As a thought exercise. Lets say Im a lazy arts teacher and its my job to teach some pottery technique to a group of students. I do this by showing my students a pottery YouTube video, not the entire video, just a segment. Have I as a teacher now infringed on the pottery YouTubes copyright?
The ultimate aim of my shitty arts class is to teach this pottery technique, not to emulate 1:1 what is done in the video I showed.

What I'm getting at is that I think NVIDIA used these datasets to teach AI certain fundamentals of human behavior, not to emulate some copyrighted material. If that makes sense.

There was even a case where Anthropic (purveyors of Claude) had a workaround for training on books by buying copies and scanning them (Source) though they still got dinged for piracy (though I wonder if they could've avoided this by scanning library books). A person watching lots of Youtube is not the same as AI watching lots of Youtube.
AI does not have the rights a person does. The AI is a product of a company.

This topic still requires extensive litigation to set a precedent, and/or lawmakers finally addressing the topic and creating proper legislation to clear up the gray areas.

I cannot say what is legally "correct", that is why I think this lawsuit is interesting.

There is no way to retrieve the original content upon which the AI generated content was trained, and it can no way be considered a market replacement because it does not contain any of the original content whatsoever.
