Did some more digging. Apparently he has an Sony A7C, which is an expensive high end camera for $1599.99. He also has a 200-600mm lens which runs at a whopping $2099.99. How long he's has this setup is not certain, but that's an insane purchase for someone who just started birding back in April. Wonder how much of that ebeggar money covered it.
Listers (2025) is also a good documentary and I believe that Tony might be becoming one himself. He has already had 155 Lifetime Birds in the short amount of time he's been doing it. He's also likely trying to have a Big Year, which is a personal or informal competition among birders to identify as many species of birds as possible in a year and a specific area. The documentary also muses about the difference between people that actually appreciate nature and people that just like competing and checking a list. Since Tony mutilated himself, I really doubt he genuinely appreciates nature.
Also fyi for anyone who's autistic enough to track these, you have to have an eBird account to see profiles. Fortunately, I am that brave soul.
I did also look up Zach and per search results he has an active eBird, but it would appear he privated his account because results come up as "Anonymous eBirder." Nice try, but we know who you are. Confirmed by the location being Montgomery County.
Anyways if you have two hours and aren't even into birding, give Listers (2025) a watch. One of the best documentaries I have seen in a long while.

Honestly it bewilders me how a tranny could write such meaningless slop about birds and chosen families. Birds migrate to fuck and procreate not to chop their cloaca off because momma sparrow didn't approve of their lifestyle.

I must admit I know nothing about photography but his photos don't seem that impressiv given the numbers involved. I've seen far better shots in the guardian's reader submissions, like they aren't terrible but for that kind of price tag I'd be expecting nat geo level. Is he just a poor photographer or is it literally that much of an expensive hobby when it comes to cost:return?

Little of both. He’s not very good. An expensive camera makes it “easier” to get something workable in high quality, but honestly even a cheaper camera does better quality if you have an actual eye for what you are doing and know how to change the settings. However there are elitists in the hobby that do insist you need the “gear”

You can have a pic in shit quality that makes you stop and stare just because they have the talent for catching something that moves you.
Then there are a lot of people with technically perfect pictures that are completely dead when you look at them, no emotion or nothing, just a perfect dead capture of whatever the object is.
