Pretty sure that's a yes. I assume Alex just repeatedly kicks Unity until it appears to be doing what he wants in the most convoluted fashion while causing mayhem with everything else that's already been done so he has to spend the next dozen patches trying to fix the various side effects.

Have a sample from the Reddit/Email/Git hack.

no modules, no dynamic data, no pointers, no object classes, no switch statements, no for or while loops, no function calls... this is an outstanding example of how not to code

Even if we assume the if/else cases are just artifacts from a decompiler taking apart switch cases, like someone mentioned way back upthread, the code is still absolutely hopeless.

You learn not to do this in the first 3 weeks of Programming 101.

We definitely have our answer about error logs and debugging, though. Nonexistent. Nothing, not even a text log or flags or anything. Because there's no function calls you can't even make an educated guess about what caused a bug. Dude literally just dumps code into main() and hopes for the best.

I know that there's a version of the code that's been decompiled from the game and shared around, but I'm pretty sure the one I have (and posted) is the version from Alex's git repo that was downloaded during the hack. It's what the code was like a month or two prior to Osana's initial release.

June 18 bug fixing build (archive)
(If you’re here to check for development updates and not read bug-fixing changelogs, I recommend reading a recent post called “The Big June Update,” because it describes the most recent additions to the game!)

I’ve prepared a new build that fixes some bugs that have been getting reported lately!

To read a list of everything that was changed or fixed in the latest build, please scroll down past another beautiful illustration by Yokichi Sakamoto!

Fixes and Changes
  • Fixed bug in the “sneak into insane asylum” mission that would cause a character’s red “becoming aware of player’s presence” marker to remain onscreen when the player was hiding inside of a locker.
  • Any student with the “Spiteful” Persona will no longer call the cops on the player or testify to the police about murder, after witnessing the murder of a student that they were being bullied by.
  • Fixed bug that prevented the game from detecting whether or not the player was carrying emetic poison in their inventory when approaching Osana/Senpai’s bentos to poison them.
  • Fixed bug that would cause the “tag” circle to continue appearing in Yandere Vision even if the tagged student had been removed from the school environment.
  • Removed exploit that would allow the player to avoid being kicked out of a club at the end of Friday by simply skipping Friday on the Calendar screen.
  • Fixed bug that prevented the game from removing an expelled rival from school after the “getting expelled by guidance counselor” sequence had ended.
  • Fixed bug that caused the game to count a clean swimsuit as a bloody swimsuit even after the player had cleaned blood off of a swimsuit.
  • Fixed bug that would cause the game to softlock if the player washed a bloody weapon using the water basin in the Home Ec room.
  • Fixed bug that caused Osana to wear the wrong school uniform during the “wakes up tied to a chair in the basement” cutscene.
  • Fixed bug that would cause the Student Info pages to display incorrectly when viewed inside of the protagonist’s home.
  • Fixed bug that was preventing the “eyewitnesses accuse the protagonist of murder” feature from working.
  • Fixed bug that caused the ventilation system to identify the Newspaper Club as the “Info Club” in 1989.
  • Fixed bug that made it possible for the player to run while being chased by the Journalist.
  • Removed text that referred to Akademi as a “high school” and replaced this text with the word “academy” instead.

I can't believe I've never seen this. It's unbelievable. I'm not a programmer or anything but I also don't make a hobby of kicking myself in the dick.

YanDev is actually retarded. He's typing out each case individually instead of going
else if (this.StudentID == Variable1)

He could write a single loop that has a variable passed to it and it would take care of like 100 lines of code.

Ver archivo adjunto 3398774
Here it happens again. He types out an entire incrementing array by hand.
It should read

this.TaskAnims[Variable]

Ver archivo adjunto 3398777
Same thing here, manually incrementing his variables.

The dude seems deathly afraid to call functions, pass variables through functions and implement arrays and For loops.

The mega list of variables/states at the beginning might not be the absolute worst thing, those things have to exist somewhere. I was expecting the function to end right after with a call to various other functions. He's hardly using any of the built in Unity aspects. And he's for sure building his own autistic state machines that live inside the main game function.

It's phenomenal. A testament to modern computing that it's playable in any way because there's absolutely no thoughts about optimization.
Didn't people make fun of him because of his overuse of else if statements years ago? I remember a 4chan post in particular tearing him a new one over it that got shared around. My guess is that he felt insecure over it and removed any references to it in face of the controversy instead of just learning how to code properly.

