Garland is so far off the fucking reservation he's almost not a lolcow to me anymore. It's Eichenwald shit minus the hugely embarrassing personal discoveries, which means he's just a political spaz who lives on Twitter. The problem with lolcows for me is once you can predict what they'll say there's almost no point anymore, which is why Peter Coffin became less interesting and Brianna Wu is getting there. Garland is easy to provoke a response from but all the responses are the same. And I guess ultimately it's disheartening to see he has like 177k followers. I thought he was a weird fringe guy until I checked it and there's hundreds of people agreeing with him.

Weaponizing space would start a nuclear war. It would take time before whatever weapon system we put in orbit was operational, and Russia and possibly China would be very scared that MAD would be overcome, so they'd hit us before we had that advantage. There's an old book called Warday in which the US develops an anti-MIRV defense network, but while the shuttle is in orbit deploying the first killsats, the Russians launch a preemptive strike before their arsenal is no longer effective.

I am baffled by people who say Clinton gave up. She lost. She could do nothing else except concede. There was Russian interference yes, but it was all propaganda. No actual votes were changed, and they couldn't have been because the actual voting machines aren't connected to the internet. You would have to physically access the hardware to make any changes, and since the 2000s, those machines are audited to prevent exactly that sort of thing from happening.

Great idea Eric. The US should rush in there loudly proclaiming that they're going to execute the entire Russian political leadership, thus giving the Russians the motivation to fight to the bitter end and use their nukes if necessary.

Making a well armed and dangerous enemy desperate and allowing them no possibility of peaceful resolution or compromise is always a good strategy.
