This guy (Oliver Tree) did the exact same thing to Anthony Fantano on his podcast. I think it's supposed to be played off as just this character that he's portraying but his criticisms are just too on the nose. He has to know this gets to him deep down.

I didn’t want to sit through the whole 2 hour podcast so I scrubbed through and the part where Oliver starts roasting Ethan hard is at about 1:10:00.
Holy shit. Before I watched it, I figured Oliver was just playing a funny character and lightly ripping on Ethan. After watching it, I’m convinced Oliver secretly holds a deep hatred for Ethan and came onto his podcast with the intention of calling him out for all his bullshit. That was vicious! I love how close to home all of the insults are hitting Ethan. And the best Ethan can come up with is “lol you sound broke dude lol you make the same song over and over”…
I’ve never been huge on his music but I like a few of his songs. After watching this I’m a much bigger Oliver Tree fan. I gotta watch the Fantano interview next.