Yeah that was the biggest gripe with his code at the time. He's rebuilding state machines with loads and loads of if/else statements. He may have moved to switch cases at some point, but it's still wrong.

It really shows what makes him a lolcow though. Instead of admitting he's even a little bit wrong and learning he doubles down. He could have taken 2 or 3 years off and learned C# and then spent a year working on the game correctly. He'd still be way ahead of where he is now.

Wait, he’s STILL using Java!? He doesn’t know C#?This is so infuriating to hear, I want to spitefully learn C# and make something. I could probably do it before anything of note changes in his “development” of Yansim.

I’ve never seen someone take such a poorly thought out concept, approach it in the worst way, and draw out acting on said approach quite like Alex.

Nah he's coding in unity so he's using C# but he's definitely still got the java mindset. He's not leveraging any of the tools Unity provides.

Even for java what he's doing is abysmal, but a java background explains a lot tbh. You could follow any one of the Unity tutorials and learn to code better than YanDev in like 2 months.

Javascript, not Java. Unity used to let you use Javascript to write your code but I think that's been depreciated in favor of making everyone use C# instead. I don't recall the details of how/when Alex was forced to convert, but it was probably commented on at the time somewhere in this thread and I feel like a volunteer may have done the work for Alex (much like how volunteers did the conversion to the newer versions of Unity).

Edit: Actually, it might've been tinyBuild that did the conversion. Maybe.

It's iconic so it can't change. Like the character models.

Two blog posts

A “What if…?” video I made for fun to answer a fan’s hypothetical question (archive)
One of my Patreon supporters asked me a question, and I thought it was such an interesting question that I decided to make a video to answer it. The creation of the video went by relatively quickly, since I was able to make it entirely using pre-existing footage and copyright-free images (paintings from around 200 years ago).

I feel guilty that I rarely create cool content for my supporters on Patreon, and recently, I’ve been trying to figure out what kind of rewards I could offer to the people who are supporting me. However, there are three obstacles in my way:

  1. Whatever I create for the patrons has to be something that doesn’t take too much time away from the game’s development, or else it would be counter-productive.
  2. I can’t offer any physical goods, because manufacturing and shipping physical goods is very expensive. Any rewards for patrons have to be digital rewards.
  3. I want everything that I create to be public, so it’s really difficult for me to consider the possibility of making something that will be exclusive to a small group of people, even if it’s only for a short period of time.
What could I provide that could be made quickly, digitally, and shared with the world, while still being a worthy thank-you gift for patron supporters? Above, you can see one potential idea: A simple video that exists to answer a patron’s question in thorough detail.

It’s too early to promise whether or not I’ll regularly make videos like this for Patreon supporters; it kinda depends on how often I hear especially thought-provoking questions. But, if it would be an enticing reward for joining the Patreon, I’d definitely consider it. “$20 Tier: YandereDev will make a simple video to answer any question or discuss any topic related to Yandere Sim. Video will be at least 5 minutes long.”

Would you join that tier?
"For $20, Yandere Dev will now make a video filled with more convoluted, unnecessary lore about Yandere Simulator just for you." Tell me you're desperate for relevance and money without telling me you're desperate for relevance and money.

Here's the video:
Keep in mind this video is on his secondary channel, not his main one.

Whoa! That’s quite a lot of improvement!

