A 1b 1br right next door is listed for $2,500 on Padmapper. That's not cheap, but you could cover that without much trouble on a Boston tech salary.
It's also a pretty common financial mistake among millennials. Get a new job? Time to blow 30-40k a year on a trendy apartment so you can live next to a boutique avocado toast restaurant that serves drinks out of ceramic jars!

The .US domain is localized for the United States, and thus gives all US courts jurisdiction by Jus Soli. Something even a .com or .org domain may not confer (thanks Obama). In order for a domain to register as .us, the top level administration must be an entity with US citizenship or residency, with the primary place of administration being within the territory of the United States. The fact that this was a .us domain is perfect, because this defeats all Jurisdictional arguments to argue there is no cause to bring action in US Federal Court. If it was a .com or .org, they could try and wave the "@Null is an international hobo" argument. Beyond that, just need make sure you pick the correct district, which would most likely be wherever Epiks servicing address is.
Next, you need to make a very specific claim of violation. A 1st amendment violation is the obvious one, but its a non-starter as your primary motivation. Just ask Tulsi Gabbard about her fight against Google. In this case, Josh could argue that Epik Defamed him (and by extension 9chan) by claiming 9chan is 8chan. Which is patently not true. He can then claim that this led to immediate tortious interference with active and prospective business contracts as their defamation also cause him to immediately lose the next URL selected. This line of attack has largely been the most successful to these kind of censorious actions, rather then just immediately reaching for the 1st amendment. You can also probably tack on breach of contract as well, and good luck with that.
Standard disclaimer I am not a lawyer, I just love following legal drama. I would recommend an actual lawyer who will probably tell you I am a moron, but he's willing to take your money anyway.

Eh, I kinda think your would be defamation claim has no grounds as they only correlated 9chan with 8chan in private, and the only reason we're aware of such a claim is because Null himself publicly posted it.

True, to an extent, but they did make public statements (and then deleted) that indicated very strongly where their thought process was. The private correspondence serves as confirmation for the obvious context of what they said and did publicly. I agree, its still an uphill fight on that particular cause, but its one that can still get the wikihow dogs nose in the door as it were. A Jury or Judge may still not buy it, but it has enough merit to bring up. And that is what feeds the far more obvious and sustainable claims. Mainly the Tortious Interference and Contractual Breach.
I am also not saying this is a slam dunk at all. All these censorious internet slap fights are a legal quagmire that exists entiterly in an area of the law our fearless leaders in congress have neglected for almost 20 years.
*edit*, and I am still not convinced the 1st amendment does not apply either, as this is a .US domain we are talking about. This is the national level domain registration for the United States specifically. In this case, Epik may land in the exact same area as a public utility. They aren't just applying a service. They are applying a service tied directly to communication within the United States. This is something that has NEVER been argued (to my knowlege) before though, but I can see how the argument can be made. Unlike any other domain on the planet, the .US domain registration is localized entirely to the United States and exists to facilitate communication within America. This puts it in the exact same category as the .GOV domain. The only difference being the GSA owns .gov, and private companies own .US.

At first I was relatively optimistic about Josh going back to infinity next, I thought it was a nice idea. But as he worked on it he kept mention 8chan over and over, and thats fine since the project started with 8chan. However, it started to come off as him trying to hold up some middle finger with it, to prove that he was superior in someway. Whether that was to the establishment, the pig farmer, or the dwarf doesnt really matter, but he solidified it with obsessively trying to name the site with some sort of reference to 8chan.
That brings bad mojo, and even fucking african tribals in mud huts know that talking about and working with bad shit gets you.... bad shit. Yes, Epik did something very gay and used the moderation shit as an excuse. You wanna know what doesnt help with that though? going to the most popular board on the website and seeing this
