Empowerment

What the fuck does it even mean?

Ive seen this word a bit too much lately on various shitty articles and videos.

Honestly tho, i could never be ~empowered~ by a quote, video or someone elses accomplishments (lol)

I was wondering if anyone here has or had sonething or someone that made them feel empowered in some way? How and why?

empowerement in its original sense meant gaining power, like forming a political movement, actually accomplshing progress, or less politically oriented: getting promoted to a leading posission and so on, so it is not a "feeling" in that sense

the way everyone nowadays uses it, it just means "feeling confident" or even just "good". why they just don't use "confident" is beyond me.

I don't feel "empowered" by anything bc I'm an everyjoe with no real power lol

I've never felt empowered, really, but the concept is 'being affirmed and thus feeling able to achieve/do things despite adversary'

I was about to express my astonishment that the Onion would be willing to publish that, but then I see it is from 2003 and we lived in a different world then.

damn I overlooked the article the last time. it's scary how the onion predicted the future, because feminists today believe exactly that. you could take a dump and they'd call it empowering as long as you *identify with the womanly experince~
