Imaging losing all of your social media access for a few minutes of woke clout. We're watching someone who could have coasted by with a shitty podcast and made an LA living out of it slowly burn every bridge he has.

There's a whole discussion to be had here about this phenomenon, but something I and other people have noticed is that there's a very distinct difference in "comedy" types among certain groups.
Group 1 is the one Ethan is in, where "humor" comes from "punching up" but they're "punching up" at whoever they deem to be "up". The "joke" is "This person is silly, gross, or otherwise distasteful. Don't be like them."
Group 2 is the one where humor is based on the premise of something, or taken to a extreme to illustrate a point or draw attention to a behavior.
People in group 1 tend to really dislike the humor of group 2, because they self-identify with the opinions they hold and the things they consume, so criticism or poking fun at those things is poking fun at them.

E.g.

Group 1 sees this scene and thinks "What a horrible show! They're making fun of black people! Black people are an oppressed minority!"
Group 2 sees this scene and thinks "That behavior is silly and I understand why people could get in this situation because I've felt similarly sometimes regardless of the color of my skin."

I know it's always been a joke/rumor that Ethan does big time coke, but after looking at him for the fist time in a while I'm not really sure what the other options are. It would explain his bloated corpulence, why he's such an erratic asshole, and why he looks like he's 57 when he's 37.

I haven't seen him in a while either and the bloat is almost shocking compared to even a couple years ago. I knew a cokehead who had almost exactly this look, having started out looking somewhat like Klein. Shortly before he died, he could poke a finger in his lower leg and the depression would remain there for a minute or so.
