Does buying SpaceX stock at that valuation strike you as a sound economic decision?

If you're talking about the valuation as in the stock market value then yes SpaceX valuation is fake and gay but that's true of every company out there. Stocks are a confidence game and in no way reflect the actual value/potential of the underlying company. All that matters is if more people want to buy vs sell, and what determines that is often what they think other people will want to do. This was proven beyond the shadow of a doubt by the Gamestop fiasco. SpaceX line will continue to go up as long as people are inclined to think it should and as long as there is a pool of money to support it.

But if the question is "is SpaceX valuable?" then the answer is yes. Their revenues are huge and most of their losses are due to the AI division and not the rocket division. And their potential is unlimited if they can continue to innovate and bring commerce and tourism to space. This will be extremely difficult though because chemical rockets reached their technological limits decades ago and all replacements are theoretical at this point.

I feel like that's one of those lessons most people learn by the time they become adults.
