as I work on the game, a little surprise happens – a volunteer will contact me and let me know that they were struck with inspiration, and created something for the game purely of their own accord. Sometimes, their creation is concept art for something they’d like to see added to the game in the future.

In this particular case, my lead artist Mulberry felt inspired to design new performance outfits for the Light Music Club – the outfits that they would wear if I ever added 3D visuals to the rhythm minigame. I can’t actually offer any promise that these outfits will get modeled, or that the 3D visuals will become a reality, but I still really appreciated the fact that she felt like designing new outfits for them, so I uploaded the designs to my Patreon.

In the Upcoming Content #7 post:
"I have to earn a living *some*how. Would you prefer if I start charging you to play the game?"

In the comments of the July 15th bug fix post, Alex answered a fan's questions about the ages of the students. Of course he says they're totally 18, but says that Budo and Ayano entered Akademi when they were 16 and 17 respectively, completely forgetting the updated "lore" that you have to be 18 to enroll in the LARP camp school in the first place.

In the July 2nd bug fix post, he says he wants the game to be speedrun friendly despite going out of his way to counter the speedrun strats people were already doing.
Screenshot_3.png
He seems to be settling on Akademi being a "post-high school academy."
Screenshot_4.png
Why doesn't Raibaru console Osana if you sabotaged her relationship with Senpai? Alex's response essentially amounts to "meh, I don't know."

On Discord, Alex was interested in "schooling" somebody when they think that the game died. (A)

I don't know when he did this but Alex updated the look of his Patreon. On the tiers to choose from, there are now pictures of Yandere-chan.
patreon.png

But what strikes me the most are the tier descriptions. He definitely changed them. In the original $1 tier description, he called on people to choose the $3 tier instead because Patreon takes a cut of the earnings along with some math explaining why $1 donations were practically useless. He also claimed that he would like to remove the $1 tier but he can't because Patreon wouldn't allow it. It doesn't surprise that he got rid of all that. It just made him look more money hungry. I don't know if there's a screenshot or an archive of the page from before but that's what I remember.

I believe you remember correct, as that sounds right to me.

Alex may have hit peak Patreon recovery as the numbers of both patrons and earnings are no longer increasing.

This month marks the first time since around November 2011 that the earnings have significantly increased without any singularly large patron suddenly appearing and temporarily disrupting the downward trend. That's just about $200 added, let's see how long it lasts.

I'm only three questions in and this shit is just gold.
What inspired you to become a game developer?:
I love the emphasis on FIVE YEARS. According to wikipedia it was four years and this guy was doing it in his free time and wasn't getting paid a wage by his fans to finish it.

How did you learn to develop video games?:
Notice he definitely didn't get a degree in game dev which means he probably took a single game dev course as an elective and learned fuck all from it.
It takes an incredible ego to believe you've learned everything about game dev from three years of low level grunt work. I don't have to convince anyone here that he clearly knows next to nothing. He's either lying about quitting his job to become an independent game dev or he's the dumbest man alive. Generally that's something you would do after becoming successful doing it in your off time and being in a position to be able to support yourself with it. If he's telling the truth here, he basically quit his grunt-level job, went home and said: "Welp, what should I make???"

What inspired you to create a story where the protagonist is a yandere?:
Game dev genius with 3 years industry experience doesn't understand the concept of placeholder assets and thinks you need to have all of the assets in place at the prototype phase.
Throws his friend under the bus for trying to help when asked.

Is there something in the game that you don't like and want to remove?:
I thought he liked that the game was an amusement park or wtf ever? Love how he's just like "oh well, too late to fix it now, game is shit forever".

Will we be able to play Yandere Simulator on mobile phones?:
Stupid question but I love how he has to be an asshole about it and patronize to the asker instead of just saying "I don't have any plans to port it to mobile phones".
Also yan dev's button/control layout is garbage and unintuitive and could easily be refined/condensed.

How did you decide the personalities of each rival?:
Boring.

Do you have a favourite character in the game?:
"I have a lot of retarded lore that will convolute the story and eliminate any emotional weight or legitimate intrigue still lingering in the game."

Do you have a favourite rival in the game?:
Already answered in prior question.

Are there any other projects you have planned for the future?:
He obviously just enjoys the process of prototyping because he gets off on the instant gratification of making something work in the most basic way without actually refining it or doing any of the tedious work required to make a game enjoyable. Which is why yan dev is a cess pool of prototyped features stacked on top of each other with little rhyme or reason and nothing is complete or satisfying. His writing is the same. He comes up with some stupid concept that he thinks is cool, chucks in in without worrying it if makes sense or has any cohesion with the rest of the story and moves on.

What was the most difficult thing to program?:
Game dev genius with 3 years industry experience doesn't understand the concept of making a base object and allowing the details to be filled in dynamically so you don't have to re-implement repetitive features from the ground up every time.

Why doesn't Info-chan have to attend classes?:
I didn't think of that when I added her to the game so to compensate I included a few lines deep within the game and much later on to flaccidly hand-wave this discrepancy because I have no clue how to naturally weave crucial information into the flow of a story.

Will it be possible for the students to fall in love with Ayano?:
Any time he discusses something suggested by someone else he's sure to over-emphasize how it's OKAY but it's not GREAT. I love how he explains the idea and it makes perfect sense and he still is just like "well it's just not part of my VISION and I understand all so mmmmmm..."

Will "Ayano Aishi" and "Taro Yamada" be the final names of the protagonists?:
The return of FIVE YEARS. It's been longer than that for you, pal.

Can you explain the "How to Hentai Without Hentaing" book?:
God his v-tuber model is putrid.
Throwing a volunteer under the bus as usual. Everything bad is very conveniently someone else's fault. He has to use to most harsh language possible instead of just saying "lol it was an easter egg put in by on of the volunteers, it's not canon, just a joke".

What profession would Ayano have after she graduates from Akademi?:
Retarded lore.

Why did Raibaru reject Budo?:
Retarded lore. I'm tHe OnLy OnE wHo KnOwSsSs!!!

What kind of relationship does Ayano have with her father? Is Ryoba jealous of her own daughter?:
Even though Ayano doesn't feel emotions, she does when it's in relation to male characters I self-insert as in extremely deluded personal fantasies.

Is Ayano's condition due to genetics?:
Once again acting like his retarded lore is the most clever and interesting thing possible that everyone wants to know but he's the OnLy OnE wHo KnOwSsSs!!!

Does the Aishi Condition only affect the female members of the Aishi bloodline?:
More retarded lore.

Would you like Yandere Simulator to have an anime adaptation?:
Insane delusions of grandeur. "I wouldn't put any effort into it but if my sycophant legion of fans payed out the ass and worked their fingers to the bone on it, I'd certainly take credit!"

What do you think about the Ayano x Budo fandom?:
Sorry, I've eliminated to possibility of there being any emotional weight or intrigue by over-justifying every relevant plot point with RETARDED LORE.

Would you ever consider acknowledging the Budo x Ayano fandom inside of Yandere Simulator?:
I'm guessing Victorialand5 is one of the three members of this supposed Budo x Ayano fandom. Hope this is everything she ever wanted out of life. Also LOL "I won't do anything about it but if one of my gracious volunteers does it, I'll certainly take credit!"

There are a lot of fans of your game in Latin America! What do you think about that?:
Latin Americans are used to low quality and bootleg media so seems like a reasonable match to me.

Have you seen my Detras del Juego series?:
Now that you've sucked my cock so hard, maybe I'll give it a watch.

Do you want to say some words to your hispanic followers?:
Directly insulting one of his very few legitimate fans.
