I've noticed that the more Elon is personally involved with a project, the worse it turns out. Original Teslas? Perfectly fine cars, and proved that electric cars are viable at scale. The Cybertruck? Has Elon's musk all over it. Looks terrible, handles terrible, rusts if you don't wrap it, explodes if you park it near the beach too long.
SpaceX? He just complains about regulations and visits the shop floor occasionally, no involvement beyond that. X The Everything App? His Asperger's-Syndrome-induced need to name everything X caused the worst rebrand in Silicon Valley history. Annoyed his userbase so much that they voted him out of the CEO position.
CAFE Credits? Tesla's lobbyists managed to smooth-talk the Government enough to make giving free money to electric car owners a bipartisan position. The Department of Government Efficiency? Not only was it a total catastrophic failure, but in his short time in the White House he annoyed the GOP so much that they kicked him out then repealed CAFE Credits with the Big Beautiful Bill.