Fixes, Changes, and Improvements
  • Fixed bug that would cause the Tag (the red circle that appears around a student in Yandere Vision when using the Tag feature) to float in the center of the screen until the tagged student appeared within your field of vision.
  • Fixed bug that could cause the player to get locked in place permanently if spotted committing murder by the Journalist, but the Journalist was too far away to reach the player before the end of the player’s attack animation.
  • Fixed bug that prevented a blood splatter from appearing on the player’s knife after it had been used to subtly stab Raibaru in the side as she was being attacked by a mind-broken slave.
  • Fixed bug that would cause a rival’s suitor to attempt to stalk her / spy on her even after she had been expelled, by walking to the last location she was seen at before her expulsion.
  • Fixed bug that would cause the player to automatically be kicked out of any club during the weekend, even if the player had attended club activities earlier in the week.
  • Fixed bug that would cause certain girls to “glitch out” when made into prisoners in your basement (you would simply see some female legs poking out of cardboard boxes).
  • Fixed bug that caused the “open door” prompt to disappear from certain angles if the player entered the shed in the gardening club and then closed the door behind them.
  • It’s no longer possible to spill a bucket of water in the dirt area of the gardening club, or on stairways. (It could result in puddles floating in midair).
  • Fixed bug that would cause a bag of chips to make a “vending machine dispensing item” sound effect upon pulling the bag of chips out of a bookbag.
  • Chigusa will no longer agree to go talk to her suitor at the matchmaking spot if she is wearing a bikini. It was too weird (and caused bugs).
  • Fixed bug that would cause characters to perpetually ignore all giggles if they noticed a weapon on the ground while investigating a giggle.
  • Adjusted the tables/chairs in the 1980s Light Music Clubroom so that student pathfinding will no longer break around those objects.
  • Fixed bug that would cause subtitles to display over the pause menu if the player paused the game while subtitles were on screen.
  • Since Raibaru can’t be poisoned on Tuesday, Info-chan’s “Poison Raibaru” Scheme is now disabled on Tuesday.
  • Fixed bug that prevented Chigusa from performing her “gravure photoshoot” event after Cleaning Time.
  • Fixed bug that allowed the player to gossip about a rival after she has been expelled from school.
  • Fixed bug that prevented Ryoba from having her “gentle face” while inside of her bedroom at night.
  • Removed the “Debug Load” feature from the Load screen, since it lost its functionality.
  • Fixed texture bugs in the Newspaper Clubroom.

If Alex actually admitted to his mistakes, accepted constructive criticism, and learned C#, we wouldn't have a 2,300+ page thread on him. Bluntly, this thread exists because he does the exact opposite.

Careful, Alex, you're letting the mask slip again. :story: (Updated Archive)

More Alex/Mulberry art tracing drama from a few days ago. We get namedropped in this post and in the artist's conversation with Alex on Discord. Screenshotted and thumbnailed the images due to their size.
NOTICE:
I really hope this doesn't sound too off or unprepared, I just don't have much choice anymore.
So I didn't want to make this until Mulberry's Ayano cousin art officially comes out on the site so I could gather more things to further prove my point, but due to situations and videos coming out, I have decided to talk about it now. When the cousin art comes out, I might make a part 2. If this comes out sounding off or unprepared, you know why.

Tracing and Frankensteining:
Frankenstein tracing is the act of cutting up one or multiple pieces of someone else's art or poses and putting them together to make something new, its still considered tracing someone else's art and is still wrong to do. Here are examples of Frankenstein tracing I made as an example from my own art:

Example Part 1
Example Part 2

This is how people can easily get away with tracing, and a form of tracing I feel that is not spoken enough about, and that is just as bad as line for line tracing, and is one of the main reasons that Dev ignored or refused to admit is a thing that happens when I went to talk to him about it, and is why a form of proof he sent, I put aside due to the facts above:

Mulberry and her Tracing other artists and copy pasting things for her art:
This is here so I can prove that she actually does this/has had a history of doing this.
She's traced and used the work of the old artist Kjech and used and traced parts from his art to make a lot of her "official" yandere sim art that's on the character website:
Mulberry Kjech Frankentrace 1

Mulberry Kjech Frankentrace 2

Mulberry Kiwifarms Frankentrace proof

Mulberry Copy/Pasting Frankentrace

This is here to prove that she actually does the things I'm accusing her of, and is one of the main reasons I want to debunk from Kgon's video on this situation saying that the art has to be chopped up in pieces to prove tracing, its because that's what it is and how it works, the art being cut up and put different just enough to say "Oh its not traced" (Its what skilled tracers like Mulberry do, and is their defense from accusations like this.)

All artists of any kind know that when they create something, for themselves or someone else, a part of them is in that artwork, and you can tell and see that it's your artwork.
I brought this up because the artwork I did for YandereDev of Ayano's cousin in the Medibang Contest video, I put part of myself in there. When I saw the silhouette of the cousin art Mulberry made, there was that innate feeling that I knew it was my work and I knew something was wrong with it, it felt like my art but it wasn't.

Cousin

I'll talk more about all of that later.

My conversation with YandereDev:
I feel like these are important facts to add before I talk about the fallout I had with dear old Devpai. I've been a fan of Yandere Simulator since I was a child, I idolized this man for so long and finally working for him felt like a dream come true, even after some of the drama came out about him, I gave him the benefit of the doubt, "Ohh its been years he's changed" (Spoiler he hasn't and you will see such.) I wouldn't have ever dreamt of getting mad or having a fight with this man, I don't like to get into arguments or conflicts in general. But seeing how he handled my concerns as a person and volunteer. Yeah. It didn't feel nice.

