First mistake. Well intention, but a mistake. Stuff like this should never be supported. Ever. No quarter given. Lest we... [cut to: modern day].
I can certainly empathize with someone feeling a great amount of dysphoria, but draw a clear line when it comes to chopping up their body. Firstly, we're currently in the midst of witnessing how ineffective it is for the truly earnest. Secondly, it only opened the floodgates for all the bad faith individuals claiming transness to predate virtually unabated, among other things. Thirdly, considering how impressionable certain sections of our society can be, otherwise healthy people are basically doing the equivalent of the Tide Pod challenge.
Sometimes, in order to save people from themselves and their worse impulses, you have to wind up looking like the villain. Which, in this case, I'm absolutely fine with. Even the most earnest, psych-cleared, all-other-avenues-failed ones shouldn't be cut into, no less given a platform.
