I read an article several years ago that talked about how the Tesla Autopilot system had an unaccountable fondness for swerving into parked police cars. Something about a stationary object emitting flashing red and blue lights fried the poor clanker's brain and made it go nuts.

I tried to find that article just now but all I could find were more recent stories about Teslas slamming into police cars.

There's been similar accidents like it not recognising an overturned truck and ploughing straight into it. The vision system they're using seems to be, at least partly, using object recognition to spot other vehicles so it's been trained on millions of photos of road things. The problem with that is when it sees an object that's not sufficiently similar to what it's been trained on, it doesn't go "WTF is that?", it just doesn't recognise that there's anything there at all. Presumably the dazzling flashing lights prevent the vision system from recognising that the cop car is a cop car.

At least it's got out of its habit of following joints in the road surface instead of the road markings.

I remember some viral dashcam video on twitter of a guy driving along and basically being blinded by LED headlights, only to notice at the last moment some pedestrians were crossing the street in front of him (think he may have bumped into them but slow enough no real harm done).

Was weird to me because a lot of people saw the video of the guy driving along, clearly not able to see a fucking thing due to how bright those LED headlights from an oncoming car were, and acted like it was normal to keep driving along while not being able to see.

In which case, this is Tesla's AI becoming more and more human by driving into shit it can't see.
 
Accidentally deleted my password manager several months ago. I have been sufficiently motivated to fix that and send along probably the most interesting document that's come out of the Musk bullshit. Jared Isaacman, who's up for re-nomination as NASA Admin and was handpicked by the king autist himself, was tied to a working document called "Project Athena" that laid out a plan for wholly dismantling NASA to Musk's enrichment. This document was hidden behind journofags gatekeeping it until I was alerted to its leak this evening. It's starting to spread elsewhere, but this is absolutely worth sharing. See if you can spot the Mockingbird-tier weaponization of spacefags.
