Tim Burton's version of Sleepy Hollow. Probably one of my favorite films he's ever done. I love how sinister, how ominous and how bloody it is.


The opening to 28 Days Later. I love it. I love how the entire country gets doomed with this virus because the animal rights guys try to save the infected monkeys.

28 Weeks Later. The rest of the film is dogshit but opening is tense and scary. The part where he's running through the hills and they come at him from the side is scary as hell to see. It definitely gives that feeling of "you're fucked, mate."

Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
I'm kinda cheating here because it's more the theme itself that I remember about the opening, but the visuals are still chilling. A playground covered in flames before cutting to a single Terminator emerging from the inferno. Really helps establish the post-apocalyptic future our heroes need to prevent.
 
Since I mentioned it elsewhere:


This is one of the tensest scenes I've ever watched. Shame the rest of the film wasn't as interesting.
