I think part of the motivation is them trying to appear somewhat judgement proof in a potential lawsuit, but I think they're probably more worried about getting sued for fraud/breach of contract by their former creator clash partners than by H3. The funny part is that Canada, out of all of the hundreds of countries in the world, is probably the most likely to effectively enforce a judgement that has been awarded against you in the U.S.

The second his audience gets the impression of him being "will sue anyone, any time, any reason" they'll leave en masse.

2) Ethan is interested in what he can get for damages. He went after those reply channels because they were stealing money, and when it comes to harassing his family that can also have damages associated, especially if he can prove that these are one and the same. Kiwi Farms isn't as big of a target because even if he cries about "emotional damage" that's a much weaker case and he runs into the "litigious" accusation.

3) If there's a "king" he's aiming for, it's Hasan. All of these people are in Hasan's orbit, Hasan is the open anti-semite, Hasan has fame and fortune, and benefits from the algorithm and the rest of the Internet. If Kiwi Farms criticizes Ethan, he can wave it off as some fringe group of hate. If Hasan criticizes Ethan, that gets signal-boosted and that will get back to him immediately.

Could he try to subpoena people on this thread who criticize him? Sure. Is it in his best interest? Probably not.

This isn't entirely true. The cracks were forming after their audience attacked Ethan for not being commie enough and he suddenly realized they were fostering an audience of retards. This lead to a stream where Hasan had to explain to an unconvinced Ethan why China was amazing and they were justified to put dissidents in reeducation camps, to invade Taiwan and why Tibet deserved getting their culture purged etc. This laid some groundwork for the proper implosion when Hasan and a lot of their audience were celebrating the Hamas attack on Israel.
