Within tumblr and twitter, however, the "label" of fictionkin has helped me connect with other people who have gone through similar experiences and I have made friends who are accepting of me that way.

It's helped you connect with a lot of weirdos and try-hards. Do yourself a favor and find new friends.

I'm gonna stop being a dick for a moment to seriously suggest that you consider weaning yourself off tumblr in general, or at least aiming to achieve more shallow and casual usage; it's not a platform that anyone does themselves favors by leaning too strongly on. Foundations build on shifting sand, and all that.

It's way too easily kicked out from under you.

These are wise words. I mostly used it for photoblogging, which was pretty therapeutic for me. I like stability and repetition, so getting on every day, reblogging some posts, and answering some nice messages every day for 5 years was really nice. I really overreacted when Colere took over my tumblr, and I feel like most of that didn't have much to do with my tumblr at all in a way. I've remade (though I'm hoping Mod Mona gives me back my old one so I can contact my old friends and save my messages somewhere) and I'm using it primarily to just post my art now.

Well Soma has covered all of the bases on the colere damage, and we both kind of have the same mutual ground on the whole mental strain it took. I only joined edg3cultwiki in the first little bit for Mod Hero since he's a friend of mine. But Mod Emeto actually made the entire blog go to the shitter when he sent gore which I'm still actually bitter about. Since he also sent it without talking to any of the other mods on wiki, which is also why I left wiki.

Mod Hero has actually met Colere before edgecult and she pulled the same stuff with saying she was going to kill herself and generally latching onto hero in a "lovey dovey" fashion which she also did to me even though I have fairly bad empathy towards people killing themselves. Colere is generally gross. For being fourteen colere does a bunch of fucked up shit.

Haha, they actually sent me gore personally before I got to know them! Not all of it is medical gore, but when I got it, they sent me a lot of images of slit throats (which upsets me/makes me feel sick because of childhood trauma.) They like to research enough on the target to know their triggers and send gore according to what upsets them the most.

Oh, trust me. They know. Most of them don't really care, but I don't know the new mods, so maybe they will care? I'm pretty popular with most of the mods, though. I'm still even in the group chat despite having betraying(?) them by hijacking the blog. Mod Sen and Mod Ken don't like me.

Honestly, don't fear her. It's what she wants. Even if it gets scary you have to just ignore her. After all, you are an 18 year old adult and she's a 14 year old child. You can unplug the switch and never talk to her again.

Yeah. Edgecult got deleted twice. The original url was just "edgecult", but when blogs are banned the urls they used are also terminated and can't be accessed/taken by anyone. That's why they've got that edgy l33t in the url.

All I have to say is that although the edginess is definitely cringy, it doesn't seem unusual considering that the mods on this tumblr page are in their teens and teenagers do stupid shit.

I think it's common for teenagers, especially those who lack emotional maturity to do edgy things such as sending gore, there's also an extra layer of dissonance if you take into the fact that there's a group culture involved (by sending gore, in a group where everyone else is sending gore it takes some of the responsibility off you), keeping in mind the internet causes distance, and an emotional separation, so people will do things online that they wouldn't consider doing in real life.

These kids, if they do know each other in real life, probably consider themselves to be misfits, and try to purposely do things like this in order to separate themselves from society and societies norms in order to better fit into this label.

I don't know if 4chan is still as popular as it has been in the past, but the culture involved as being as shocking as possible on sites such as 4chan and ED have probably also had an influence on their decision to send gore.

These children most likely come from a middle-upper middle class home, but due to their delay in emotional development, possibly due to psychological issues such as depression, seek out social interaction online with people of similar emotional maturity.