Now the conversation I am going to post about me confronting YandereDev about the issue, its not pretty. I didn't even bring it up to start an argument, only bring up a concern, and it devolved from there. We both got upset and the situation boiled out of control in quite the ugly manner. This conversation could have been handed better on my part but since he voiced his concerns elsewhere to what the problem was, its hard to keep calm and not devolve into upset yelling, so I apologize if I do not make sense in a lot of what I was saying.

Screenshot_6.png

Screenshot_7.png
Note: He has never EVER paid me for ANY of the work I've done for him so him saying that "the client who paid for the illustration" doesn't work. It was volunteer work not a commission.

Screenshot_8.png
I was more than willing to accept payment and put the issue aside for the most part but that didn't happen. I was upset at this point and said things like "pay me for all my things you can keep them and trace them and edit them all you want" thing, which could have been handled better. Here is me also calling him out on his wording of "paying" me when I haven't seen a single cent for any of my work.

Screenshot_9.png
We love a gaslighting king, telling me what I can and can't get upset over, especially with what I found out happened later.

Screenshot_10.png
I'm getting more upset, and I'm bringing up a point and (honestly an issue) YandereDev does with his volunteers. He gets multiple things of an asset he wants and targets it between two volunteers, and then takes the "better" of the two and doesn't bother to tell the other volunteer their stuff isn't going to make it. It honestly is gross, letting one person think their stuff is going to be out and they can get exposure, only for them to get slapped in the face that they're hard work was "subpar" compared to someone else. I feel bad everyday over remaking the cousin art and one upping the original artist who did it, if you see this, or you know who made the wonderful cousin art in the screenshot and below, I'm sorry. Your art is wonderful and Dev doesn't deserve your time. I sent this person's artwork to show to Dev that "remaking" a pose for an artwork doesn't mean, tracing the pose exactly. Both artworks are original in their own right while being pictures of the same thing.

Screenshot_11.png
Dev, offering me money to shut me up. Also Dev, saying he's not offering money to shut me up. Also the fact he said "She made it on her own, I don't see any problem with telling an artist to trace something I'm the owner of" (He never paid me. Its not his.) Plus he went straight to his go-to phrase of someone else being delusional while he's the sane one in a situation. Also there is no such thing as "recreating a reference image perfectly" especially with what I'm going to show later.

Screenshot_12.png
Look at how he references PrincessDie's situation, literally, what kind of high horse is he on to not see that what he does and allows his volunteers to do to other volunteers is severely harmful and to think that he's in the right in every situation. Speaking of PrincessDie, its not only art wise that tracing happens. He actively asks and allows modelers to trace her and her friend's models. Either way its not fair to the original creator of the art piece.

Screenshot_13.png
I was typing my response to the last message when he lost his cool and just started going off on this. Again, the gif he sent doesn't prove his point at all. He also went back to gaslighting me and telling me I'm delusional again. Especially when I found out what happened.

Screenshot_14.png
I feel like this is self explanatory even if it could have been handled better.

Screenshot_15.png
I frankensteined my own art to prove a point.

Screenshot_16.png
I've sent my proof for this claim above. Fresh smell of gaslighting in the morning.

Screenshot_17.png
The Mikasa example of Mulberry Frankensteining is from KiwiFarms. I made too many things for him I wasn't going to spend another moment talking to this man. What's funny about this is before this happened, he was praising my art and models, saying they were the best in game, then went immediately to "tell me what I need to chuck out".

Mistakes I have made with this conversation:
I made the mistake of bringing these up before it was time to tell people about it, and it got into the hands of people who don't know the full context of the situation, who henceforth misinformed a lot of people about the situation without me talking about the situation in whole. I also put this out in the air exactly after the conversation happened, I was greatly upset at the time, and went off on rants with it without giving it time to properly form in my head. I also found out more information about what happened, but that happened after I posted all of these. So I wasn't really able to clear up some things that I have already said, that got reported on.

