If anything he proved every Chad was a good guy. Chad don't shoot up sororities. He's busy being a decent guy (and slaying bishes). All Elliot did was make a ton of young guys that might have had a shot embrace nihilism way too fucking early in life.

It's the Month of Retribution, personally I think the lottery story is particularly overlooked by readers of Elliot's misadventures.
Honestly, I think his parents had a bigger hand in shit going wrong than most people realize. His father was completely useless on the rare occasions that Elliot brought the subject up, and was more focused on his own vanity projects and both parents were using Elliot as a pawn in their post-divorce war with each other.
Peter Rodger was a pompous ass with a sense of unwarranted self-importance, and unfortunately it reflected in his son.

I’m glad you have never witnessed how completely checked out parents can be, even concerning kids who live under their own roof. Kids from divorced families can often get away with a crazy amount and usually much more than kids who live with both parents.
Elliot’s remarried father was very busy making a new family and focusing on his Hollywood career.
Elliot said he idolized Zuko from Avatar the Last Airbender as a kid, and died in May 2014, so though he never mentions it, he would've lived to see the first two seasons of Legend of Korra