So what happened? Did Mulberry trace my cousin art?
I don't have the full answer so I can't claim for certain but judging by what I'll be showing next and what I showed earlier about her and kjech, I very much think so. Like I said before, I was waiting for the artwork to come out officially so I could compare and contrast what was made before making this big post. I only had a silhouette of the cousin to work with. I will make a continuation to this after that has been revealed and I have been able to make my own deductions.
The claims I did have at the time were mainly the boots:
Shoe Trace Silhouette

What did I find out after?
What I found out later, that really just makes the situation worse for me, is this:

YandereDev asked me to make this artwork for the Medibang Contest Video. You can see the video, which is time stamped here: Medibang Video

Something that happened before the video was put up, was the fact Dev asked me for my sketch and line layers and final piece for the cousin so he could put a time-lapse like sequence in the video. I thought nothing of it at the time but I realized this was where the problem proved more points than none.

Trusting someone with your process sketches unwatermarked when making art is scary, at least for me it is. Severely so. Because there's always the chance someone is going to steal it and that's what happened here. Yandere Dev asked for my sketches, which he didn't pay me for so it isn't technically his, and he gave them to Mulberry who decided to steal the sketch and trace it instead of just "referencing" it like he said she did, and my proof is here.

Screenshot_18.png
YandereDev asking me for the sketches and line art.

My Base Sketch

Comparing my finished to the official silhouette you can see some differences, that is because of the process of changing the shape and details as you go on with an art piece. Look at this.

Screenshot_19.png
The silhouette on top of my sketch

and when you Frankenstein the sketch just a little bit to make it just difference enough.

Screenshot_20.png
:') ouch.

When the official drawing comes out, I will make a continuation to this to see if the line art matches up with my finished drawing but I feel like this is enough to show what happened in full. I love Yandere Simulator and I want nothing but the best for it but I will not tolerate me, my art, or my time being treated this way, and you shouldn't either.

Kgon made a video on the Mulberry drama and it is so fucking bad it seriously makes me question if he knows anything about art and tracing at all. In the video he proclaims Mul innocent because the lines don't match perfectly all the while moving one image overlayed on top of the other and you can literally see that the lines do match. It's just that Mul's pic is a 101 textbook example of frankenstein tracing where you cut out and move singular pieces of the drawn character like arms, legs, etc., put it in other positions and trace over that. I have admittedly used this method many times and I'm still using it when I draw some dumb shit for myself, so I know what I'm talking about.

For example, he says Mul didn't trace the feet because the position of the foot in the air is different and the boot's shape is a bit different too but he is too retarded to see that she just cut out the foot, rotated it a bit and put it higher. The shape of the boot is different because Mulberry has some artistic skills, so her tracing is mostly about the general shape of things. It is completely fair to assume that she would know how to give a piece of clothing a slightly different shape once she has the base.

Kgon has no fucking idea what he's talking about, proves himself wrong in the video itself and still is praised and getting his dick sucked by all the children in his comments. I swear, he might just one day end up on the path to sidekick lolcowdom, and look how well that turned out for gamesleuth. Back in 2020 I pointed out in the YS clone thread that he made a lot of mistakes while either criticising or defending Alex or Mul and it looks like he's still doing it.

Don't all these YouTubers that live off Yandere Simulator content end up as dumpster fires?

Don't all these YouTubers that live off Yandere Simulator content end up as dumpster fires?
Yeah, for one reason or another. There are some really good videos out there criticising certain aspects of YS or Alex's behaviour but people who cover 'recent' drama seem to be mostly incapable of discussing it without either a-logging and making it seem like they just want to ruin Alex for no reason or completely fucking up their arguments because they have no required knowledge. Both gamesleuth and kgon started off really well, just exposing some really ridiculous and funny stuff about this whole project but the further they went the more retarded they got. Boy, am I glad that bootleg filthy frank guy bailed when he did, he seemed like a genuinely nice kid and didn't deserve to get dragged into this bullshit.

Also, since you mentioned youtubers making YS content, I remember there used to be a ton of fan-made animation series re-imagining the story from the game. There were also a lot of channels dedicated to animating vines/memes/music vids/etc. with YS models. Most of them were of course shitty MMD animations very obviously made by children. Some time ago I noticed that pretty much all of those channels are now defunct and those that are still sort of active have content that has not improved in quality at all, so I can only assume the people who run them are still children. I think the most popular of those series was Lovesick and iirc the author has cancelled the series because they have grown up, bought a house and are no longer interested in making YS content. Idk, I just think it's kind of funny and it basically proves that the great majority of people who like YS are children and they immediatelly lose interest after growing up.
